Depends what you are after. My opinion is that you can get about 100-150h worth of value from it, but unless you can play that much in 1-2 month it's not worth it. It's bad as an mmo game and nothing worth spending time with if you are looking for a game to play for years. The value is leveling up a char, which is very fun for an MMO game. Most single player RPG games give alot better value though since they give a higher quality experience. |

Go away come back in 6 months to a year maybe for an expansion. They have many features that need reworking entirely + extensive issues to sort out. |

Get in a guild and you'll find a lot of cool things to do with heroics, flashpoints, Datacron hunts, PvP, crafting for mates, general questing etc...lots to see and explore in ToR! Go get it! |

Don't go into it expecting awesome PvP. Don't go into it expecting no bugs. Don't go into it expecting a real multiplayer/group oriented game. Do pretend it is KOTOR online.
The stories are kind of bland the second time through so consider your alt choices, I would recommend 1 Repub and 1 Sith.. I can't see it last for more than a month or two though.. Some people are still having a blast though so it might just not been the game for me. |

IMO its a great co op or small group game to pass the time for a month or two. Or even as a single player KOTOR type game. If you really like star wars, enjoy BW type games ( story mode RPGs) and have a couple of friends to play with then it may be worth it. If your looking for a MMO to kill alot of time with then take a pass. Sub par MMO features abound in this game. At 50 its more of a lobby game than anything. Either Raid or play the broken PvP in the game is pretty much all there is once you max level. Its a nice journey to 50, especially with a few friends. After that its mediocre at best. A great game for real casual players IMO. |

As with any game, do your research. Read up, watch gameplay videos, read the forums, etc. Unless you don't care about wasting money on a box fee on a game you know nothing of. |

if you're ultra hardcore and expect a lot, don't buy it
I find SWTOR more enjoyable than WoW for one main reason: very well implemented features for casual players that don't want to commit to anything serious. Technically you can, but I would rather player a little here and there and it works so well for that. I can go through 5-10 quests a day and enjoy all of htem because they all have a cool story. also other features let you meet people easier than WoW. eg it takes me a minute to find a group of players that want to finish a group quest, which usually takes 5-10 mins. there are a few of these on every planet and they're loads of fun (Heroics) being in a group is encouraged through Social Points, the more player you have and the more alike are you dialogue choices, the more points you accumulate. Social level lets you have cooler gear same for light/dark points and levels I loved KOTOR and this is definitely a great continuation.
PS I played in beta as a jedi and hated the game. it was bland, boring and uninspiring. I then bought because I wanted to try it again and joined the empire, became a Bounty Hunter and loved every second of it.

Originally posted by DrDream I have spent alot of time both on the offical forums and on these forums.. Reserching the game.. and Im going to give you an Obejetive responce.. The games main feture looks to be its Leveling system with voice overs.. So if you like watching long cut scenes, and enoy levling, and having conversations with Imaginary friends (companions) and you are a solo Orientated player this game is for you.. On the other hand if you are looking for a comunity and engaging endgame content, this game is not for you... people are allready crying for server mergers, bug fixes and many other things.. If Im not being objective and I would give you advice as I would a friend.. I would say there are alot of other Free to play Options on the market right now that can give you as much "FUN" as SWTOR and you dont have to pay a dime to play them.. Star trek online and European version of AION being two of them... Pirates of the burning sea might be worth cheaking out also ( but it has a low population and is a really nich game) You also have free generous trails of both RIFT and other games... and if you want something total diffrent, but this game is not for everyone try EvE... but as I said that game is not for everyone... And if you want a single player experince BuY Skyrim or Dark Souls they are both much better in the story department and execution then SWTOR will ever be.... |

Don't buy man you get more if you buy a single player game like Skyrim, Witcher... anything really. My problems with the game were: Bugs so mayn and disturbing that i got grey hair becouse of them Medicore story not what i expected from a bw game chuncky, at the begining one could call them broken controls/skill mechanics (totaly out of sync with the animations) and the most important thing NO ENDGAME doesn't matter what you play pve (just same old flashpoints all day long and dailys) or pvp(3wz, broken planet open world, quest areas not overlaying no open world at lvling, broken dailys not counting kills) And only way to get the best pvp gear is these damn broken daily and weekly quests (and lucster based) So unles you are a sick altoholic and can take the same shit this game woun't entertain you more then 1 month (semi-casual play) |

It's a good game and worth the money. It has some bugs here and there and they are adding things (scaleable UI for example) that should have already been there at launch. I think they need a better QA department for when they deploy patches though, seems like they are always patching the patch. The game is enjoyable, just take your time and go through it. The stories are well worth it IMHO. Heck I am still leveling and only made it past 27 since I could not decide what class I wanted to play through :) Don't pay attention to a lot of the doom and gloom sayers on here. |

I wont disagree completely with the people saying it is too much of a single player game. But that speaks to longevity and you are asking just about buying it. I don't think many objective people have felt they wasted their money. Me, I am concerned about end game and whether there is any point to having guilds or PvP, but I am certainly glad I bought it and have been enjoying it non stop. whether GW2 or Dominus will steal me away, different question, and depends if they put dev tiime into something other than their (i.e. not my and my guildies) story, but worth the box price, worth the sub for a while definitely. "Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga |

Well I was in beta and I like the game , I still play . I have a great guild that I met in game a couple days after release, we do flash points together and pvp together most of us skip all the cutscences with space bar since we just want to shoot things. -PVP is not the greatest but still fun for me . - Story is really in depth but worth skipping after the first time through - I find the flash points fun and engaging even after going through each one a zillion times - leveling up can be done solo or in groups which is good on days you cant find a group or your guildies are in the middle of something when you log in . This game is not for everyone but it will be around for a good long time . If you are curious about the game either buy it or wait for a trial to come out . The game isnt hard to level in it's on par with wow for leveling . |
