SWTOR is for a certain demographic. TERA is for another demographic. Please find your demographic and play the appropriatte game so the forums of each respective game are not flooded with unneccessary posts that will get ignored because the devs are not catering to you. |

Yeah, seriously. What a stupid post. SW:TOR's best features were its Cinematic cutscenes. The game itself is a joke. TERA may suck too, but judging a game on its cutscenes is purely stupid. |

Ive got the beta client thats not under nda and I will say the opening cutscene is pretty lol. But in light of SWTOR, that most likely means they have spent more time on actual gameplay. |

MMOs generally have lousy openings. Heck, seen Rifts? That was was even worse. But the opening of a game is a few minutes, what really counts is the time you spend in game, which can be years. It will be interesting to see how TERA do there. |

Originally posted by afhn2110 I would not go so far to say that because to be honest it's true. That does not mean that Tera sucksorz, it just means that they could have done a better job on the opening. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Still like WARs opening the best of them all. We all know how well WAR did in the end and my opinion of the game is aligned with the majority. As cliche as this sounds... "Don't judge a book by its cover." |

TERA does have a weird opening cutscene, but throughout the game you will actually have a bunch of other, much more impressive cutscenes, usually presenting bosses you have to defeat.
Also, the gameplay is where it's at and it's fun! |

I'd much rather have that and a fun game than a cooler blur video like Earthrise had and then a game like... well, Earthrise. Honestly, this is the most mind-bogglingly silly thing to critique. Seriously, of all the things to pick, the OP managed to pick one of the few that actually has absolutely nothing to do with the game itself. What's next? The art on the box isn't up to snuff? Maybe there's a typo in the lore blurb on the back? lol gimme a break |

I'm not saying they should go way overboard, ala TOR, but make sure they at least have a well written little script, with some exciting music or something. I'm of the opinion that it can even be made of gameplay footage, as long as its well pieced together. Doesn't have to be expensive, but should be taken seriously. I found Tera's cinematics to be really tacky, and while I can personally look past it, it's sure to put some people off, and I can't entirely blame them.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

The style used in the intro reminds me of my most favorite RPGs of old. The cutscenes further into the game use the game's engine and look kick-ass. BlueHole doesn't waste money on CG cutscenes. It's not needed if your game engine can handle it unlike...certain other games *cough* ![]() |

The OP is correct about the quality of this cutscene HOWEVER it is not an original part of the game, it is NEW, and was added for the western release, there are several original openings that the Korean version had, that you can see on youtube, all of them much, much better, but lacking in direct exposition, so this cheap thing was knocked up so our foreign minds wouldn't be confused. Even though this premise reminds me of Glitch. |

Here is this new intro for comparison (not quite as cheap as the Rift one taken out after beta)
And here are the ones that we should get at the start.

Lucky Koreans, still after 20 yrs of clumsy western butchering of Japanese and now Korean anime and rpgs, I guess I should be used to it.. |
