Originally posted by Supersoups It's not like that. There's a reason why he phrased it in noob lingo. "I find SWTOR more enjoyable than WoW" "I like SWTOR better than WoW" "SWTOR is better than WoW" "SWTOR is sooo much better than the crap that is WoW" It's easier to accept the first three but the last one screams of foolishness/brainwashing. With the two games playing almost the same I couldn't understand the people who disses WoW so badly but praises SWTOR. |

What i find foolish and brainwashing is that SWTOR has a lot of features to distance itself from WOW but people conveniently ignore that and only focus on what is similar. However, thanks for coming to his defence even though his post was one giant flame bait. |

There isn't much use for the 'other' people in an MMO anymore... other than to fill your Instance Queue or be window dressing bunny hopping around the town. The main purpose of the MMO model is to be able to charge you an additional $15/mo.
Hopeful that the success of Minecraft and maybe a truly massive game like Planetside 2 claims to be, will lead some developers off in a new direction and actually try and innovate vs. just slapping a new coat of paint on the same game we've been playing since WoW arrived. |

Okay "soup", I'm certain your dignified name and butt hurt opinions matter more so than the obvious blaring truth. I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. |

Sandbox mmorpgs are cool in theory, but the problem is that the devs (and a vocal part of the sandbox loving playerbase) want a sandbox game to be "hardcore".
Unfortunately what you fail to realize is that UO did well because it was like the only major MMORPG for while. You can't keep going back to the arguement that UO WAS SUCCESSFUL WE SHOULD HAVE A GAME LIKE IT AGAIN!!! If you release a pretty UO now a days I'd predict a vanguard style flop.
Vanilla is awesome till you realize there are other flavors. |

WoW and SWTOR are just the generation of MMO's out now, the 3rd and future 4th/5th generation is on the Horizon, when the bulk of houses will have FTTH 100MB/s : servers will be 100.000 x "more servery liak", no GCD look at Tera and see a glimpse of what the next MMO will look like Oops and GW2 ofc. |

When I quit WoW cause I couldn't take it anymore, I would always say, how can 10 million people like this game. Well, it wasn't because the game sucked that I quit, but rather the community. So, just like WoW is still a good game, SWTOR is as well, despite what we all think. Rift is another example of not knowing whats popular, cause I didn't care for it, but how many people are playing that one? 2-3 million? Currently Playing: LOTRO - SWTOR - PS2 - BF3 Waiting For: Camelot Unchained cause Mark Jacobs is a friggin genius. |

Well you covered chocolate and vanilla, why just a dichotomy? I mean I realize MMORPGs over all are young. What we're calling gen 2.5 will be apart of the alpha wave in the future I'm certain. But praising these games that just follow someone else's success is pointless. I'd play TOR if it were a buy to play game. Just because there is a a good Star Wars story to be told. 15 bucks a month for a mediocre MMORPG clone? That's too generous for a lack of innovation. I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. |

Three dimensional server RAM is coming along as well and it'll make all the MMO-action games that much sweeter because it offers a 100x upgrade. http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2011/12/ibm-racetrack/ IBM's the only one moving hardware configuration to make it at the moment. And it's all industry side and will be for awhile. But 12 channel chips and stacked memory will finally make servers that can do what we're wanting them to do. I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee. |
