It's so sad that people can't form their own opinions... Try the game yourself. |

Oddly...
This is not a game I would have normally even tried. I started off as an Archer... then deleted that and split my time (by server due to 1 toon) between a Sorc and a Warrior. I really enjoy Warrior becuase you can't just stand there like most MMO's facerolling keys... well you can but the health related issues would lead you to laying down more than standing still.
I switched the Archer to Sorc because... the vast majority of ranged characters I saw were Archers or Priests. Tho I did play a Mystic for a bit. With the Sorc I enjoy aggroing a crap load of mobs then kiting them all over.
What I enjoy even more are the mob specials... one of them the mob curls up into a ball and rolls over anything in its path. I like that because if you time it right another player is riding by on their horse just then and the mob smashes them into the ground.. which makes me laugh.
Active targeting is fun... I didn't think it would be.
No faction by default pvp... I might decide to try it. I hate factions because then people who seem ot irritate me are my faction... tho since I can't loot them like in UO and such.. I may not be happy still.
I doubt I will play this game very much.... but it does humor me at the moment. Oh and I only played to level 20 so far out of the 22 levels you can hit this weekend.
I'll also throw in I would have played nothing but the warrior... there just happens to be a ton of people playing those as well. Not as many .. compared to lancers but too many. I think they will end up in the "Huntard" category ... because there will be so many bad Warriors... your chances outside of having a guild.. to get groups may be slim. |

With grueling disgust I observe people lash out against the OP, who was simply dismayed by the opinions of gamebreakter.tv, a popular media-outlet. |

Tera is fun
Im a little confused about their skill and ability system, but I am having a lot of fun playing a sorceresss.
I will say the sexualization fo woman in the game is a little strange but look at the demographic its marketed to. As a woman, I do hope as the game progresses I can get a non sexualized outfit lol, but as far as gameplay goes. Lots of fun.
Chat, thats another story. Its like Barrens chat time a gajillion, but blocking is easy and I really want to waste my day away playing this game which is something I havent wanted to do in a while.
I need to know whats up with this island, and the graphics are crazy, like some sort of twisted coloring book dream.
I say try it and make your own opinion and stop letting others tell you what to think. I mean, isnt that the reason the world is so crazy to begin with? To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly. |

Nah, OP your good, this game is utter garbage. You were right to listen to others and not spend a dime on this turd. People bash TOR for not being MMO enough for them saying its a single player game, well there is even less reason to group in Tera. Your starting HP is insane and mobs dont hurt when they hit. You can basically charge in with your sorcerer stand toe to toe with the mobs blow them to hell and loot the healing motes they drop and run off without a scratch. There is absolutely no need for strategy or skill to play this game. So much for that innovative combat design. I would advise everyone to pass on this one unless your into F2P games that you have to pay a sub for. |

Having no fraction and probably No holds bar Open PvP.. this going to be a hard game for the Carebaers. If you dont like to get griefed, you dont like others ingame having power over you, and cant thrive on the challenge of fighint others for dominance, if you are not into twitched based combat, that has more to do with your reflexes and Game setup, sugest a programable mouse like mine ( using a cyborg Rat and g15 logitec keyboard right now) dont have a good rig that gives you High FPS.. the game might not be for you... Also you cant get frustrated by the grind, because this game is going to be grind friendly.... Its a game for me, but many people like the safty of games like SWTOR that focuses little on your social skills(getting along with others and building a comunity) and more on your single player experince... I find those games boring... I liked Dark souls better then Skyrim (skryim still a great game) I loved Ninja gaiden, I play games for the challenge.. My entertainment from a game is the challenge it offers.. The NPC MOBS can be piss easy.. dosent mean the PvP will be... and that is why im cheaking out TERA |

Is this open or closed Beta? You just sparked my interest with FFA twitch based combat. "I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!" |

You can probably fool alot of sex starved males into doing your bidding.. More so if you have a sexy voice IRL... and looking like a sexbomb ingame... Im thinking on installing a Voice distortion program for this.. and pretend im a girl and flirt my way into free gear.... You being a woman dont even have to pretend... Im jealous... We had a dude in our corp fooled for 6 months that a friend of mine really was a girl, using a very good Voice distortion program it was Hilaroious ;) |

Originally posted by Dvalon I'm slightly confused as to why looking at reviews of a product before a purchase is now a mistake? I read reviews before buying my car, my graphics card, processor, tv, all the equipment in my small business, my health/automobile insurance, etc., etc., etc.. The OP is making an intelligent choice to do some research and ask questions before opening up his/her wallet. If the OP just accepted what the reviewers said as gospel, as some of you are intimating, then he/she wouldn't be posting here asking for player opinions/feedback. Seems like someone who is legitimately interested in the game, saw some negative reviews, and decided to double check with the player base. +1 for gathering data from multiple sources before making a decision. I too am interested in this game, but I'm not seeing any way to get into the beta without getting a lucky invite or shelling out $50+. I guess I could go to Gamestop and see if I can pre-order for a $5 deposit, but I hate Gamestop, (and I heard they had an issue with invalid pre-order codes). |

I used to PVP a lot with Taugrim in Rift but after he went to swtor and proclaimed how great that pvp was compared to rift I stopped listening to anything he says.. as for the game it's always best to make your own opinions.. since anyone who pre-orders can get into these closed beta tests just pre-order from amazon and you won't get charged you will get a key then just cancel your pre-order if you don't like the game.

I thnk the problem is that Television and Insurance reviews are... more legitimate?... than gaming website reviews. These reviewers get all kinds of free fluff from these companies. It almost seems like any big developer has these gaming sites in their pocket. They will gush over the wrost games. They call the most stale mechanics innovative. You just can't trust a word they say. "I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!" |

I think the OP clearly should listen to Gary and his gang and not waste the time and try the game for himself now that it's free to do so. No question about it. I mean it's more interesting to hear their filth for 1 hour than download and try the game in that time. |

Originally posted by TruthXHurtsOriginally posted by sgel I will repeat again he is not the same Mike B. But they both love Swtor PvP, there is no coincidence. Can't see why to compare TOR and TERA. TOR is a traditional RPG, TERA is an action role playing game, not the same market. Sure one can attract people from the other but they are still fully distinguishable. Efficient PvP in an action role playing game remains to be approved though... |
