Originally posted by wizyy You're talking about lighting. The shadows cast by trees and various doodads are from the advanced lighting engine, which I already said was impressive. It has nothing to do with the quality of the terrain itself. |

Originally posted by wizyy Those shrubs/doodads aren't really anything more advanced than what the current crop of MMOs are doing. I'm mainly talking about the ground itself. There are huge swatches of completely flat ground with a texture slapped on it. Read the post I made before the one I quoted yours and you'll see that I gave an example of what I consider to be 'good' terrain. I also said I don't expect an MMO to pull off that level of detail, but I am disappointed that it's not any better than what MMOs have been doing currently. |

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV. |

it has to be how it is because of the place where they chose there world to take place in, it mostly resembles our antilies islands so they are going to be flat. Also the seige weapons have to be able to move around as well as decent leveling for building planting and ect. |

Originally posted by EvilestTwin When you have thousands of players all wanting to build houses and grow farms and like the person above said, move siege weapons, you're going to need flat space. You're moaning for the sake of moaning. |

Originally posted by spaceport Crysis is neither linear nor a console shooter, however I don't think it's fair to expect this graphics from MMOs just yet. |

Originally posted by EvilestTwin Except the players can plant more flowers/shrubs/etc if they wish to. Find the ground around your house dull? Plant some flowers, some strawberries, clovers...your choice.
Let's take the 3rd continent for instance. It's pretty empty, flat, and basically nothing exceptional scenery wise. Well some player thought it would be nice to decorate it a bit. And that's what he did: A forest! My IG neighboor also made some sort of half moon logo with strawberries she planted. I shall take a screenshot tomorrow. So yes, sometimes the scenery are dull and lack details because they are meant to be filled by players.
That's not to say the devs are being lazy though:
And lastly, from CBT3, but still:
