Well I tried it out. I have 2 tier 7 tanks and 1 tier 6. I bought a preimum account as well. I don't own any "gold" tanks. This games match maker is obviously broken...that or it's by design that I get put in with tanks that I can't even scratch. I lose more than I win....as winning requires you to have good teams....and 9 times out of 10 teams are an epic fail. there is no way to organize and you can't have more than 3 people in a tank platoon(15 total on a team) so you can't even organize a winning team. Now let's move on to hacks and cheaters. yep this game has them aplenty . Then you have the wallet warriors to contend with...with them buying indestructible Type 59 Chines tanks. I can't believe I waited money on this game. I can not recommend this game to any one...unless you like losing all the time. I don't understand how this is fun??? |

I'd ahve to agree, I got my tier 10 Maus, and I hate higher tier battles, I'd rather play around in my loltraktor. Tier 1 battles are so much more even and alot more fun imho. My Maus just gets blown up by an spg anyways, moves so slow and it's huge, you could just blindly shoot at it and you hit 100% lol
Definitely wouldn't recommend spending money on anything, just stick with tier 1, maybe the M2 Medium tank or BT-2. Any higher than that, the teams become majorly lopsided...yeah I've been complaning about the match maker for a long time. At launch it actually worked really well, but they "updated" it and has be crud since :(

You say the game is filled with hackers and cheaters. So let's hear it: Which hacks/cheats have you encountered in game? Keep in mind, most stuff is handled server side, so a wallhack, for instance, isn't possible. Auto aim is already included in to the game, and it leaves you at a huge disadvantage compared to using manual aim (Since you have to take a few things into consideration when firing, such as: Speed of the enemy, angle of the enemy, possible weak spots etc. Auto aim aims for the center of the target, that's it). So I ask you again: Which hacks/cheats have you encountered in game? As for the Type 59, the only thing that needs to be adjusted is its match-making value - Currently, it will never meet tier 9 mediums. It got decent mobility, a pretty bad gun (around the same as the top gun on the T-44 - You know, the tank that gets a new, better gun next patch), and quite good armour, specially at the turret (But there's plenty of weak spots to hit). What makes it good is the wolfpack tactic, which have been around since beta. It used to be T-44s, then T-54s and now it's Type 59s. There's a counter tactic, though: Good defense. Whenever I see 3+ Type 59s on the enemy team, I always expect a rush. I've been playing since closed beta, although I haven't been playing much. 1300 battles after release, the most of them in the last couple of months. I've played mostly tier IV-VI (1000+ battles). I've never used premium tanks, gold ammo or gold consumeables. I do run with premium, though. Here's my stats: 56%/42%/2% W/L/D Survival ratio: 29% 1,59:1 Kill/death ratio Hit ratio: 67% As I said, I play mostly mid tier, so I have about equal chance of being in either the bottom or top 50%, although it's relatively rare I'm the topdog (and equally so, being at the absolute bottom). It's very rare I feel I can't help the team in any way - usually only happens when I'm in a tier 5 light tank, in a max tier match with no artillery, on a few select maps. WoT has a fairly steep learning curve. This is often misinterperted as "The other guy is cheating". Simply put, you need to be intimate with the game mechanics, the maps, common tactics and the different vehicles to do well. |

Originally posted by Wolfjunkie This has pretty much been my experience as well. Frankly, I've never been in a match where I thought someone was using a hack and I've never been in a match where someone was accused of hacking. I've got two T7s, a couple of T6s and a few other lower tier tanks. People always believe it's stacked against them, but I win a little over 50% of the matches, M4 (E2) is in the 60-65% range, actually (love that tank). There have been long, ugly stretches of losing and great stretches of winning. Matchmaking is not great, but it's not great for anyone, so the other team has the same disadvantage. But matchmaking is only 1 determiner of how a match will go. Skill is more important. I've been on teams that were clearly outmatched based on type of tanks but we won because the other team could barely aim their turrets. I like the game. I've been playing for about 3 months and I'm not trying to rush to tier 10. I'm enjoying the ride. "I am a WoW clone." Me |

I really enjoy the game. As far as a can tell the Machmaker is pretty good. Not perfect, but works. It puts a mix of tanks in most battles. From lowest to highest. This works out pretty well. Allows for scouts, different types of artillery. The only way that the matchmaker would be totally 'fari' is if it matched both sides one for one. Which wouldn't be much fun IMO. I can recommend it and do. Give it a try, its pretty fun. Not guaranteed to keep you busy hours on end, but do a few battles and play something else. I now have a Panther II, and working feaverishly for my E50. It's only a model |

I too been playing since closed beta, Sept 2010, I have over 7000 battles so far and I play causually. The biggest issue for this game is its Match Maker too many times has it failed one reason that the MM is tier base the MM does take into account type of Vehicle has nothing to do with population. WOT claims it's the lack of population, I have also try the EU and RU servers and the problems are there as-well having well over 40k + so its not the population that causing fail matches. if you check the forums many player list a snapshot to prove this failure. Second issue still is the spotting issues especially on 4 maps, the rest seems to work fine. New patch or update is coming out this week but I dont place any real hope in advancing the Game. It saddens me to think that a Russian company can be so bias in their development toward nations. I'm not going to get into with some players cause one to argue with a fanboy is a waste of time but for those that knows their ww2 history and development of sd AFV vehicles then you can clearly understand my point. It has some good elements in the game beautiful render tanks, some really nice maps how beit that some to me are just to small. I personally take issue with the intoductions of these speeder tanks for scouting and how the MM handles them many times you will find only 1 on 1 side or 2 or 3 on 1 side etc. To many arty play in some battles some as many as 14 arty pieces and WOT sees nothing wrong with this. If anyone wants to play you have to play a premium account to be able to get good credits and xp without it its a long and hard trek. With the up coming upgrade making credits from arty well be even harder to make. I encourage anyone reading always fiend for yourselves and read the forums. |

