I mean, all the videos I have seen showing females having them wearing a thong. Is this true throughout the game?
I have nothing against it, but to have them wear thongs and guys have to wear full plate to get the same protection... seems a bit unfair.
How do the chicks who play the game feel about this?
Plus, I have no doubts 99% of the females characters are guys who just like to watch their characters run and jump... |

It depends on the race that you pick. Castanic, being the incubus/succubus equivalent are the most liberal with clothes. High elves are a bit less so, humans less and so on up to the point where you have a choice of an asexual race, the Baraka. And no, both male and female armor of certain species are sensual. So you can have your skimpy armor if you pick a certain race on both genders or you can have your guy/gal look like a lobster instead if you pick another race. Choices ... choices ...
Btw, the whole discussion is very similar to the one prior to launch of Age of Conan, only back then it was about boobs and nipples. In the end the gameplay prevailed and the gimmick that is the clothing preference doesn't receive that much attention any more, as it should be. In other words, no amount of cleavage will keep you in the game if you hate how it plays or the content provided is not good enough. Feel free to keep producing free publicity for the game though, I'm sure the skimpy armors are not here for this exact reason, not at all. Edit: Too many typos. |

Most mmo's aim at young males, and young males either want to play a badass character, or something as slutty as possible, female gamers just have to cope, I'm sure some "womens liberation and equal rights group" will take it up in 20 years from now, but for now, they'll just have to cope.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that World of Darkness is gonna focus equally on male and female gamers, since there was a healthy mix of both genders in Vampire: The Masquerade.
So there you have it, when females in games become more common, and there is a market (ie. money to be made) on them, that's when we'll see a change in tone.
Imagine if females were the majority of gamers, males would have to cope with pink bunnies as mobs, and fireman outfits for armor.
I take what I want, when I want it. |

oh god... another 'chainmail bikini' thread... This is a high fantasy game, it dosen't need to adhere or be restricted to historical reality. It's not about 'fair'. The ladies that don't like it probably don't like being called 'chick' either.
And yes, plenty of males play female characters in these games, a fact that should only bother you if you play them as some kind of dating or cybering service, which the majority don't. What they find visually pleasing shouldn't bother anyone else but themselves.

Male leather and female plate is damn ugly... :S
Edit: ^ Was about human...
The elve stuff all look alright on female, but weird on males. I take what I want, when I want it. |

I usually play a male character - there's just something 'odd' about playing as a female character that i dont enjoy.. but each to their own eh .. im sure the view's better though.. ;) However, last night i let my girlfrriend loose on the Tera character creation and she loved the sexiness of the outfits and the characters in the game. She eventually settled on a Female Elven Archer. So just to say i dont think females are really put off by the sexualised armour / outfits etc - she really seemed to kind of like it. I like it, she likes it - it's all good :) I think it's just down to individauls at the end of the day, it's a fantasy role playing game. I dont think the game would be as much fun if characters were running around in T-shirts and jeans, or suits whacking monsters with their briefcases, umbrellas.. The point of Fantasy is to escape normality, if it takes scantily clad warrior princess's so be it... Atomo - Guild leader |

Yeah, I will never play an elven male... when his stance is greater in sexiness than the females.. and he does not get a thong...
It seems the more armor you get, the less you wear LOL! |

Its the rule of fantasy adventure. The less skin a female's armor covers, the more protection it offers. |

after seeing those pics, i don't think i'm going to try it. not because i feel like it's kinda unfair to women (i do, but a good game can make me look past most of my moral hangups) , but mostly because it requires a suspension of disbeliefe that i am not capable of. giant weapons? sure. impossible physics? absolutely. being able to be stabbed 500 times before dying? but of course. metal lingerie as armor? you lost me. |
