Trying to understand the mentially of some of the people that post here or generally on gaming forums. Why do you care on how horrible a game is doing? Do you need everyone to quite the game before you can move on? I know haters gonna hate and all that but why waste more of your time on something that turned out to be a bad investment? I see people making graphs about how the game is on the decline. Really a graph? You're hating that badly that you need to draw it out for people? I buy a game, I don't like it, I stop playing and move on. Life is to short to be hating on something. The world is filled with so many things to look at and do. Step out of your troll suite and rejoin the human race. |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

As the sig says, why do you hate hate? Some people like to talk about the negative side of games in the vague hope that someone out there 'gets it' and the next one is better. |

I don't care.
Thanks for making the thread, I hardly ever have a reason to post in the SWTOR forums. All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick. |

Originally posted by ive82syko Your issue here is you are trying to understand the mentality when you should be questioning it instead. Some people really have an unhealthy obsession with this genre bordering on some form of mental illness. It's quite normal to go somewhere and post about something you are dissatisfied with but to do it all through development, during beta and through lauch can't be considered normal behavior. A normal person would have moved on long ago. |

The fact is people 'hate' because they care about the genre and want to see value for money and not hyped-up rubbish.

Most have invested so much time in another game that they simply can't stand the thought of another game coming along to provide competiton to "their game". Even if they haven't played the new game, they'll create hate threads citing a random hate blog as facts. I guess "their game" is all they have going on in their life and is the bright spot of their day. So in that sense, I can somewhat understand why they do it. One can only hope that one of them will land their dream job helping design a new game and then recieve the same treatment they have given other games just for the sake of doing it. (That was a joke. We all know that none of us on the forums will ever have successful careers doing that). |

Hundreds of people have not subbed and therefore can't post on the official forums anymore.
So they will come here to vent whatever it is that needs venting... |

I dont have any hate about a game, I would not even understand this.
After reading reviews and a lot of threads in this forum, which did actually lead to buying this game I have the feeling I need to write my view on the game and my expirience after playing a month. My expirience in the last years of gaming and also in this forum tells me that there were always people who did overrate and hype a game. They have to bear with the feedback after people actually did play the game ....its just simple. |

Suppose a person really loves Star Wars and really loves MMOs but thinks SWTOR isn't good? Their only hope is the current SW MMO fails and a newer, better one is made. MMO's based on beloved IP's will always cause strong reactions. This should be fairly obvious. On a more abstract note, even if you don't care about SW, lets just suppose you are a big fan of MMO's as in-depth world simulators and you really don't like the trend MMO's have been heading in for a while now of being themeparks that not only don't encourge player interaction but sometimes actively discourage it? Again, your only hope for the industry to change direction is to hope the big investments in the current trend fail. A slim hope to be sure, but its all you can do. |

Originally posted by ive82syko Very good question Well for me its two layered. 1. Gaming is my obsesion. And I strongly feel that SWTOR is hurting MMO gaming. And has to fail in order for MMO gaming scene to change and finally stop rehashing same old formulas. 2. We call it forum PVP here. Its just something we do. Its like a game of sorts ;)

This is the home of the SWG Veteran Refuge. They actually have an entire forum dedicated to whining about what happened to SWG. There's a good chunk of the angst coming from there.
Plus the crowd of gamers who just like to whine in general, or got into WoW 5 years after it released and think that's how it was at launch, not realizing it takes at least a year to get a good polished MMO. I have never seen one released in a "solid" polished state with no bugs/missing features. |
