So, I can take my level 7 LS and level 12 robes and and wear them at level 50 - in addition to all of the other orange items from 1-50

wel if you want want to wear a lvl 12 robe at 50 feel free, but I doubt if you will because it will not have as many modification  slots as the 40's gear. Mods only affect the stats of the gear, nothing visual. The higher level the gear the more slots it will have that you can drop mods into.  The mods themselves are  color coded  in the same way, purples are to dye for while greens are a dime a dozen. Even the crafting recipes are color coded and I love the game crafting system.

What the Dev in that post is referring to is the class of the gear, green being the lowest, then blue, then purple, and now orange. Green Blue Purple and orange is just the color of the name of the gear, not the gear itself. The mod system is a good system and one of the things I really like about the game but what I was referring to is the ability to change my armor's appearance from white with black trim to all black just as a example.

The gane has some realy good points, it is certainly not a Vanguard or a AoC. I just don't see it as a long term game as of now, maybe after a year but not as it stands.

Edit BTW a male Commando wearing pink armor..I can just see it now LOL

Aren't you describing what he's saying was the old system?

" in the old system, you could not take any piece of gear, fit it with the best mods and keep it all the way to the end levels: a lot of the green gear did not have all the slots, the mods that could be obtained were for the most part... not good, and you could not extract better one from existing gear. "

I am talking about the last build, otherwise wht would anyone bother trying to craft anything above the beginer recipes. You want to wear lvl 10 gear to 50 ten feel free but have your rez robot handy. And yes one of the changes they made was you can now pull your mods out for a small fee, but trust me you will outlevel them as wel as outlevel the base mods of the gear

Anyway ebnough of the red herring, all the armor looks the same was  the original point

Not trying to make an argument, just posting my initial feeling of what I am watching on the screen.

I dont get a sense of epicness when watching the Star Wars video. My breath is taken away when I watch the GW2 one though.

Don't need to download LOTRO I play it most weekends and having a few different max level toons (champion,RK,Minstrel,Captain) I can say that the armor models are not all that different looking.  Atleast not enough that I would disparage what I've seen from TOR.

Now let's also not forget that using your example I would be encountering people of every level from start to max as well as people who are using the appearance tab (which was one reason I disagreed with TOR not using a traditional appearance tab).

But I haven't seen all that much variety in LOTRO that I could say TOR is doing somethin wrong at this point.

really and how many dye colors are in LoTRO right now? How many cosmetic outfits can you wear that will affect only your appearance and not your armor stats. Compare that to SWTOR. How many different looking horses are there? Compare that to the variety of speeders in SWTOR

Like I said SWTOR has some great points, but character customization is not one of them

Wow. Griping about outfits. The game hasn't even been released yet. I'm sure this time next year there will be more flamboyant and pointless outfits than you can shake a stick at especially when they have already stated that an appearance tab was coming. Of all the things to gripe about, this has to be the lowest of importance to me.

did you ever stop and think that maybe whatever it is that you find important in a MMO might be of the lowest importance to me? Anyway reading comprehension for the win, it is not just the outfits the gripe was about the overall lack of character customization for  MMO releasing in this day and age. Bioware lack of experiance in MMOs really shows. Most of the people I play with want their characters to be unique as possible, if that is of no importance to you then thats your problem not mine. subscripton.

It is a good solid basic game, with fun gameplay  but in a lot of ways it reminds me of MMO's of ten years ago. I just don't see the point in buying it right now after betaing it for the last year. It is not just one thing that caused me to cancel my pre order, it is a combinatiojn of severl things. Maybe in a year when they have added and improved some things I will reconsider. I don't think they are going to miss me since I am estimating release to be at 1 million plus, maybe even two.

Neither would I but I don't see that as a bad thing. In fact I'm not sure if very many TOR fans see it as a great step forward or a revolution in MMOs, so much as those views being put on them by people who don't like TOR for what it is.

Over and over again I see so-called fanboys saying "I like it for what it is" while people tell them they're wrong for not disliking it for what it isn't.

Try reading the link a little slower :-) - All Orange gear is FULLY modable and has the SAME number of slots (4) - it is outside of the normal MMO color code scheme for power. IE orange is not between say blue and purple.

"So, yes, if you see a green armor you really like, you still can have that appearance until end level.  It does take a bit of work - you either need to become a crafter yourself, befriend one or trawl the GTN. "

The most important question is - who cares how "innovative" a game is if it's fun?

I think the problem is, it isn't either.

