I highly recommend these artists if you want to listen to rap before it became what everyone hates today. If people would listen to rap that was actually good instead of Soulja Boy and Drake it wouldn't have such a bad rep. If you even remotely like hip-hop, I'm telling you check these guys out you will enjoy. Edo G- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXUwBXeL4yM
Scientifik- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUYT0oWr6sQ
Lord Finesse- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQbAhPR_4P0 (chick named Marquee is on that song too, shes nice)
One Be Lo (part of duo called Binary Star) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKQnjr8jNg4
DMG - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19-uw8whMrQ (second guy is Cozy K aka Coz, also nice)
INI - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MIkzyYm3Pk (possibly my favorite beat of all time, Pete Rock produced)
K Solo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59RcSfeuulE (this beat also made by Pete Rock)
Kool G Rap - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNGIahjziiE
Krumb Snatcha - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PituB1rdE_Y (produced by DJ Premier, another great producer)
MF Doom - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZwQSbpOU_k (used to listen to this song when I raided in WoW for some reason lol)
Sam Sneed - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei9B6Nh7ahM (very good song its a big metaphor about dope and how bad it is)
Willie D - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps86aqww-4w
I know there aren't a lot of people who like rap but for anyone that does seriously take a look at this stuff, I had a hard time just picking which song to put after each dude they're all good
If no one cares I'll just crawl back into my hole....

niche genre I guess other rappers you shoud listen to (some are new, not all new rap is horrible): Afu-Ra, Arsonists, Big Daddy Kane, Big K.r.i.t, Big L, Big Mike, Camp Lo, Cam'ron, Currensy, anyone in DITC, Da Grassroots, Diamond D, Fabolous, The Game, Geto Boys, Gravediggaz, Group Home, Hyenas in The Desert, Jadakiss, Jag, Kid Cudi, KRS-One, Los, Lupe Fiasco, Main Source, Meek Millz (he used to go by meek millz when only philly knew about him now he dropped the z so its meek mill), KMD (MF Doom goes by a lot of nicknames, his early stuff was under KMD and some of my favorite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiXwrM2lbDk), Mobb Deep, Nas, Notorious BIG, Rakim, Wale, Wiz Khalifa (not so much his newer stuff, not a huge fan of that), anyone from Wu-Tang (my favorite is GZA), and last but not least Wale. My top 10 all time would be (interchangible after the first 2): 1. Notorious BIG 2. Nas 3. Big L 4. GZA (also goes by Genius) 5. Scientifik 6. Edo G 7. MF Doom 8. Tupac 9. Lord Finesse / Diamond D (they worked together a lot) 10. Lil Wayne Yeah I know #10 contradicts what I said in the OP but his early stuff is good (not the block is hot, that was garbage, but after that til Carter III he was nice.) |

Nice ones. If you're willing to try listening to something here from Denmark, this shouldn't be missed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpAt2W-8x7g&feature=related You might not get the lyrics, but the beat is still awesome =) |

Glad you added Nas to the follow up post. ;) Where's Talib Kweli?! Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

I was leaning more towards lesser-known artists in the first post thats why I didnt mention nas or big. Talib Kweli is good too, I just wouldn't put him in my top ten |

No love for Anticon?
Why? cLOUDDEAD Doseone Subtle Reaching Quiet Themselves
If you haven't ever listed to Yoni Wolf (lead man for Why?) I'd highly recommend his album "Alopecia." I listened to it on repeat for about a year after it came out.
Also some other random off-beat rap: Doomtree Collective P.O.S Atmosphere Dessa Darling
And of course Southern rap beats the shit out of west coast or eas coast: Geurilla Maab (old Z-Ro collective with his cousin and some other dude. Download the SLAB'ed version (slow loud and bangin). HCP (Three 6 Mafia, Juicy J, T-Rock, Lord Infamous, Lil Wyte, Project Pat, Frayser Boy, Tear Da Club Up Thugs) And some random recommendations: Tyler the Creator Noah23 Cory Gunz Buck 65
And thank y'all for the lists. I was needing som new stuff to download. |

whats the deal with Tyler, The Creator am I the only one that thinks he's terrible? |
