Water disappearing when a camera goes beneath it isn't a BUG. Calling it a "bug" implies that it was unintentional. Bioware didn't even add splashes and sound effects to their water until three weeks before launch. Any stream or pond or lake is still dead silent when you go stand next to it. Its the BARE minimum amount of effort to be considered acceptable. They, don't, care, about, their, water. Its not a bug. Its an intentional lack of giving a crap. |

What are you talking about? I'm not saying water doesn't exist in the game. Oh, and nice job on calling me a "troll". Nice use of nerd terminology there. |

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Originally posted by holdenhamlet is it really common? can't swim under water in LOTRO Can't swim in Aion I don't recall swimming in Guild Wars Couldn't swim at all in Lineage 2 when it was released I don't recall coming across swimming in my time in CoH but there very well could be swimming areas somewhere in the game. My thought is that games don't add swimming unless they have some sort of underwater content. It's probably unfair to point out SWToR in this regard when other games don't have it or have limited swimming. |

Its an intentional lack of giving a crap." Which goes back to what I said about it's a non issue IMO, because there is no water enviroment in game.

Yes, exactly! There's no water content in the game, so they don't give a crap about their water. Thats why its in the condition that it is currently in. I.E. its junk. |

They skipped swimming because it really adds nothing to the gameplay. TBH there is no point in simulating water and swimming unless you do it properly or it just feels shoddy, no MMO has managed to do that yet. E.g. no swimming in armour, water with currents and not being able to swim up waterfalls. Also as quite a few AOE abilities are targetted on the ground, they simply wouldn't work properly in deep water (which is a design flaw wow has). |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkyqSmFgNe0 Age of Conan took water seriously and it has some fun under water content too. I expect Guild Wars 2 to take that kind of content to the next level. I expect SW:TOR to never touch water or under water content in its entire lifespan. |

Sometimes people make it hard not to bring other games into the discussion... But on topic - and I mean on topic. If the game's going to have points where players can point out obvious graphical issues, then they should definitely have taken steps from preventing obvious graphical issues. Because this screams lazy development.

I don't quite get what the big deal is with the water. There's no underwater content and there's no swimming, so who really cares if the water is anyrhing other than a single blue plane? I fear the day the whiners realize there's different types of rock in the world and then start complaining about the lack of realistic igneous/sedimentary/etc in their video game's terrain. filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community. Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix? filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |
