Originally posted by xZeRGz Well that is just your opinion. Many people including myself have loved all but the most recent Final Fantasy games. Meaning 13 and 14. In all honesty I was ok with 13 but the bar is set very high when it comes to Final Fantasy games and it clearly did not meet expectations, but was an OK game as far as I'm concerned. 7 is clearly the most favored among the masses but I loved 9-11 just as much or even more. 12 was pretty dang good too. |

Originally posted by k11keeper I loved 6 and 4. 7 was still good, but it was the start of a downward spiral in my opinion as far as single player RPGs go For MMOs, 11 was one of my all-time favorites. 14 I wanted to like, but was hugely disappointed. If 2.0 makes it more like 11, I'll be happy to give it another chance. But not before then. |

Does this mean FFXIV is surviving? Then it is a good thing. Guild Wars 2's 50 minutes game play video: |

People who played 7 as their first FF don't really have valid opinions on the series IMO. 6 was way better, and 8 was better story-wise (and a huge leap in graphics and pre rendered scenes, if that counts for anything). 7 was great, but it wasn't the best by far.
As for 14, I don't even understand what they thought they were doing, and I was punished here for complaining about the game. I couldn't post when the forums exploded with disgruntled customers, but it still brought a smile to my face. |

18 to 10? The way you guys talk as if they would only need 1, or maybe even just a half of 1 to fit the whole playerbase in.. Compressing the pop may actually get me to pick this one up and give it a try myself.. “There are dread secrets that none may know and have peace. More, secrets that render whosoever knoweth them an alien unto the tribe he belongs to, that cause him to walk alone on earth, for he who takes, pays.” -E. Hoffmann Price |

Wow this is really bad all the guys posting in this thread don't know anything about the game and still act like they do lol Anyone that playes the game knows well that everyone here is a bunch of haters that without the knowledge of what is going on in Eorzea they bash for no reason. Just to answer the guy that asked how is the game now compared to release, the game at the moment is like day and night with what it was at release. It feels a lot like FFXI which was a masterpiece and the closest game to FFXI is FFXIV if you want a game like that. Jobs like in FFXI are coming out on next patch with artifact gear and weapons that you get by doing quests. Also no need to level the jobs if you class is allready 50(cap) you can do quests to get the skills.

Also, a point that hasn't been brought up here (as far as I can tell): The way they are doing these merges is kind of questionable, to me. Instead of doing it logically (e.g. Take the highest pop server, and the lowest pop server and merge those, then the second highest and second lowest, etc...) they are making every PAYING character choose which one of the new 10 servers to go to. Not so bad, right? Well, they are then taking any remaining characters and randomly spreading them around all the servers. So, if you tried the game and took a break until v2.0, you will likely not be on the same server as your friends whenever you end up going back to the game, unless you pay them money now to avoid it. This basically shatters the community, and ensures that anyone who tried the game and left will likely never return. I mean what would you do if you returned to an MMO with your buddies and you were all suddenly on different servers, unable to play together? |

Huntari you forget that when 2.0 comes there will be another server choice for everyone and may add more servers since they will start a campain to sell the final product for PC and PS3. |

^^^^ take this with a grain of salt, the only real way to judge a game is with your own senses. What this is, is an opinion. I'm still subbed to the game and I can tell you the difference is no where near as "night and day" as this poster says. Things have been band aided to some degree but this game is nowhere near the level 11 was on after a year of being released.
The UI is still god awful, battle is slow, the grind especially in the crafting classes is mind numbing (and people wonder why turbo controllers are being used now). Grand companies are glorified faction vendors that have no real impact on anything besides lore and the give u some quests to breeze through. Auto attack is back so we are right back to square one with that. Market wards are slowly turning in to a glorified auction house so they might aswell just do it already. I have no idea why they want to cling to the wards so bad they are just making a half asses glorified Auction house.... patch 1.21 still is not here yet so we dont even know the particulars on that yet. The biggest change to the game has been the addition of chocobos, which should have been there at launch. This game just feels archaic in its gameplay and design and goes out of its way to inconvenience you in stupid places. Is it worth paying for? I dont know thats up to you, I'm paying up until jobs come out so i can see if they are a game changer for me. If not im unsubbing till 2.0 drops and hopefully that version really delivers because i like their ideas i would like to see them realised.
Edit: dont really know why my post appeared up in the quote but ya whatever ^^^^ Edit Edit: WOO fixed it haha |

Originally posted by patsfan32 I like this ^^ at least you're playing and you know what's going on. The battle/wards/company/auto attack is personal preference, you don't like it others do. I see newcomers die so easy and I understand it takes some time to learn the game and that's what I like about FFXIV it takes some skill not gear like the rest of the "fast" mmorpg. Did ifrit fight with the whole party naked just weapon equiped and got the win and that alone proves it. Skill over gear is all I want, that kept me playing ffxi for 7 years which is the longest time i ever spent on a video game single player or online. I have only 1 complain the population cause makes party/group play hard, so that's why I'm happy to hear merge is on the way. All the complains above to me are actually good things. You want faster combat go play wow all you need is to press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then repeat and jump like a bunny all day. Why complain about auction when wards now are pretty much auction, SE just wants to make an extra $$$ per retainer that's all it don't need much to understand, you get free 2 retainers then you buy them $1 per retainer. |

There using the same payment method as turbine did. Well if that was the case they should have made this game free to play. But yeah i think i will wait for version 2.0. FF 11 was my first love. And was wanting to play this game so bad until i heard this game was badly made. Edgar F Greenwood |

"Masterpiece", improved like "day and night" compare to beta. man, it's alway amusing me when i see those fanboys talk about their beloved "bedridden" FF14. this is why i'm still around when there's discussion about FF14:D i stop played when they start charging monthly and the only thing i like from FF14 is .....the famale miqo'te. but she alone wont be able to make me to stay. patch 2.0 will totally change the game? sorry, in NA we dont pay for promise. |

Of course 2.0 is about a year away, and the PS3 version won't even be in Beta until Autumn 2012. Lol. |

Masterpiece was for FFXI and whoever played ff11 knows well what I mean. FFXI was the ONLY MMORPG PERIOD, you were forced to party at all times solo wasn't an option back then and it felt good. All haters in this post are: SINGLE PLAYER ONLINE gamers that want to show off and talk smack that's why they like the ONLINE part. |

too bad, dude, i'm already in college. your 5 years old of whatever will have to wait then. at where i live, which is NA, we dont tell people go to school on a GAME WEBSITE. it's personal. whoever telling it are either also struggling with the language or having personal issue. so dont say it out loud or people will know it. yeah, masterpiece so that they just copy all class/profession from FF11 to FF14 and call it a NEW GAME. sorry dude, i understand everything with a FF name is masterpiece to you, but here ,we dont judging thing base on name. |
