Yep, it's been years since I've played an MMO that allows this type of thing. I'm not going to down themeparks because IMO they do serve their own purpose, and that purpose is guided experiences for those who want that. There are a lot of gamers who prefer that in a game, and see no purpose being served in additions like this. They don't want to create their own fun.  I understand that, I just think they're cutting themselves short by having such a preference.

A game like this will foster a real community experience, real friendships will be formed. That will happen because of additions like this. It's simple really, offer players a world and tools then let them make what they will of it, best game concept IMO.

Gotta say the game looks awesome..

Well I know what race i'm gonna be cat people are awesome.   So far from all the videos I like everything about them, I'm trying not to get hyped but its kinda hard when this game looks so cool.   Free Trees lets cut, too funny, I agree.

Everything about Archage seems awesome. Except for all the anime/manga stuff. That class which plays a guitar with hearts and junk (a skill tree called Love? ugh).  Turrible. I have a feeling it will flop here in America because all the anime stuff.

Games don't flop because they  look a bit anime, the myth Westerners don't like the look of Asian games is just a myth that people like you parrot to make yourselves sound smart.

 

Blade & Soul is much more anime than AA and it's one of the most anticipated games.

I refuse to play games that have a strong anime look. such as final fantasy. Im a westerner. Im sure there are more people who feel like i do.

that beign said, I dont think AA falls into that anime style. atleast not very strongly. I'll be playing it for sure

Wow that was impressive. This game may restore my faith in MMO's in general. These videos look like what an MMO should be. Not the rehashed themepark games we seem to be stuck with.

While this probably wont appeal to the masses like ToR does, MMO gamers who actually enjoy the Massive part should love it.

Hoping this game is even half as good as it looks. Why cant western Devs come up with something like this? I dont mind the eastern style at all, but would be nice if a western developer would look at this, take notes, and make a game. Instead of taking a copy of WOW 101, copy paste, add lightsabers, PR spin, use word innovation alot, and hope for the best.

Oh well, maybe they will learn =(

I don't care if this game is the MMO Messiah or not...it will be enough for me.

Even GW2 looks kinda hackneyed compared to AA.

Edit: This also might be the game that convinces me to return to RPG PvP.  

Every new video i see of this game blows my mind!  I really like the bloody foot prints, housing, tree planting, underwater everything, ships, gfx, gliders, open world, farms, climbing trees... Next week there will be a video of something else i never knew i wanted!!

Actually the scene isn't all that bad that he had to run away...lol.  The dude who owns the orchard tells him, "it's fine to cut the trees, but will you return the tree trunks?" (I'm assuming the tree trunks can be replanted to grow them back?)  then this russian dude just says, "free trees - lets cut" and runs away...hahaha

It has been frustrating visiting MMORPG.com lately because there is basically no news at all that interests me.  So many terrible games out right now....  I wish ArcheAge would talk more about their NA servers.

The gliding in this reminds of Nausicaa so much...

That kraken/giant octopus fight at the end of part 2 is incredible.

If this game doesn't come to the west and if it doesn't kick off here I'm going to be highly disappointed in the future of these games.
