Originally posted by scarfull Nah, there are issues. I sat in queue for 3 hours to get on my assigned guild server tonight. I didn't cry and whine about it, just went and did some other stuff while waiting. It's a pain and disappointing but not the end of the world. I was there for the AoC launch, WoW launch with it's queues and loots bugs... It's really rare for an MMO to have a smooth launch and everyone should know by now that early access is really a stress test for launch day. Happens every time. |

I dont really see the issue, the game is not good enough to bother waiting in queues so just go do something else. I really wish I had not wasted my money on this now, it doesn't even feel like a Bioware game IMHO.
I guess the primary advantage of living in the excluded redzone is the queus are short or non existant if I want to login. |

Originally posted by Pocahinha It's going fine if you ignore the queues. The game itself is running very stable, for me it is anyway. They knew how many pre-orders they had, so they should have been ready with the servers. This evening at 9pm EST almost every single server had a queue. Some up to an estimated hour and 45 minutes which in reality was approx 3 hours. There are other issues as well, some annoying bugs they still haven't fixed, some people are having launcher issues and active account issues, but it's not the catastrophe the OP is making it out be. It's a smooth launch in the sense that the game is playable, servers are stable, etc. |

In truth it was a little jacked up. I preordered the first day you could, and after playing the last beta weekend, I enjoyed it, but not nerly enough to justify paying the money I was going to for the CE edition, so I cancled my CE preorder and just decided to wait till Walmart got it. But then I got an email saying I was able to log into the game for the early access, so out of curiotity I tried it and sure enough I was in and playing on day one. Apparently Amazon is a little slow in telling Bioware that I canceled my preorder through them, and I know alot of people who cancled preorders that got into early access. Not sure how they could fix this, but I am sure there are alot of 2nd/3rd day pre-order peeps that had to wait while some 1st day preorder peeps got invited to early access (even if they did not use it) and took a spot up.

Umm Star Wars TOR HAS NOT LAUNCHED YET. Launch date is the 20th. THIS IS EARLY ACCESS, NOT OFFICIAL LAUNCH. The game runs mint. It is more bug free than most mmos out for years. They trickled people into EARLY ACCESS to have a secure start to the flood of people. This was one of the BEST launches in MMO history because it all works great and it HAS NOT LAUNCHED YET.

There was several 5+ servers tonight that never even reached high status. So there are more then enough servers for the time being. No matter how many servers that add people flock to the higher pop servers. More servers does NOT fix que problems when people want to play on certain servers with there friends. They have said from the start that they want the servers to have healthy populations. So they are only releasing servers as needed to meet the demand. Otherwise they will end up just like WOW with half the server listing setting at low pop 24/7. |

Originally posted by adam_nox Those are some pretty big claims... I urge you to look up the launch of Anarchy Online... Now that was a mess.
Personally i think it have been goin pretty well.. Not to bad ques for a new game that want to avoid the "lots of empty servers syndrome" and apart from some stutering in the server selectiuon screen ques have worked well for me (no random dropping or crashing) and once in game things have been silky smooth and bug free(apartf from some texture errors but that is because i have an older GFX card).
So i have to say that you are way out of line, This have been a good conversation |

Lol , I must really laugh out loud about these posts about how great, or not great the launch is of SWTOR... There is only one MMORPG that has the best launch in history and that is RIFT.....
All companies can take an example how to launch a mmorpg on Trion...
Amen. |
I've gotten only 5 or so hours of sleep the last 3 nights, as I just watch the forums and server status page for updates. Now it looks like it's going to extend into tomorrow, when my family is coming 3 hours to my house to celebrate my birthday. FML.
This is something you are doing on your own! So stop blaming this game! It's your own fault that you decide to stay up and watch the forum and try to access the game.
As said before, this is a early-access and not the official launch. By the time of the official launch, I think they will have added moe servers and upped the server limit capacity. If not... then you will have a larger queue
Thank god I didn't bought this game just for early access. It seems other games have though me not to buy the game anywhere near the first 1-2 weeks after official launch. |

Originally posted by adam_nox Listen I was an avowed SWTOR hater for the longest time as my post history will demonstrate. I always knew I would try the beta just to re-assure my hate was justified. Turned out I was wrong and I didnt get to pre-order till Nov 20th. I always knew even way then that they were trying a brand new approach to rolling out a new MMO. To great amazement it has succeded but I had to bide my time and wait 3 days later then someone who pre-ordered in July or August. Its the price I pay for being a hater instead of giving yet another themepark MMO the benefit of the doubt.
The only players who are jaded are the me first, microwave generation. You had your chance just like the others and if you dont like it then quit I am sure Bioware could care less if they lose a whiner.
The staggered approach is amazing and should be the gold standard for all future AAA releases because it keeps the servers stable, the player base spread out instead of bunched trying to kill the same mob, and in the end reduces or outright removes the possibility of merging servers due to opening up to many and not adjsuting to the inevitable player loss that comes after the free month is over. |

This is called EARLY ACCESS! |

I haven't seen a queue once. Smoothest, fewest bugs and so far best EARLY ACCESS period of any game/mmo I have played. Staggering is the entire point of the early access so to fill servers properly so they can mature. I can only assume that the servers with the queues (again I have yet to see one nor any of my guildies on our server) are because they are filled with the most newbs who can't leave the starter worlds fast enough to allow the population to spread out.
If a queue if large then talk to your guild and move to another server. The guild placement was a best attempt feature and even Bioware mentioned as much. I know queues suck but if many servers have no queue then it is your own fault sticking to one with a queue. |

Darkfall was the most poorly executed launch. They literally lost 100k sales on not being able to sell digital copies of their game because they refused to open more then one server or make a server capable like Eve to support the playerbase interested. Everything I say is my opinion or personal preference. You may or may not find it useful to your cause but regardless I am entitled to it. |

Tor being a bad launch i dont think so seen much worse game plays well even with a full server. Somtimes have to wait to get in not a huge deal. |
