i am a current WoT player and while surfing this site for info on new rpg's coming out i decided to check and see what others thought of WoT....i was appalled by what i read so i decided to take a little of my limited play time and come here to shed some light on the things most often that make players angry cause they dont understand it . View Range is the mechanic in WoT that most often causes raging and this game sucks rants . Every tank has a View Range that is measured in meters (Meters = m). The most common complaint i hear on WoT is abotu invisible or disappearign tanks . and itis directly related to this mechanic so i ill try to explain this painlessly as possible (being a war / weapon junkie and a US Army vet helps me on this ,lol ) For example lets say you are facign and enemy tank in an open field with 1000m between you and him .......open field nothign but grass between the 2 of you , lets say your tansk has a view range of 400m .........you will not be able to see him when the match starts , as you view range is only 400m and he is an additional 600m away . So the match starts and 2 of your teamates head over to the enemy side and start to attack the tank in question ....all of a sudden he pops up on your map and screen you can see him ......so you start to fire on him ......Why can you now see him ? Because your teamates if they have storng enough radios on thier tanks are relaying by radio his position to your tank . So in the middle of this fight .......lets say your 2 teamates are destroyed but the enemy tank is still alive .......you will see him for about 3 to 5 more secs after they are destroyed then he will disappear......Why?? Because he is still 600m out of your 400m view range and the destroyed tanks can no longer relay you his position . now if he moves towards you and enters the 0 - 400m your tank can see (provided there are no rocks trees buildings bushes or other crap in the way .....you will be able to see him again. This is how the mechanic works and its working properly. Now lets say that the enemy tank in question has a 500m view range and moves towards you, but your tank only has a 400m view range .....when he gets 500m from you he will see you and be able to fire / hit you.......but as your tank only sees 400m , you wont be able to see him . so you will get killed by an invisible tank like most of the ppl complaining on forums ....its not that the the tank is invisible ...the game is working fine ....that tank has a longer view range than you do and in order to see him you will have to close with him to 400m (your view range ) or a teamate with a radio will have to spot him and relay his position to you . When i die like this i refer to it as being View Ranged .........veteran players know when this is happening to them and seek cover ......new players say "WTF im getting killed by invisible tanks ...what a bunch of hacking cheaters " |

You are so right Murphy, just one small problem with the view mechanic. Next time you are outside take a look down the street say a mile or so and tell me if you can see that pickup truck parked next to the house. Well in WoT you CAN'T see the 60 ton tank parked next to a house 55 meters away in some cases. That is totaly unadulterated BS and just one more of the reasons that this game is dead man walking. |
