Is it somebody's birthday?
Awww I'm just kidding. Bit premature to say they dethroned wow though. But seriously, it's quite an accomplishment regardless. Shadow's Hand Guild The Secret World - Dragons Planetside 2 - Terran Republic Tera - Dragonfall Server |

Well let's see... WoW has about 2 mil American subs, 7-8 mil Oceanic/ EU and Asian subs. So SWTOR is nearly even with WoW's American subs in it's first month. Grats BW. I see BF3 owns too. |

My advise to u kids.Dont fall in to fake facts. They just want to get some players back because they are in a very bad position. |

Originally posted by Zeal77 Asian players specially in China have no subs. No blizzard really doesn't have 10 million subs. Even in the new chuck norris commercial they say 11 million "players." Currently Playing: SSFIV AE, SFxTekken, SWTOR, WoW. Waiting for: GW2, Resident Evil 6. |

So they sold 2 mil copies, and 1,7 mil stay subed after initial 30 days? That must be the biggest retention rate ever... Sounds impossible, but EA would never fit the numbers...

Originally posted by kostoslav The 1.7 mil includes the free 30days. You are an active subscriber soon as you give them your credit card info. Give TOR another month or 2 and then take an accurate reading. The 30days included in their numbers are talked about in some of the links posted in a few of the hundred posts on this :) |

MMO sandbox games are as exciting as watching paint dry. |

Originally posted by Onomas The 1.7 or 2M plus, whatever you wanna call it, is pretty much more boxes than SWG sold during its entire existence. Not a bad start, especially when they also dumped a ton of money into SWG as well. Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget. |

If the game was named lets say "StarFight Online" and was absolutely the same, it wouldn't sell even 200k copies. The game sells only because its Star Wars. Other than that this game does not deserve all the hype it gets, because it does not offer anything that havent already been done. |

SWTOR is the only game I play when I am having toruble sleeping. It is so boring it knockes me right out every time, so thank you for that BW! On a serious note, they should be congratulated on a very successfull launch, but in all honesty we will not see how 'successful' the game is for a couple months now. Not sure how much they put into production, but they need to make more than they paid to produce the game before most people would call it a success. Just saying. |

Yeah, but not really. I can see by your catchy signature block (not really) you dislike sand box games. So that automatically makes me think you are adverse to challenge, but I will put this to you anyway. 1. How much money went in to the production of SWTOR? 2. How much did SOE pay to get SWG through to the end? I am betting that Sony paid a lot less than you think. But I don't know, I never cared enough to go fact gathering. You however, seem to have some knowledge on the topic so why not enlighten us? |
