Oh man was I wrong.  I do enjoy the story of the game and the voiceovers, I always hated reading quests in games. But one thing that I noticed about the game, there is way, way to much fighting in the game.. It seems like you can't got 2 steps without getting into a fight most of the time..  I tried to sneak around as much stuff as I can, but still it jsut gets annoying fighting and fighting.

Sure you can send your companions to do stuff and craft, but that is all the Non combat stuff there is, or at least its all I found. I guess I should just give up on  trying to enjoy Themeparks.  Just to clear things up Im not a SWG fanboy I never got to play the Original SWG.

I wouldn't say thats a themepark problem, i see no reason why a TP couldn't have fewer but tougher enemies and prolonged fights.

I agree though that some games overdo it a little, what with placing enemy groups every 30feet. I think it has been a part of the fantasy genre for so long that people simply expect it, they would probably call the world dead or something if they wouldn't have to wade knee deep in blood just trying to get to the next landmark.

Personally i think more enemies, especially wildlife, should be neutral(or hidden or ... something to make it less obvious that there are 50 people standing on a field of grass checking the flowers and waiting to get massacred ...). Also my head always hits the keyboard if some wimps 5 level below me charge right into the meat grinder ... "Guys, you attack me with sticks knowing i have a heavy assault cannon and you can see a freaking war droid standing right next to me ... WHY?!?", its a game i get it, but sentient beings shouldn't behave like that, not even animals are that stupid.

I mean obviously enemies should attack if there is some way in hell they could theoretically win(like a disconnect or popping a bloodvessel in the brain ...), but getting attacked by critters you pretty much onehit just annoys me.

P.S.: One thing that comes to mind is CoH(i just play that so i noticed), most npcs(outside instances) there are always doing stuff, trying to rob someone, smacktalking to each other, doing some sinister ritual and they do tend to space them apart quite a bit. Also there are lots of civilians just living their daily lives in the cities, cars driving around, policemen doing their thing etc. And yeah, they also try to get away if you seriously smack them around. Its far from perfect, still fully within the limitations of a themepark, but hey its a 9 yo low budget game, you can see they are trying.

wow , usually peole are whining the combat is to easy. n ot that there is to much of it. Dont get me wrong i love themepark games and tor also

I think u just wont like themepark games. i tried galaxies thinking maybe star wars would make me like sandbox style games, for some reason i just cant get into them

im gonna try archage if its free 2 play when it comes out but for the most part i perfer themeparks , not liking a game because of its style as is the case with u is cool

i understand why also, sandbox games do offer u so much ore to do to level outside of combat unfortunatly most themeparks dont.

It is a themepark issue. Most all themeparks are taking the easy route. The solo route. The "i win" route. The kiddie route". The lets make it so easy and linear a monkey can play it route.

Themeparks are all starting to turn into console rpg games and still expect you to pay for it. We havent see a true epic mmo (themepark or sandbox) release in years. The mmo games released now are like playing KOTR, Zelda, FF series, and so many other console rpgs.

Its shocking how dull, lame, borring, dumb down, and limited these games ahve become. And no this isnt an attack at TOR personaly. But mmo's in general, more so for themeparks are like kiddie games now, so simple and easy. Its sad, realy is. As an adult i would like to use strategy, skill, my brain, and so much more. In TOR i was soloing heroics by myself.............!!!!!! And people dont see a problem with this because they want solo console rpgs. And ruin an entire industry/genre to do so.

what class are you playing? I found the Jedi/Sith types to be extremely boring because of all the fighting I had to do, but with the ranged classes it's actually kind of fun.

I can snipe things from a distance or avoid them all together with an Imperial Agent. it's definitely a little more refreshing.

unfortuantely, the coolest class in theory (Jedi) is the most boring to play in SWTOR and has one of the worst storylines too from what I heard....

for me I was never a huge straight sandbox fan(games like fallout 3, elder scrolls, ect I found I get bored with). I like themeparks that give you options in classes and abilities. For me I played SWG for about a year because it WAS star wars.. but so much of the game was pretty bland and boring because it was so open yet a lot of the planets and such had very little actual life on them... either way It was a good enough game to hook me for a year. Now I feel the whole point of a great game is to hook people no matter what type of MMO they like. If it's an amazing themepark game and pure sandbox fan should find some enjoyment out of it. If they don't I feel the game itself fails in many ways. I don't feel any game goes into development and they sit around and say "ok this is EXACTLY who we are making the game for and no one else. These types of games are made to be played by the largest possible amount of people and just my opinion but I feel they failed hard on this and really cannot start to think how this game got so far into development without anyone stepping in and  saying "wait a second shouldn't we at least try to break the mold here".

