This is the kind of game that I had a small and sweet taste of in classic Alterac Valley years ago. And then Blizzard destroyed classic AV ant turned it into a boring rushfest. Then I had a small taste of it again in Warhammer, but that taste quickly turned sour as the game was lacking in many key elements.
If this can be done right, then make no mistake, that would be the perfect game to me. This is what I wanted more of when I played my Old AV's but which no game company gave me more of. If this is really gonna happen just as is described in the article, then that is proof that there is a god out there and he listens to me. |

Things that should be conducive:
- 3 Factions: Cominations >> 2 Factions - Whole Server Population -> WvW sample, all levels, all guilds open access - Many Objectives: More possibility for snowball effect, types of combat - WvW: provides a solid reason to gear grind?/ Help ppl gear-up? - Variety & size of maps seems covered - Timed 2-weeks refresh stalemates, match servers/fresh opposition - separate servers: Improve performance - we'll have to see it to believe it. Kudos to ArenaNet for explaining their reasoning to potential players - here's hoping it works & could provide long-term entertainment. : ) |

I am very excited about the WvWvW, more than any other aspect.
I hope all the side stuff is 'worth it', meaning that if they do not balance these things out, people will not do it.
I like that they are trying to add a lot of different things to do in the open world WvWvW areas, I hope they expand the number of maps though, its nice that the home world zones are not all the same, but it would add a lot, if they designed even more home maps, then it would make it so that you have a lot more 'exploring' to do in the enemy home realms. It would make going into the enemy lands more exciting for a longer time, with the additional maps.
The home maps in DAoC were some of the nicest parts, the different mobs, landscapes and such. So I am glad not every home area is the same, but it would be a nice addition imo.
I can't wait, just unsubbed from the shortest mmo I have ever played (we can all guess which one that is), and waiting on TSW/GW2 now.

It's official. After GW2 no MMORPG company can possibly be justified in charging a $15 monthly fee. This will definitely usher in the era of the B2P MMORPG. http://medias.luna-atra.fr/gw2/char_tool/CT_imageGenerator.php?pseudo=Tarak&lang=EN&code=&code=TSwtLDIsLSwzLC0sNCw5LDEzLDE0LDE1LC0sMTMsMzUsNDksNTAsNTc%3D |

I know that full individual guild halls won't be present atthe release of the game but I'm kinda hoping that when they do get added in each guild hall has like a giant map on a wall depicting the WvW maps in real time (as in which servers own which locations and which are currently being contested). That'd be really epic imo. |

Almost hard to believe that a Free to Play game with a fraction of the funding is putting AAA P2P MMOs the shame (I'm looking at you SWTOR) MMOs played: WoW, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars, Planetside, Global Agenda, Star Trek Online, RIFT, Everquest 2, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, EvE online, APB |

I imagine they have plenty of funding from NCSoft. And Free to Play is a bit of a misnomer in this case. Anyway, it all sounds fantastic, hopefully it plays that way too. |

Dont fool yourself GW2 is no indie project with a 30 mill bucket I would guess about 80-100 million, not every developer is a bunch of inefficient monkeys that needs 3 times the budget for the same quality an average budget mmo need tho "Some of the less objective people tend to be close-minded though and basically disregard any possible shortcomings that gw2 could have." |
