Hello, atm im playing Rift. Many times while im playing other mmos im thinking of Darkfall. So i said " what the heck im gonna risk it again and resub". Probably some of you will think that its not a good idea to leave a really good MMO like Rift for DF. But im really bored of farming gear, dungeons, points, doing copy paste quests till the end, even the Guilds are just chat rooms most of the day. I had really good memories with Darkfall, that no other MMO offered me till now(exept vanilla WoW). What do you ppl think? http://www.wix.com/mmaganadellis/michaelmag http://www.youtube.com/user/PsyMike3d/videos http://soundcloud.com/michaelmag |

I would like to resub to DF too, if only they would tell us the directly if they'll wipe the characters in v.2.0 and generally what's going on with the development of the game... |

I was thinking of trying it, only think i dont like is the part i wil get jumpd by older players. From what i did hear is that vets are making it hard for newer players, or they kill them off all the time and take there stuff telling them to leave the game. Is this true? Edit: i am downloading the game but would still like to know if its true. MYSPACE ACCOUNT http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=80721225 |

Most of the horror stories with DF are related to its launch...where every player was fighting over the same couple of mob spawns...loot ninjaing...and ganking eachother...progress was hard to come by.
Now its a completely diffrent story. Vets are more likey to give you loot than take it all (loot works diffrently in darkfall...its easy to come by and breaks through pve just as easily as is lost in pvp...most people wont need anything a noob has anyway)
Comming from a themepark like Rift or wow is going to be quite a culture shock for you guys. Your fist thoughts are probably going to be "why cant i cast magic...where are the npc's and quests.. and why cant i find any mobs to kill" Followed quickly by " WTF these goblins keep kiling me" Once you get over the initial culture shock moving from a themepark like rift that holds you hand though a carefully planned world into Darkfalls completely open ended world, learn the mechanics (like how to bind keys so you can pull out diffrent weapons mid fight to access magic or range attacks on top of melee) you really start to appreciate not being told what to do by an npc who needs some worhtless mob killed 10 times ( i think they offer noob quests but are not needed) Best thing to do is to ask for help ( you will not be met with GTFO noob but rather people asking for your location and what weapon you plan to use since they probably have gear bags with your name on it..and will probabyl show you the first goblin spawn, which youll be grinding on for a while (untill they become easy at least)). Goals and objectives are up to you...do what feels the most fun and you get better at it...if you need to step away make sure you have a resource tool and chop wood/harvest bushes/mine ore/fish while you step away....you get stat gain and you run though gear fast...food and pots along with gold are fair game for any pvp kill for looting and youll run through a lot of those...people wont touch your gear unless its enchanted or usable in a seige...but your gear will break in pvp (no repairs) The hardest part of switching from themepark to darkfall is making your goal go from "i want to dominate in pvp and top dps meters in raids" to "i want to make these things and be able to survive and compete in seiges as well as defend myself...and most of that comes from mouse coordination, smart key binds and accurate execurtion of skills rather than how strong your character is...the diffrence betwen a player with 50 skills and 75 skills is fractional...a player with 50 stats can easily beat a player with 75-90 stats if he can play smart and not miss. Must warn...this is a very difficult game to start off and you wont be dominating anyone or doing much more than resource gathering/crafting/farming mats from mobs for at least a couple of months...this isnt an endgame in a month type game this is a game that takes a long time to get to "endgame" which arguably doesnt exist in darkfall. I should also add that starter areas appear completely vacant. The "criminal system" keeps most players to clan holdings and away from NPC towns. Distances are great in darkfall as well. Choosing a race is very important as well. There are race alliances. Humans are the most populair race due to hitbox and reach. The wolfs are also populair but offer disadvantages in melee. Other races can be played but you may have to travel 45min to an alliance race town if you want to play around other people. This isnt a grouping pve game, grouping is for pvp. People do pve with others for safted but there is friendly fire so be careful you dont kill your teammate unless you want to skill the rez skill. |

I will resub to DF when I know what DF 2.0 is going to be like. I hope they fix the melee fighting system, because it was pretty weak. |

Originally posted by Killsmallchi The hope is that with momentum and wobble the bunny hopping and magic leaping will no longer be viable..which includes being able to escape combat with ease. The melee system is currently weak in endgame pvp, but very viable in pve leveling. I agree that the melee system needs to be a very viable pvp mechanic. They are redoing magic systems to prevent people from being the best of every type of magic. Also the gear system is going to give advantages to melee when wearing heavy armor while preventing the use of higer magics while equipped. There will be no more mages in with heavy armor fillers is my guess...and will make mages be light armor wearers, which is how it should be. They are doing a whole boatload with 2.0 and every update makes it appear to be something in the distant future due to this. I think of 2.0 as a seperate new game being launched and expect those kinds of timeframes. They also say it really wont matter if you start now or for 2.0 which leads me to believe that leveling skills will lose its epic pve requirement, something im not happy with. I actually dont want them to wreck what is currently one of the most epic pve sandbox games to appeal to the FPS crowd in DF who want the game to be a giant deathmatch arena. Im guessing its going to be a giant deathmatch arena with very fast skill gains. Its actually why i resubbed a while back...one last time with a game thats hard and has a good character progression system one that doesnt run out in a measly month like a themepark. |

Originally posted by PsyMike3d Basically I agree with everyone saying that they don't want to resub to DF because it could wipe in a few months when DF 2.0 get's released. If your after the hardcore pvp sandbox experiance I would go with Mortal Online. You don't have to worry about getting wiped, and like Darkfall is has improved significantly since it was launched. Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp! |

Originally posted by Mmorpgerius I never would have stopped my sub if it wasn't for the possible incoming wipe. There's just not any point in continuing to develop my character if what I happen to be doing at any particular moment will be removed from my character some time in the not so distant future. Love DF, but unfortunately as things are now, I'm going to hold off until the arrival DF 2.0. "I agree that "unimaginable complexity" is absurd, but so is comparing a single player game to an mmo. Originally posted by Cecropia i'll do the same, i'll wait for Darfall 2.0 then... i logged as trial just to check it out, and i got a big dissapointment, because of the very low population. I guess many will want to try Darfall 2.0 and the population will be higher... I also hope for a F2P darkfall with a skill restriction gap for free users... http://www.wix.com/mmaganadellis/michaelmag http://www.youtube.com/user/PsyMike3d/videos http://soundcloud.com/michaelmag |

I went to resub the other day, after a few months of break. I went to the account page, put in my credit card info, and then to the store page to resub. On the store page, it said 14.99 for a month, and below that said $0.00 for 14 day trial. I figured they were doing some sort of "Return to Darkfall" thing, and was happy to get back ingame, without a full commitment. If things went well, I found some friends to hang with and such, then I would stay subbed. That evening, I went to the forums and talked about how it was a good thing, and they should advertise more if they are gonna give out free 14 days to returning players. My forums account was promptly closed, post deleted, and the horrible volunteer moderator escalated my forum post to the GM/Devs. My account was then closed. I recieved no e-mail, forum message, and I can't log into the game to discuss thier attrocious customer service, without subbing to the game. I next removed my credit card info back off my account page, uninstalled the game, and I am done with AV. I played the game from EU launch, thru a transfer and on NA for over a year. Thats 2+ years of subscription fees, and never a single infraction on my account for doing anything shadey. Im not looking for a free game, and was planning to sub initially. This was a very fast reminder of reasons I left the game months ago. Thier ship is sinking, and they are still attacking the customers on various levels, as if they have some population to fall back on.