MMO's by their nature are not complicated games, it's part of being accessible. Top this off with the fact that MMO AI was never sophisticated. You only have one conclusion, easy game-play. You can hide the ease of game-play behind massive hitpoints, but all in all it's still a simple AI system.

The only way to make it "hard" is to make it painful to die, then you're losing the accessible part of the equation. It's either doable while solo or not, everything has usually been easy when approached in the manner it's meant to be, even in raiding or PVP the hard part is motivating people to do what they're supposed to be doing, once you have that out of the way, the rest is a cake walk (gear depending at times).

And soloing heroics of equal level by youself? WHich ones? Or are you referring to single heroic NPCS? Just about every class quest ends with one of those, which they can be tough, depending on class, but there's always a way to beat them if you're level appropriate.

Yeah thats why i said mmo's in general and i agree we need some more to mmo's. Not many sandbox games out now so cant realy pick one over the other on a fair range. MMO's dont need to be so hard you need 20 guys to beat a mob, but not so easy either. A good balance. Though in SWG a few areas were pretty tough for awhile til it went easy mode (DWB, Krayt canyon, SBD's, etc).

Ah i guess i was misleading there, i could stealth through an instance of heroics 2 and once in awhile 4. Stealth in, sneak, put npc's to sleep while stealthed, get to target, unstealth, kill or click on item, stealth, and move on. Not all but some. I was realy wanted to have my butt handed to me. Not all of them were like this, had some to be really a pain in the rear.

NGE killed SWG. Get over it like the rest of us did in 2005.

I feel thats the core of the issue, also neatly illustrates why i don't think its a TP related issue. Main stream games are getting easier, no two ways about it. Wether thats a TP MMO, a Sandbox MMO or even a solo RPG doesn't really matter since its the focus on the broadest possible player group that causes this. Only reason why sandboxes tend to be different is because they tend to be aimed at niche groups in the first place.

Yeah I've done that myself a few times as a scoundrel. And same results here, I've had my butt handed to me a couple times trying to do that lol. I've noticed just about every dungeon has routes for stealthers to take, sometimes it requires jumping over obstacles, but only a few spots I've seen made me go right through an agro zone. I do feel NPC's could use a little better stealth detection in their arsenal.

Yeah i can see it, "Train to Zone, Train to ZONEEEE!!!".

If you think the game gets harder just because your doing two man content solo i don't know. This game never is hard, hard implies some correlation to skill/knowledge with which you can overcome a situation. This game goes neatly from impossible to loose to impossible to win, its as tidy as a mathematical function. Just because you can't solo instances or 4 man content doesn't mean the game is hard, you just discovered the hard limits of your class/gear/companion combination.

Nowadays its all about gear gated farming progression, even in PvP. People don't want to loose in BGs or OPvP just because someone plays really well, premades are bad enough tyvm.

I feel like if a OP/Scoundrel jumps someone out of stealth and puts him on his face 90% of the time the fight will go the exact same. Im sick of WoW asmuch as the next person, but watching a skilled mage fight a equally skilled rogue in that game was a joy(talking vanilla/BC, pretty much stopped after that). And that was because each had a whole bag of tricks to choose from.

Just to clear things up Im not a SWG fanboy I never got to play the Original SWG.

what class are you playing? I found the Jedi/Sith types to be extremely boring because of all the fighting I had to do, but with the ranged classes it's actually kind of fun.

I can snipe things from a distance or avoid them all together with an Imperial Agent. it's definitely a little more refreshing.

unfortuantely, the coolest class in theory (Jedi) is the most boring to play in SWTOR and has one of the worst storylines too from what I heard....

I am a Sith Sorcerer and I got bored quick.. I did play a little bit of the agent and liked it a little.  I may try playing that and going Sniper and see how that goes..  I was just trying to play a different type of class because I usually play ranged classes, so that may be my problem as well.

Not sure who said it, but about the combat being to easy, thats the problem. It is too easy and there is just too much of it.
