MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |
Just curious if the US servers lag. Playing with Frogster gives HUGE AMOUNTS of lag. Evert 5-10 minutes at least 1 lagspike of up to 10 seconds happens. This while we had a stress test to prevent this from happening.... Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

stress testing refers to tests that determine the robustness of software by testing beyond the limits of normal operation. |

Originally posted by Gorilla Frogster has had it's stress tests last week after the immense failure to bring the sneak peek weekend. So they should know the capaceties of their servers and it should not lag (at least not as bad as it does now). Knowing Frogster from past experiences (TCOS / RoM), and their CS sucks balls, I've made up my mind to take the €5 loss for the beta pre-order I did and move on to a publisher that (I hope) does a better job. There aren't too many locations where you can play on both servers without getting hit by geographical lag on at least one of the two locations. EnMasse was good last week I found (after they got their stuff together on Friday, anyway), although there were one or two 15-30 minute stretches where there was some noticeable lag.

2 servers + crap tons of players. First day I had some lag spikes and the server I was on crashed twiced during the day. The second and third day was not too bad for lag and i dont think the server crashed during those last two days. The next test will have a few more servers so we shall see how it goes. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Originally posted by Reizla From what I know, En Masse was lag free apart from some crashes from the very beginning, a few crashes for the first big stress test is nothing compared to Frogsters massive failure the first sneak peak, however they rectified it by giving us an event longer than the original planned sneak peak, which was good.
However I think the lag was only on the PvP server this weekend, the queue was about 1500 people and the server was full, the PvE servers didn't have lag. |

I think I'm on one of those locations where it's possible to play on both servers without too much geographical lag. My ISP (XS4All) is directly connected to the European Internet Backbone, giving me a ping of somewhere between 75 and 175 anywhere in the USA
That's a lot better than Frogster is offering right now. Playing a whole evening and lagging out every 5 minutes is no fun. And when you think they'd take action the 2nd day (today), guess again: the lag has become even worse today :( Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

@ reizla if you are not IP blocked from en masse join it. Frogster is extremely shady/fail (my opinion, boycotted them since Runes of Money) Hero Evermore |

Originally posted by deziwright I'm from Holland and have no IP block. And yeah, when I heard that Frogster would publish TERA in Europe my 1st idea was like yours about them being shady/fail. You also forgot to mention how they managed to kill The Chronocles of Spellborn (Frogster Asia had the rights back in 2010 when they pulled the plug. In general I love to hear how EnMasse does a good job. I'll pre-order there today and will join next CBT on their servers. I only hope that I don't have to download the whole client again, and that a simple patch is possible to make TERA playable for the US ;) Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

Originally posted by Reizla It's not just the better servers either, customer support is amazing.
You send in a ticket to En Masse and you get a non automated response and quick! Hell, you may end up having a conversation wiht one of them, they are so on the ball.
Great to see from a new company. |

Originally posted by Reizla Sure, I am no fan of Frogster. I am still deciding whether to play EU or US. I was just respondimg to your comment This while we had a stress test to prevent this from happening...Stress tests are not to prevent that happening they are to actualy cause it. Of course if it s happening outside the stress test then there is cause for concern but thats not what you said in the OP :).

P.S. Where are the En Masse servers located? Really isn't to much of an issue playing USA servers from the EU. |

I hope this is not another Cronicle of Spellborn disaster repeat I don't understand why Enmasse can't publish Tera in EU as well, since Frogster doesn't have a good reputation over here Tera is an AAA game, I don't think Frogster are good enough to manage an AAA game |

Originally posted by ste2000 I dont have an opinion on Frogster as of yet but a beta is a beta and shouldn't be considered anything else. Last night from 6pm onwards the lags were less and we had maybe a spike every 10 minutes or so which is obviously annoying but not ruining the experience. |

Yeah it's pretty well known that the NA servers are of a better quality then the EU ones. So lag is more of an issue on the EU ones but they will likely work on it. Take everything and give nothing back |