Fun game at first. However 14/15 matches the teams are total shit. It's not unusual to find yourself the bottom teir in a game 8-10 times in a row. When this happens you'll be cannon fodder for the other team with almost no value. Example I rolled behind a tiger and shot him in the rear armor (weak spot) 15-20 times and got him down to 65%. Of course this story ends with him one shotting me. (was a teamate and i was testing) WoT fans will tell you to either scout or outmanuver higher teir tanks. Outmanuver will work in some situations on solo tanks... but 19/20 your just going to get blasted by one of his teamates before you do any real damage. And scouting means get behind a forward rock and hold on to your ass as you pray your support is better than theirs or your a tasty little XP snack. Either way after 10 games you wonder why the hell am i playing this stupid unbalanced game because most matches the barrel on my tank is for looks only. If they would fix the Match Making this game would be fun. Fighting equal teirs or only allow 2 levels of teirs in a battle. This is why the type 59 is so good. It has one of the sweetest matchmaking preferences in the game. (pay to win!) |

find a tank line you are good with such as the new french lights (love my 13-90) I have been playing since may and never seen a hack and have up to IS3 now (hate heavy tanks but want free slot from is4) that said when I die its because A) I got in over my head and over extended B) I was focused on my target and not my surroundings and failed to fall back when I should have C) someone got a lucky shot at ammo rack and I insta died D) I just sucked or was impatient with moving.
I will readily admit Matchmaker isnt perfect and some matches are like WTF but I have never been completely useless.
If any fix was made to MM I would say drop it from 4 tier spread to 3 tiers max... that would help a lot. |

Originally posted by bestman22 I kind of laugh when people in game die 30 seconds into a match and then scream about the team sucking. I too notice that almost all of my deaths are from one of the four reasons you listed. Sure there are times when the team as a whole fails and you all die but it seems to me that way too many people blame the team when they die.
I too would like the tier spread to lessen a bit. |

I have been playing this on and off for a few months with friends and eventually grinded to high tier stuff. It's best not to think about it at high tiers and just play for the sake of it. As for losing money the reason this is in place is obviously incentive to get premium or just buy gold to get that next thing. For the matchmaker it tends to be a mix between luck and pool of players. At peak times you will get more varied games where you will find yourself at the top or lucky last. There are many times where games went terribly wrong due to matchmaker or the inevitable bad team but there are countless awesome times where you knew your actions were key to victory. I have an Is-3, t-43, jgdpanther and hummel. I prefer flanking manoeuvres rather than face to face combat. You really have to find the style of tank fighting that suits you and play to your strengths. One extremely important aspect of the game is knowing yourself and your enemy. Know which tanks you can kill (does this gun have enough penetration? can i shoot it from the side if not the front?), which tanks you'll need help killing and which tanks to avoid completely. Pick your battles well and the game will get a lot better. Of course I still have a BT-7 for the sake of charging in like a derranged hyperactive weasel and lighting up their team for our artillery while trying to cheat death for as long as possible. Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

I won't repeat what has been said already, other than to say, there are no hacks for WOT, and read the wiki before you play, instead of making shit up on the spur of the moment to cover for your lack of knowledge.
As for the premium tank cry, and "wallet warrior" name-calling, all premium tanks (purchased with gold) are inferior to an upgraded tank of the same tier and class, they get 50% more credits on the round, and that is their only advantage. Further, more often than not, premium tanks are owned by high tier players to help grind out credits to support higher tier play, players who already understand the game, and can get the best from the tank.
The T 95 (Chinese tank) became popular, as it was an efficient method for gaining credits. This was due to the fact at introduction its matchmaking had been fixed to facing a maximum of t8 battles, that has now changed, and the T59 will now face tanks up to and including T 10, where it won't last 5 minutes face to face with these higher tiers.

Originally posted by Tivian Tiers 6 and 7 are rough. The matchmaker is not your friend (probaby by design to encourage premium and gold purchases). If you slug it out to Tier 8 and get your tank of choice maxed out the games matchmaker improves a ton. I quickly found a fully researched T8 tank is more than a match for any of the gold tanks. I own both the Panther II and King Tiger and they decimate a Type59 or Lowe one on one. The gold tanks are nice to earn more money and XP if your willing to spend cash to convert it (again by design) but you will hate them once you start to drive fully researched T8 regular tanks. I agree they are pretty burtal to go up against in T6/7 tanks however. The only problem I have with Tier 8's and the reason I let my Primium expire is the 4-5 SPG's per side on every match. I have kind of a love hate thing going on with WOT's. On the one hand when you get in a good match it is a really fun game and the stuff on the cash shop isn't really Pay 2 Win like many games I have played. On the other hand the matchmaker can be brutal, SPG's are really out of control (or where a few months ago when I stopped playing) and even if you have a premium account ($15.00 a month) you will still be putting out money to convert XP from your elite tanks into usable XP for other tanks as well as the other things you can buy. It's a fun 10-15 dollar a month game, it just doesn't seem worth 30+ a month it would cost to really get the most out of it. |

I agree with your statements 100% Same things I found. I believe every single "design decision" in this game was 100% about pushing people to pay (to win). The "matchmaker" has been a thing of so much complaint for so long, I'm convinced it's working as intended - just another thing to "encourage" people to pay (to win). |
