Regarding forcing people to watch cutscenes, I have to disagree. When doing a quest on the second or third character I like to skip them, I have already watched it and dont need to see it again. Doesnt mean that I didnt appreciate it the first time I watched it though.

True, I hadn't thought of that.

Voiceovers made the game much more interesting. I dont see why anyone would consider it a bad point.

Also, the vast majority of quests in SWTOR were not 'kill x mobs', those were just the bonus optional missions. In fact I dont recall ever being asked to kill a certain amount of things, that was always just a side mission, and the quests usually had a solid motive / reasoning behind them.

Listening to the voice overs is optional, you can skip ahead if you dont care about ambience or motive while you play games. Also you are working on the assumption that not having voice overs would mean a better quality base product, when the biggest constraint for the programming would have been time, not money.

I dont see why you would want less options in a video game than more?

The problem is, as soon as one person hits the spacebar to skip a cutscene with VO, the whole idea has failed. I wonder what it would have been like if there was no spacebar skipping allowed? Maybe it should be compulsary to watch the cutscenes since they spent so much time effort and money on them?

If mandatory cutscenes like SWTOR peresents it were the case I wouldn't even bother with it, I stopped buying Final Fantasy products because of that.

IMO, It speaks to the fact that we'll just have to wait till the industry gets the "Movie-esque" cutscene voice-overs out of their head.  For the time being they'll shove it down our throats like Hollywoods been doing with 3D...  Won't bother making a good movie just add a gimmick and the masses will be enthralled...  Sheep!

SINE QUA NON

I'm going to be honest, if they spent more money on the actual MMO part of the game instead of voice overs that I space bar thru I would have had a better opinon of the game , the leveling experience is good for 1 time only after that you find yourself skipping cutscenes and VO's just to get to 50 and find once you get there , its very limited and falls flat really quick.

All the voice acting does is make me wear out my space bar.

Could not describe it any better, I have the same opinion.

you may find yourself skipping cut scenes but millions of us who appreciate story do not press the space bar , For the first time ever in an mmo- it is the journey not the end that is important

"Money can't buy happiness" is a lie.
Money can buy you a pool and some Prozac.

Millions? Someone is being way too optimistic. Let's wait until end of March, shall we?

First of all, that line has been used to describe other mmos so I would imagine many would disagree with your statement. Pretty much been a trademark people used to describe playing LotR. Doubt that is the only one either.

Secondly, think you're being overly optimistic if you think "millions" fit into this category. I think some of you may be in for an eye opener at how much dropoff this game is having. Wish it wasn't personally but seems that more than a few either haven't enjoyed their journey much or felt like cutting it short.

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

But the problem is the Voice, questing, and leveling up is the only reason why I am still playing this game.  I would rather level up 20 new toons in SWTRO then 1 toon in any other boring MMO.  For me the leveling and voice over cutscenes are the reason this game is so damn awesome and it trumps alot of the bad that endgame brings, not to mention it gives Bioware plenty of time to fix endgame issues as I'll just level another toon.

I never thought voiceovers were that good of an idea in the first place.

I am one of the guys who read the quest texts in regular MMORPGs and one of those grandpas who still think reading does a lot more for your immersion than explosions and voice overs.

I appreciated the choices you had though, and the little cinematics that happened, although they got old half-way through the game. It was a nice touch; But that's basically it.

Actually, I skipped through all the dialogue except for the class quest on my second char already. Because if you break the questing down to the core you do the exact same quests in the exact same order for every character of a faction. You see the same planets, the same mobs, the same locations... I know other MMORPGs have that too (Rift, Aion, etc); But the ones I really enjoyed leveling in offered the possibility to level through different areas with alts. Like LotRo, where you get 2-4 paralell questing areas to level up in, even on the expansions... I won't even go as far as WoW where you had a leveling path for all of the major races and their own zones, at least through Vanilla...
