Originally posted by BloodyViking No, the OP provided his version of events. You're the one who decided that it was all true. I'm saying that perma-bans aren't handed out on a whim, and that a YouTube meme isnt' enough. If the OP got perma-banned they did far more than they're admitting. And further, every developer, including Bioware, has the right to ban people if they feel it's justified. |

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV. |

Originally posted by BloodyViking It's cute how you keep trying to patronize me and talk down to me. It won't work, though. The only fantasy around here is the one that assumes that the OP is telling the complete truth about what happened. Again-- businesses like making money. They're not in the habit of being unreasonable assholes to their customers without a damn good reason. Game developers aren't any different. No one gets perma-banned without giving the CSR a damn good reason to bring down the banhammer. |

Hope you get a few cent from BW/EA for your most excellent defense of their customer "service". You earned it! I see its rather pointless to argue with you anymore so I'll just wrap it up. |

Lets look at this a different way. There is a legal requirement that the account holder must be 13 or over. Just like it is a legal requirement to be over 21(in USA) to drink alcohol If you went into a bar and said to the barman "Hey, Im 16, can I have a beer" he is gonna throw you out. If you then produce ID showing that you are 21, he will let you in(If you are lucky! I would bar you for being a dumbass!) All the guy has to do is prove he is over 13 via the appeals process and he is sorted. Anyone that thinks he shouldnt be banned, needs to realise that Bioware has no way of proving that he is 13 or over. Maybe they should have temp banned him until he proved his age, but the same process still applies. You think Bioware should ignore the law and their own TOS? I seriously expect that he did something more than this to get banned though. Its a classic case of someone doing something they know is wrong, then whining all over the forums saying "I got banned, I did nothing wrong". Just like the Ilum chest farming... Can't blame em, after all only 12 year olds use meme's and chat on douchebaggy forums ;D
But instead of making such a big deal, just appeal. If he was really convinced you were under 13 than he was just doing his job.
On a sidenote... You obviously do care, why else would you make a video? xD (that was towards the "I don't care" statement in the vid :p)

What certain people who have no clue need to understand is this: The law is the law. It has specific wording and DOES NOT CARE if something is intended as a joke or not. Once someone violated the wording or the law, someone HAS TO TAKE ACTION. IF not, then that violated the law. When I was a military cop, I often had to do things I didn't want to because the law was clear on what I had to do and what would happen if I didn't.
The first rule that anyone over 12 should know is that you never put anything in print that can be used against you. |

Originally posted by n3v3rriv3r That makes no sense whatsoever. If we follow your logic fake videos doesn't exist. My example at the very least shows it's healthy with a bit of skeptisism. But you go on and believe everything you see online. That's your choice |

Originally posted by stragen001 Bioware are NOT the law and thefore can not write their own laws. As much as you might like to believe it, Biowares TOS is NOT Law and accepting it does not bind you to anything "legally". That would have to be decided by a court of law NOT Bioware. Most TOS would never stand up in court. |
