i was trying other game out for fun and this past week i checked guys that do still play wow and went to 64 bit (toweliee among other)and sadly yes from what people say it looks like 64 bit will be picking up very fast in wow.ya its that good .yet it isnt just a beta cause it isnt exactly to blizzard expectation yet!b but i bet it will be official at pandaria. just when other gamer were thinking finally blizzard doesnt have anything up its sleeve .boom blizzard strike! and for those naysayer remember that there are a lot of tweak in wtf file that can up that quality of everything by a lot .the only reason it wasnt done in trhe past was the 3.5 limit is suspect a lot of streamer like swifty will raise the quality manually in the wtf file! so i decided to ressub other game dont even bother to try anymore .and it is hard to go back to a soso 32 bit dx 9 game of low quality when you can get 64 bit dx11, very high quality mmo (this last setted via wtf file) what are is your thinking on this!did wow raise the bar again with 64 bit!do you expect an special rise in graphic quality if you are a 64 bit user with 8 gb or ram.(i think player using dx 11 and 64 bit with 8 gb of ram will have a higher quality setting mode come pandaria!) |

Although I applaud a 64-bit client (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3312962371), I don't see how that alone could bring anyone back to WoW after having left already. I wanted to type something really smart as a reply to this subject, but the Scarlet Blade ad got me distracted and I forgot what I wanted to type. |

Pretty cool they got a 64-bit client now but I'm done with WoW into the forseeable future. |

WoW's problem isn't with dated graphics but stagnant design. They no longer break new creative ground, they just repackage previous material. Pretty graphics are always welcome, but a lack thereof isn't going to hold back a great game. See Minecraft for example. Personally, I'm still playing the original X-Com. EDIT: Forgot to mention, if with a 64 bit update, WoW isn't raising any bars. It still needs to jump just to reach the bar set by it's contemporaries. |

Dont tell me all the WoW crowd is that naive and "enlightened". Cant say if this is ment to be sarcasm or not. Also WoW is not DX11. There is no higher quality unless they remake the engine and the game again.

Originally posted by daemon WoW's had DX11 for a while now, before cata I think, but I tihnk it only effects reflections and shadows at this time, but does offer a good performance boost. But yeah 64bit client is great in that it will drive other devs to move to 64bit, though 64bit alone does not improve quality... at this point.

Originally posted by drbaltazar since when has wows main quality been its graphics or performance? performance wise you cxan play it max settings with high fps with no problems 3 years ago. No bar has been raised, they have went 64 bit because they want to appeal to those that have 64 bit systems, nothing more. It is a marketing move, and more fool you for thinking it is all about improving the gaming experience. Ask yourself this, out of all the things wow could do to improve the gaming experience was it really a % performance boost to a game that everyoner plays maxed out and a slight graphics improvement to a dated engine? ofc not. rpg/mmorg history: Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (9500 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(350 elementalist) Now playing GW2/Diablo 3/Rift Waiting Archeage. |

Originally posted by Bladestrom 64bit Client is not an easy or quick thing to produce, plus any one with a 64bit CPU (which is like 95% of every one here) can run WoW 32bit just fine, that's not the reason blizzard went to the trouble to produce a 64bit Client, blizzard have a 64bit client cus someone needs to move the PC devs in that direction and it might as well be blizzard. You should be cheering this move. With each new expansions blizzard improves the engine, Blizzard did not stop adding to and improving the WoW engine back in Vanillia days addtions have incluided; Vanillia WoW = Weather effects BC - Draw distance improvements & partical effects Wotlk - Realtime projected world and character shadows , Shader 3.0 effects, Hi-res textures Cata - DX11 effects, New water shader and world reflections, 64bit client So it gets improvments but it will always retain the stylised look, the look of WoW is nothing to do with the limitations of the engine. A top sepc 3 year old PC could not run WoW @ at 60FPS @ 1920x1080 today, well not in a raid or a city, solo questing maybe. |
