Am i in the minority that graphics are a big deal? It seems like games that came out 4-5 years ago like AOC and LOTRO have better graphics than games being released now. To me "personally" they help immersion so much. I cant get into a game that i think looks like crap no matter how good gameplay is. It works vice versa that i wont play a game with great graphics and horrible gameplay either. But why are games that were released years ago graphically superior to games being release now? |

I'm pretty sure everyone, even yourself, prefers aesthetics over graphical quality. Example: While Rift may, objectively, have better technical graphics (i.e. higher polygon count, and shaders, etc), I think the environments and terrain of the game is ugly and character models are poorly done, just as well... I'm in love with the Terraria aesthetic and it's done in 2D. In your case, I believe you're also a fan of the aesthetics of AoC and LoTRO. They just happen to also be graphically impressive games.