The most fun I had with the beta was uninstalling it. It is obvious that there is something wrong when 90% of all the MMO buddies you have played with over the past 15 years say "they are not buying it or are cancelling their pre-order". Again, many of my friends don't find WoW that enjoyable (for an extended period of time), yet it has a ridiculous amount of subs.

I guess, I don't feel this is a real gamer's game. It is a Bioware/SW fanboy game. I didn't have much fun playing it, but I am sure some people will. To each their own.

I can honestly say the two things I play these games for now is crafting and PvP.

A solid persistent PvP system in this game is sorely lacking. Unless you are fine with instanced PvP or open world PvP without objectives/rewards, I'd stick with another game. Ilum just resets at the end so I don't even consider that persistent. Unfortunate for me I guess! But I realize a lot of people just want Warzones so maybe they will be happy. Who knows.

As for crafting, there was a dev post today that clarified (or muddied depending on your POV) the current state of the "mod" system for armor (didn't say much about weapons). I can't say I'm super thrilled. It is a small step forward, but it seems way too convulated when there are easier solutions to the "lack of customizaiton" threads that have plagued the beta boards since I was let in.

Ah well. I'll wait and see what the verdict is a few months after launch.

Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.

You missed my edit I will post it again. My opinion is the only one that matters to whether I will buy this game or not. Your opinion has no value at all in that respect. In fact, those that feel the need to constantly defend whatever negative is posted says alot about the game and the defender.

So wait replying in general to something said is now defending a game? Is that the secret that everyone is missing? Just don't reply or offer another view towards a negative opinion?

There are negatives about this game that some of us will not overlook.

Enjoy your game, really, have fun. I chose to save my $60 for something better.

Do you get the sense that someone is trying to get you to sub to ToR so that they can play with... you?

You keep posting "I'm not playing ToR" and "This is nothing new so I'm not wasting $60". I have yet to see someone post:

"Please.. Rusty715.. reconsider! Please play ToR with us!"

Man you never stop do you? You ask for reasons I dont l ike the game, you get them and then spit out crap that only reinforces that you cannot stand anything negative posted about your game. I dont know how you got so self important but if you think everyone in life has to agree with you, you are in for a lot of disappointment. Now please, make some more childish personal attacks to make yourself feel clever.

I don't think so.  It's a lot better than Rift and that game didn't get ripped to shreds and it is a shallower copy of WOW.

Didn't you get the memo? Early Access and Beta mean the samething! See they both have "E" in them.  Oh and they both have an "A" in them. That means they are one in the same.

the story is nice, i'll give it that, but that's where it ends. the Graphics are not that great (unless they're holding off for release, which i doubt), every class is mirrored exactly on the other side, so if you play a Smuggler you've played an imperial Agent, with the exception of the wording of the story. the planets are lifeless, no moving grass, no flying insects, no animals just wandering around and the cities are dead, barely any NPC's in them or background chatter.

Space combat is a rail game, so unless you really enjoyed Asteroids as a kid, it'll be boring to you. PvP is umm...well, i'll let someone else explain how bad that is, my experience was only 3 mini-games reminiscent of the CoH/CoV system. then there's flashpoints, their version of group instances, when i first tested these these were Awesome! but then they started tweaking them and fiddling with them and reducing the lengths, and now they're just ok.

the Light Side/Dark Side point system sounded cool in the beginning, but it's now a useless addition, oh boy a few titles and some visual corruption if you're dark, at the higher levels you get some cool gear, but it's exactly the same gear weather your dark or light and just visually looks different.

I won't even mention how you can't change sides, so if you go dark Jedi, you can not move to  the empire. a Smugular is stuck with the Republic, while Bounty Hunters are stuck with the Empire. there really needed to be a third faction of Neutral. I could go on about the negatives of this game, but i think you get the picture.

all in all, the game is a Step back in MMO's, it's taken all the features of other games and reduced them to as simple a state as possible, there's nothing new, innovative or exciting about the game, except that it's Star Wars of the past (but unlike STO, they at least did stay true to the Universe)

In reality, if they took this game, rebundled it as KOTOR3 and sold it as a standalone it'd be far better, i'd hype this game s a 4, and that's just for the Name Recognition alone.

Oh and here we are less than 3 weeks from launch (dec 20th) and not a single advertisement for the game anywhere. you'd think for an Xmas launch you'd see something on TV!

Pretty much all developers do these days.  Copy, paste, wait for a check.  The genre is dead as far as I'm concerned.  Luckily the RPG genre is doing quite well :)
