The mists is not the name of GW2 large scale PvP, The mists is the place where all the PvP in GW2 takes place, The Mists is not WvW, it's a place made up by the lore which lets you re-live battles in tyrian history.

The Mists is the lore that explain how WvW can take place. It is a place between worlds. In GW2 The Mists=WvW, although there's more to it if you feel like delving into Guild Wars lore.

I think his point refers to the posts that have used the Mists and World vs World PvP synonymously. WvWvW does take place in the mists, but so does the entirety of Guild Wars 2's PvP. The only known portal to get there(the PvP structured lobby) is located in Lion's Arch and explains why player characters are segregated from their normal PvE stature, save race, gender, and profession.

WvWvW is in the mists, but the mists =/= WvWvW. PvP = the Mists

Edit:

For example, take the Battle of Khylo - this is not a war in Tyria at present in Guild Wars 2. This is a battle that took place in the history of Tyria. In the wiki article, the mists are "the space between worlds and realms, connecting to all worlds and binding the multiverse together, including the past, present, and future."

yup most of us who are going to play GW2 can careless about GW1 and its lore.

you speak the truth sir as I was about write a post about the differences.

"The Mists resonate from the worlds around them, forming bits of their own reality - islands of existence that reflect the histories of their worlds. " hence why WvWvW is allowed to happen. you fight where world and each universe collides. why? because Balthazar wants you too.

'The mists' is just the overarcing term for anything not in 'reality' in guild wars as a blanket, very simple, statement for it.

But i've only seen one person call WvW 'the mists' anyway. It's a fairly small nitpick really.
