Just to remind you guys when wow came out first day it was 400,000 swtor= 1,000,000+ subs first day
just putting it out there. See the difference?
oh and o course bioware knwos how many subs they will have because you have to have a subscription to play. Its no 1,000,000+ forum registered accounts mind you. :) |

In before people rightfully respond with "wait until the free month is over" or "wait until a few months from now". We can't cheer quite yet :)

This is so fucking retarded. Just think about the context. When WoW came out, MMOs weren't as famous as today. Warcraft's Lore has never been as famous as SW's Lore. I could go on all night. Lucas could write his name on his poop and it would get millions of subs on first day. Just watch as time goes by, the hype will fall and the subs as well. |

Wait a moment, you have to subscribe to play the game even if you have the 30 free days... |

Well WOW changed everyting, and now expectations are very different, since much more people are playing MMOs, which also are much more expensive to make. Seems SWTOR is not going to change anything, despite Bioware claims. |

Just wait on the EA shareholder report, then you can probably give numbers to the success. Most mmo companies lay off developers after launching - any ideas if EA will do so again? |

They said they wouldn't. They said... Will they? IMO Yes. They're now on their "super-hype" wave. But when it'll all fade away, and starts getting less money : the context will change hehe. |

How many of these 1mio 1st day subs did players cancel right away, as people technically had to sub to get their 30 free days? Shure Bioware would count these "subscription for 3 minutes" as subs. But then, all i read was them stating "1mio registered users" in that recent launch interview. |

If we accept the number from the VGA-charts website, SWTOR was / is a huge financial success for EA/BW. Whether it is a game that'll appeal to everyone is another story. It appeals to me but everyone's taste in games are different. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

one side of me wants to point out that AoC had a million the first week also, but the other side knows I am just waiting till summer and I will be buying and playing it too. |

It was anticipated that they would have at least 1 million that was the base line most were expecting. 1 to 1.5 million.
Will all see in 6 months if they made a MMO with an end game that keeps subs or it is yet another in the long list recent MMO's that start off with big numbers only to lose a significant amount within 6 months of release. Personally I think they spent to much time and resources on things that are more novelty than anything else. Novelty does not keep subs.

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Originally posted by Sector13 For the brief scan I did on NCSOFT's financial stuff, they look pretty good. There was an 'adjustment' that happened a few months ago on their share price, but other than that it looked solid and the price reflects what it should be. I wouldn't worry about Aion at all as it is a really solid revenue stream for NCSOFT. Wonder why there seems to be more haters on the internet? Read this by an actual marketing guy to find out why. |

Originally posted by jpnz 3 million to 3.5 million subs sounds solid to me (from what I read on other sources). Them going F2P in EU and possibly NA would increase their revenue even more. |
