Originally posted by ScoutMastr This was one of the killers for me. I only played in the last beta weekend but it was immediately obvious that the planets were totally static. Nothing moved. Even groups of mobs just waited for you to kill them. In fact if that guard from Skyrim had walked past me and complained about his poor knee that would have been a bit more interesting. All the quests seemed the same. Ok they had a nice story but usually it just meant killing a bunch of static mobs in an instance then returning.

I hear ya. Lets just wait until D3 is released and the next big MMO that will make us all forget time and space will be Blizzards Titan. In Blizzard we trust, all other just copy and fail. |

Im enjoying the hell out of this game. So good.
And I say that as a SWG pre CU sandbox fan. It's really well made if you take it for what it is. It's a launch product. |

It is funny that when someone doesnt like a game they are told they must be burnt out from MMOs and should take a rest.

I'm sorry for your loss. Are you the same person that yesterday posted that SWTOR beats GW2 hands down and that GW2 is an epic fail? http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4653806#4653806 And now, one day later you're burnt out on SWTOR? Are you being serious? |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

Originally posted by JPTX good advice for anyone who has 'overdone' the MMO thing.. how many people play various games for 5 or 6 hours a day and then wonder why after a few days.. or even weeks.. they feel burned out.. sometimes i think its important to maintain a hobby that doesnt involve using computers.. and to self monitor computer useage and try and set a daily or weekly limit.. |

I have like a 34 SI Sorc, 15 Bounty Hunter, and a 8 Agent.
I listen to the story on my main, as I play it mostly with my wife, and I listen to the story when I play with her on guys, but you repeat most the quests, so I hit space bar to skip everything most of the time on my alts. I feel a little guilty, since this is supposed to be the big selling point, but I have a hard time caring about the story when a lot of the responses are about the same, no matter the choice, and your choices effect almost nothing. The biggest thing a choice has done that I can see (since I am grouped, from my time in beta, and having to deal with others choices that would be different), is that I let some guys brother die, so I had to fight him...Sometimes you go do something a little different, nothing big and nothing that really has lasting effect that I have seen. The story is the story, and no matter what box you click, you will be the same place at level 10-15-20-25-30-35... You get dark/light points, but even those options are limited and sometimes screwy, and the system kind of penalizes people that would 'roleplay', as the light or dark counts against each other and their is dark and light gear....So if you make complex choices, you kind of screw yourself imo....I always pick dark and my wife always picks light....My wife left some brain washed girl in a bug cave, because it was a light choice ( she didn't think it was a 'good' thing to do)...
The game is different and I will get my money out of it, but I don't see the staying power in the game, I guess once everyone is max level, it may be easier to get everyone on the same page, that may be something to help it.

Imo people are just putting 2 much time and hope into these up and coming mmo's that have yet to be released...they build them up for years and then when the release date hits the actual game you purchased and are trying to play is nothing like the game you had envisioned and built up in your head for years.
I bet that if you dug up some threads on TOR from last year the associated words people would have used then to describe it would be dramatitically different to post release.
I preordered TOR and got into the early access, played till about lvl 25+ish then quit...for the very reasons Scypheroth did...im currently enjoying EvE now |

Originally posted by Sylvarii Lol, in my world being able to change your mind and admit it is a sign of maturity rather than inconsistency. In fact, I'd rather believe people who are brave enough to admit they were wrong than those who blindly stick to what they know is not right just to preserve their "integrity" - which is usually nothing more than bloated ego. It takes integrity to admit to yourself that were wrong, that you changed your opinion when presented with new facts or experiences. And it takes bravery to publicly admit so. You are all right by my book, Scypheroth. |

Agreed, though I don't think you should come into any games forum claiming that it is the best game ever, or that it sucks, until you've logged enough time in it to know if you even like it or not, or are just looking to say "I told you so". Especially when you insult other people's opinions pre-emptively. If and when you DO change your mind, you'll just look kind of hyper. That being said, if I like the game I will be honest enough to say so, since mostly I've criticized either EA's involvement or the game's dependence on WoW mechanics. Without having played the game, I'm reasonably certain it's nothing "revolutionary", but neither is Cave Story on Steam, and I love that game. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Don't be surprized if you play a game 4 to 5 hours a day for two or three weeks, and then all of sudden you become burned out. Currently Play: ? |

If it's time to quit, it's time to quit. Not for me though, thankfully :). I wanted to type something really smart as a reply to this subject, but the Scarlet Blade ad got me distracted and I forgot what I wanted to type. |
