All jokes aside, when dealing with technology things go wrong.  Sure better preparation could have helped, maybe not, but we don't even know what the exact problem is.

The important thing is to look at how they handle it now and after the problem is solved.

The beta schedule has been posted for awhile now and the CB starts next week, this was just them wanting to test the hardware before the start of CB.

The game is fine, it has interesting no tab-target combat and most importantly, MESMERIZING BOOB PHYSICS... and apparently that's all you need these days.

its a common tactic.. most games these days seem to exploit 'sex' to sell games, AoC and the infamous 'nipples'  .. MO and.. well less said the better.. even SW;TOR where women are all at least DD..  at least they don't run around wearing loin cloths (do they ?)  its like the old advertising adage i guess, sex sells...

I remember one MMO had a 2 days downtime because of a different currency in the account screen. Don´t ask me which, I forgot.
It happened long ago though.

First of all, we are talking about server not being online and ThorHal said he know it is not frogster's side. I am just curious how he could be so sure. since he said he is not talking about it out of his ass.

secondly, I play TOR but I don't PVP. I have no clue about something is wrong with PVP nor do I care. PVP is always wrong anyway. Learn that from all my previous MMOs. No one is happy when they are weak against others and no one thinks they need to be balanced when they are too powerful.

Third, the server was down after about 10 mins being up. It is not the same with different currency in account screen.

They should've just IP blocked everyone not from europe.

Now their servers got zerged by zillions of people all over the world.

From what I read on german forums the game wasn´t hyped at all. If someone can prove me wrong, please do it. I only read 4p, and there are no threads about it - there are some about GW2.

That´s why I think Frogster were caught with pants down with all the sneak peek wave.

A friend gave me a key but I gave it to someone else. I didn't realize it was for EU servers at first. So I am not one of those :)

Somehow I don't think they gave out a Zillion keys. And they should be prepared for the # they gave out to log in don't ya think.

I wasn't pointing fingers :) I'm naturally inquisitive and was wondering if what it all came down to is a zerg. Like a poster said earlier, they were caught with their pants down.

I can answer exactly how ToRs PvP passed beta -- for the same reason it took an entire month for major issues to happen on Ilum -- it wasn't tested thoroughly enough.

I was a long time tester 6+ months, and played a few characters to (near) max level (not to max due to not wanting to see the end of the story arcs) ..

Simply put,  it was desolate at the high levels,  thats why most of the low level content was so well polished.

Near the end of the beta process they were going to put in High level servers.. but that fell through, so the majority of the high level content, especially, PvP gear, PvP imbalance at end game, and not-well-thought-out open world mechanics happened the way they did.

Though, that has nothing to do really with the problems being encountered here....  At one point TOR did have minor server maintenance issues that would take hours to clear... but that was after servers being live 24/7 for days to weeks at a time.
