It is happening again. The hype is building and the haters are popping out of the wood work scared Tera is coming after their game. Here are some facts people. This game is Lineage 3. It was made for specific people.
. People who like Aion . People who like the Lineage series and the devs who made it . People who like fast action based burst combat based on FPS
Take my word most of you keyboard turning clickers do not even remotely stand a chance against some of the pvp'rs this game has already attracted. There ae legions/guilds here who will zerg you then laugh at you on the forums as you throw a pity party. They will camp you until you quit and not care. It was made for a very specific audience and not for the carebear crowd.
The only thing it has in common with a themepark is the quest and probably the end game raiding. This is already starting to get ridiculous. We do not need peoples sob story about how Tera was not their personal WoW killer. I know I surely do not care and I seriously doubt others do.
We do not need the comparisons between Tera's voice acting and TOR's voice acting. Put down the pitch forks because En Masse never claimed it was a WoW killer or the zomg next best evoluion of mmorpgs. They only claimed it had fast paced combat which appears to be true. |

I highly doubt that it will be a WoW killer. I even doubt that it will that popular in the west.

Tera was already labeled as WOW killer, just do a search and you will find ridiculous claims that were being made how this game is going to kill WOW. Some people just never learn and repeat same stupidity every time a new MMO is about to release. |

There is no such thing as a WoW killer when 5-6 million (?) subs are in China. I'm taking a shot of vodka every time I see a reference to a game being a WoW or Diablo clone. |

The folks over at NCSoft would take umbrage at your suggestion that it is Lineage 3, however if you can prove it I'm sure they'll be glad to compensate your help in their lawsuit against the Dev's of Terra. But one thing is for sure, this title has almost no chance of being a WOW killer, or even appealing to the segement of the market that enjoyed WOW.

Originally posted by Kyleran Hey now. I loved Lineage2, I enjoy WOW and I will be giving TERA a serious try in the hopes of it being Lineage3. That is quite the sweeping statement. Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats. |

Originally posted by Shivam It depends...the difference in skill levels between players is apparent. I was watching some people play who were generally clickers and boy was it funny. Like i've stated in previous threads, I watched six people die to Arakia(not individually, it was a 6v1), they couldn't dodge or block for their life. While at the same time i've seen someone solo it. I myself could only get it to half health at best(no pots ;p). |

Well I enjoyed L2 greatly and also enjoyed WoW greatly played both for 5+ years each, so yeah I do enjoy it. I am not the kind of person who cares about putting labels on things, theme park, sandbox, sand park, elite, carebear. If I like it I will play it, if I dont, I wont. TERA is definetly a game I enjoy, my only sadness is that it didnt run with the Lineage IP cause it would have been even more epic for me. Hopefully they will add some sieges later on. Good thing is I dont really care whether or not its successful, Korean games pays themselves at home that this will never close if anything it will go F2P which is ok. So it doesnt need to be the WoW killer at all nor will it be, but this game is def above average.

This is the first time I heard that this game is gona be a wow killer, seriously. This game serve a niche market with its non-tab targeting combat.

It already acttracted a big crowd of ex-L2 players (like me) and that community is anything but carebear, they are hardcore PvPers and only seek the tears of their enemies. If the game will provide us the freedom we will camp you, grief you, gank you, and then laugh at you while we let you cry there in the corner while you are wishing for a peacefull instanced area to grind meaningless for some gear that no one ever is going to care about.... IF they will provide us the tools. This is wat L2 did well, they gave you a world with barely any restrictions and you were to create what you want from it. You had to freedom to do this. It's obvious that this game was a Lineage game in its core because of the concept of the PvP and Political system in the game. It just has Lineage basics.
Also people must understand that the eastern MMO's are not like western MMO's. All western AAA-mmo's I know basically play exactly the same and are either hardcore themepark or hardcore sanbox. The deal with the korean AAA-mmos, like Lineage, is that they tend to have guided and thus a 'themepark'' PvE/Leveling experience but have a ''sandbox'' PvP open world to live in (Except for Aion, they went for the more PvE(carebear a la l2) crowd with guided leveling and some faction warfare). I hope that TERA, just like Lineage, has the guided PvE part and still keeps its sandbox PvP (teritorry control, ffa, clanvsclan). And therefor feels more like a World with ''real'' enemies then a Game (like in L2).

I never played L1... even when they started using "Lord Brititsh" to try and promote it to the west (pretty sure I was still in UO pvp'ing with full loot etc when that campaign went on). I tried L2 and didn't like it...
I have never been a fan of action games or fps games.
I've never been part of this "target" audience you describe.
When I played Kingdoms of Amalur demo... I decided I liked the "active" combat and TERA reminds me of that... I have fun with it. I've tried games like this in the past and never liked them. So its likely if I hadn't liked KoA I wouldn't have even bothered to try TERA.
As to the "WoW Killer" thread title...
I don't ever think of any game in terms of WoW Killer. Tho I often wish I could choke people to death that just constantly talk about WoW in general chat... but that's probably as close to the "WoW Killer" mentality as I get. Then I turn off general... until they move to trade.. then I turn off trade... until they move to LFG and then I turn that off. Suddenly this peaceful feeling comes over me and I enjoy the game.
As a gamer you should never want one game to kill another. So the moment anyone applies the term "WoW Killer" you know they are not a gamer... and instead have some form of personal agenda ... which likely means you should just add them to your block list.

Why would it kill Warcraft? Aion killer? Maybe, but doubtful.
