I personally find it rather amusing that people keep banging out the same old tired points and ludicrously rose tinted posts. For all that though it would be nice to think that given the game is now closed there would be a decrease in the melodrama.

Awesome, hope it's all very cathartic for you. Unlikely, in fact far more likely just to make people more bitter, but there you go. |

Originally posted by routesman And your any better by implying that we "the NGers"are in "your boat" now? i guess that means "we" should not have any understanding or sympathy for what you went through before and we face now? So far from what ive read your doing exactly the "same" you say "others" are doing to you. both versions of the game were dear to different ppl, and to many in their version it was "more then just a game" to them. At this point since its closed its rather moot to argue with one another as we are in the "same position". Some will move on, others will go to the emu, and some will carry the friendships they made elsewhere. Im of the mind that swg had much potential, especially if elements from both versions were used in combination with each other. considering the direction the newest SW mmo is taking, i feel that too many games are adpating to "wowlike features" when they instead should have features setting them apart from other games.

Originally posted by wizyy This is one of the most uninformed, silly posts I've read in a while.
SWG in 2011 was NOTHING like TOR. SWG was player driven in every aspect - had extensive sandbox features from storyteller, crafting, cities, social features etc etc. TOR will never be even half the game that SWG was at either in 2004 or in 2011. |

Originally posted by saay NGE TRIED to be the game that Lucasarts wanted it to be - WoW with lightsabers, but SOE couldn't or wouldn't change the whole engine, probably couldn't handle the cost. They really should have done that - make a new game to appease Lucasarts and leave the original game alone. |

Originally posted by wizyy Well, you could say it tried to have certain elements such as heroics - but after that you dont know and therefore cant say what they were trying for it to be. Oh and by the way, no need to use yellow to get your point across, i'm still going to read it. |

Originally posted by wizyy You can never enjoy SWTOR in the same way as SWG. It is seriously lacking. SWTOR is no where near SWG. The NGE was still the SWG we loved at heart. SWTOR will never be a replacement to SWG, it is a great addition to the Star Wars universe, but no where near a replacement for SWG. Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

Originally posted by LordRelic SWTOR sucks at being a MMO. SWG was great as a MMO SWTOR no where feels like Star Wars, and half the time I have to remind myself I am playing SWTOR and not STO. They are both rather similar. SWG is the only MMO I would keep subbing to, all other MMOs once you hit max level, and have fun at top level for a bit, there is nothing to do. Once I have done the stories in SWTOR I will probably quit unless they add better crafting, space and Beast Master or things just as complex even if different Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

I played for seven years, even after the NGE SWG was unique. A lot of posters believe SWG 2005 just after NGE was the same as the NGE that shut down two weeks ago which isn't true. I would pick SWG even in its NGE incarnation over TOR every single time. |

Yes...the original implementation of the NGE sucked.. But the developers made strides to improve and repair that over the next 5 years. The SW:G that was Murdered 2 weeks ago was not the SW:G that you played in November 2005 or Jan 2006. It wasn't the SW:G I played in 2004 or 2003.
It was just SW:G.
And for the pre-NGE haters that quit SW:G and never came back...
I hope you enjoy ToR.....because its a poor excuse for an MMO with fabulous voice work and cartoonish graphics. MMO History: 2528 days in SW:G |

Originally posted by hipiap I'm enjoying the hell out of SWTOR, thanks. Maybe you just need to move on and get over the fact that your game is gone and isn't coming back. See what I did there?
Btw, I played swg multiple times since the nge was first introduced and each time it felt the same to me. Some of the bugs were gone and the performance was better, but it was the same gameplay experience for me. Last time I played was during one of those vets trials in 2009 (or was it 2010?) and it felt the same as it did in Dec. 2005, when I left. Same clunky UI, same combat (but with the addtion of target lock), same classes (with that stupid skill wheel thing) and same the low population (even lower on my last one since my original server, Intrepid, was gone). People that claim that swg was a vastly different game from when the nge first came to be are looking at with rose coloured glasses. There was more stuff added to the game, like the storey teller stuff and instances like Hoth, but the CORE GAMEPLAY was almost exactly the same.

To ditch SWG after NGE, is like a loved one losing an arm or a leg, or going blind, deaf or dumb or all of it! Then not having anything more to do with them. Now with SWG closing it is now like a loved one dying, and not up for getting involved with anyone again. Some people can take years, and for others it can be never. I guess those who found it easier to give up on SWG, never really cared about the time and effort they put into their characters Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012 |

I seriously doubt people who played the original SWG and people who played the NGE have different rates of how likely they are to try SWTOR. Both versions of SWG were sandbox games, although one more than the other. We are united now... If you look at this thread, you see a lot of people bashing SWG in various ways, but few of them were ever fans of either version of SWG. They are just people trying to defend their themepark mmo, SWTOR. SWTOR is just a star wars version of WoW with some added single player elements. Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net.
