Unlike many of you I do not often comment on games that I am not playing. Since I am considering this one, its a bit of a stretch to use that as my soap box to say this.
Yes this game has the common elements of 2012 games may I ask, from an objective point of view, WTF did you expect from a AAA developer?
No this game will not die. Likely not ever, until a big long era of riding out the investment finishes. Ask them about a game called Ultima Online. Who knows how much its made but over 10 years I'd go as far as to say it bought a database server or two for the Starwars project.
So go ahead and talk about how this game was to be your messiah but has failed you. Go ahead and proclaim that this game has saved your life and you are closer to your wife because of it. But please for the love of god stop saying things like this game has peaked.
Posting information on how this game will be closed in a month makes you look like the biggest moron on the face of the planet. In short this is their AAA kick, using a major investment, to produce a 2nd gen game based on all the cash grabbing principals modeled by Blizzard.
I hate it, I themepark games and the quest hub idea and all the rest. (Morrowind MMO all the way). But I accept the nature of the game and have no expectations it will change. |

You can't fault fans for being disappointed and exaggerating their emotions into blanket opinions. People expected better from Bioware, a studio that (used to be) renowned for innovation. People expected better from a game that had a budget of a few hundred million, and EA's support and publishing reaches. They overreached, the hype drove to insane levels and plummeted at launch. That said, their negativity isn't without basis. Beta testers have found 7-month-old bugs that had been reported during closed beta in the final, launch version of the game. Voice acting sure can lend a hand to the story, but the story is only one component that makes an MMO great, and Bioware chose to focus solely on it, leading to a polarized community. The engine that drives the game is an unfinished, crappy mess that was bought to save time - the company that sold it said that it wasn't ready for being developed on, but when offered a lump sum of money, they agreed to the sale. The official forums can be handled much better; as they are now, swamped with Bioware fans and haters alike, makes for an unreadable mess. The nature of the game is to be a Star Wars WoW-clone. It was designed with WoW in mind. In such times, (it's 2012 for god's sake), such a lack of innovation is unacceptable (an insult, frankly) to both the industry and its consumers. |

Originally posted by Rekindle I'm sorry...but did you just say you are "conidering this game" and ""i hate it," (the manner you use "hate it" here suggests themepark style games), in the same thread ? If so, and it really looks painfully obvious you did just do this, explain to me why you are considering a themepark game when you hate themeparks ? |
