It just amazes me that when you read people who complain about how poor crafting is in games, and how little 'surprise' factor is in it, that they still claim ToR crafing is a "time sink", lol. Someone really needs to sit a few people down and explain it better than I can because outside of Vanguard, I haven't had as much fun crafting without actually having to have my character there in any other mmo in history.
I can remember grinding for days (not hours) in Rift in Theo just hoping to get some gear drops or camping bosses in the hopes that it MIGHT drop something I could equip so I could start doing some Dark Poeta runs. In ToR, you don't need to do that grind. You can make your own gear or buy off the AH right away or get through questing. You can even get gear to do Flashpoints simply from Pvping which is a twist from other games. |

This is the point you keep missing san.. you don't have to "spend time crafting". You don't have to gather ONE single mat.
If someone is a crafter and wants to kill mobs for mats (I do Armstech/Scav so I like to kill and harvest robots) they can do that. Or I could simply tell my companion "Go get me some mats". In most other games, crafting was a 'niche' because the best gear dropped from dungeons but you had to do other dungeons to get there. In ToR, you don't have to do that. You make purples or go Pvp and then you have enough right away to start raiding. |

First, who says near endgame quality gear is supposed to be 'hard to obtain'? That's the old mmo way of doing it that makes people tire of grinds. There isn't any reason why very good gear can't be earned or CRAFTED that is almost comparable to top end gear to some degree. Do you realize how many people complained about that in Rift and left?
There is purple gear. There is also recipes that drop from dungeons and come from doing things like Treasure Hunting as skills that you can get.

Not to point out the irony but you just told a vetern Rift player he can do something in TOR he can already do in Rift. Not all or any patterns drops in raids. It actually upsets the hardcores lol
This is a losing battle you are trying to tell someone driving a BWM to start driving a pinto |

The irony is that for months the crafting in Rift was B A D. Period. Things people sold weren't worth anything. It took months of crying for Trion to even address this and you're crowing now about them finally getting to the point that ToR is on RELEASE?

Twice. At launch, Trion had so many attacks on their system and people stealing accounts that that had to invent "Coin Lock".

You want me as a Rift player to go deal with this shit seriously? People telling me to roll alts to 50...fully gear those alts...then only use them when I need to heal.
wtf is this 2008? You have to be one dense dev to remotely think not having dual spec was a good idea. First thing Rift players will ask for in TOR is crap YOU GUYS HATE. I am not sure what this push is to get Rift players to play a game that is missing features Rift player loved and you guys hate.
Give me addons...give me macros...give me a dps log so I min/max my rotation...screw dual spec I want atleast 5 specs...where are my daily hotfixes to fix issues? Content better be every 43 days or I will rage. |

You have your addons in Rift. Stay there. Please. The LAST thing I would want is for someone who was "AION IS THE BEST GAME EVER!" for two years then "RIFT IS THE BEST GAME EVER!" for 10 months to go "TOR IS THE BEST GAME EVER!".
Unfortunately based on riftstatus.net, you've kissed Rift to death already. So please, for the sake of ToR... keep your addons there, keep your three button raiding play there, keep your daily hotfixes and "Hi All, we are briefly bringing down the servers for 30 minutes" every other day there.

First of all acquiring best gear from crafting is not easy infact it is very expensive and based on RNG. You will have to reverse engineer a lot of purples and sink lot of money in underworld, investigation mission types. You would be lucky to get maybe one peice of legendery item which will be as good as the raid gear. Purples break into superior version and then if you are lucky you will get an epic from that superior purple which in turn can give you a legendary version. You think this walk in the park for crafters? For crafter it is going to be an accomplishment to get the schematic they are looking for and i bet you will have to pay out of your nose for those gear peices. How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release? ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6. Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs. |
