I do not think they're going to have more than two factions in the game. They've been working on the game for 5 years or so...if they were going to have more than 2 main factions, they would have designed it in 5 years ago. In TSW, there are three factions who are working against each other in PvP, but who are able to allie with each other in PvE content. You won't have a mixed faction guild or anything like that though. They could maybe do something similar, where there is another NPC faction on that world, and you can allie with certain sub-factions with the opposing faction to get rid of the NPC faction or PvE content. Then which ever faction has the most people in the group proceeds to kill their former group mates. :-) Join the League For Gamers. |

The whole faction discussion isn't even worth it. Vigil stated there will be 2 factions and that's the way it will sadly go. There was an outpouring of requests for 3 factions to the company when this info first came out (over a year ago now). Unfortunately they ignored said feedback and are continuing with 2 factions. A year ago was three or four years into development. It was too late. In all honestly, it was too late as soon as they set the design though. The game is going to cost $50 Million as is. Adding a third faction would have pushed the cost up even higher. They could still do something interesting with sub-factions though. Join the League For Gamers. |

People are also forgetting that it is the will of GW. What people don't realize is that GW has to approve every design decision that gets made. It was the same with WAR, the Ultramarines movie, Dawn of War, and even Shadow of the Horned Rat (taking it back oldschool). So go complain to Matthew Ward, it was probably his fault. |

My big hope for Warhammer40K is that they don't do a' WoW with different skins' approach. I think most people would want a change. If Warhammer40k could be made to feel somehow scary, that would be good. My last memory of WoW was slaying yet another field of bots. |

My biggest wish/hope is that they dont water down the 40k universe for these snot nosed kids. It is not a childs game. Slaanesh should be twisted in all the carnal pleasures there are. Nurgle should be rotten, Khorne should be blood lust and blood crazed. People should die in graphic and violent ways. None of these kids deaths with no blood, no guts, and censored content, so you can sell more copies to moms and dads who dont know what little timmy is playing. So much crap, so little quality. |

Originally posted by Hodo It's a pity the ratings system don't allow for toggles. A "blood, gore, sex and candy" toggle would fix it all. :(
With that said, I disagree. Generally, proper gore requires either an explosion of blood or bodies made in "pieces." Shoot off a piece, and it comes off the same way every time. Anything more requires far too much programming time, and I'd choose solid gameplay over fancy graphics any day. The trailer shows that there will be blood in the game, and that's enough for me. Having a dark, sinister world doesn't require extreme amounts of blood and gore; just extreme violence and hate. After all, people don't die brutally unless they are killed brutally; anything else and it's just over the top. I am hoping for some sync kills like in the DoW games though. Seeing a helpless widdle Space Marine sliding down the sword of an avatar of Khaine would just tickle me to a happy death, especially if it were a player controlled Space Marine. >:) Sarcasm is not a crime! |

IMO this is the only way the game will really work. Start with just a few of the races/factions (Marines, Chaos, and Orks for example) then add in more with later expansions. It may make for a slightly slower start as some people may wait for "their" race, but this would open the door for continued growth. |

The declaration for a faction is a brilliant idea. Standard get-go marines are Templars, but the declaration can turn them into a different chapter. Love the idea. Needing is Wanting... |

To balance out orcs and other races who says you only have to play a single character. Simple solution: rather then control an orc, control a squad of 8 of them as a single unit. An 8 player group of orcs then is in reality 64 orcs. |

Really? Even though no MMO can host 9-10 warring factions, it would be great to see the races broken out into more than just two sides to fight it out. MMO's can't host that many warring factions? It has nothing to do with can't, and everything to do with don't. Honestly, it would be epically awesome if this happened. Let the players establish the truces and alliances in the game, don't force us down a certain path. Just because your view of MMO's and PvP is short sighted, doesn't mean it can't be done. The main reason it isn't done, is becuase the average gamer is retarded. Games have become so dumbed down, and if everything isn't just handed to them on a silver platter, it "sucks". The first thing to decide is if they are going to make a gamer's game, or a casual game that 6 year olds can play. I am hoping for the former. |

Well I have to say.. Really I hope this game plays more like Planetside did than a regular MMO. However Planetside with mobs in it with advanced AI. Or maybe a hybrid system like Tabula Rasa had. I want skills to still matter.. If they are going to allow people to play things like the Imperial guard as guards men. They really need to make that a pet class. Kinda like The Necromancer from Age of Conan, Where as you level you get more Grunts in your Squad (IE your pets) because a Space Marine can stand toe to toe with 10 guardsmen and live. THis would make it more lore like and immersive, As for guilds in this game. I say get rid of them. Base the game off the lore. Sure allow people to have friends lists and groups for chat etc etc. However if your going to play as a Dark Angel. Then that is the chapter your character (space marine) is affiliated. Your missions will come from them. Make it where you can move up in the Chapter rank etc. Kinda like in elder scroll. As you advance You might get Chapter Influence. Which you can spend on Wargear. Speaking on Spending I dont want to see credits. or money Keep it as an influence system Something along the lines of. Your an Ultra Marine. Anytime you die. You Respawn with a Suit Of Power Armor, and a Bolt Gun and bolt pistol as these are basic issue. You want a heavy bolter sure thing, go to the Ultramarine Armory and use (spend) your influence to purchase one. However when you die you respawn with your Suit of Power Armor and bolt gun. No heavy bolter.. If you have the influence you can always purchase another one. This means your not running around with bags and bags of stupid stuff like in most other MMOs. As its not nessessary in 40K Put in ways to unlock certain weapons at the armory also, or certain relics... IE during one of your missions you found a Relic Thunder Hammer that has certain bonuses on it. Now anytime you go to upgrade from your Basic Issue that Relic Thunder Hammer is available to you (by using your influence of coarse) As for Factions. Im really of mixed opinions on how they will be able to do this successfully. I am in agreement that a 2 way faction War is the WRONG way to do it though. I guess if I had to choose a 4 way faction war it would be ok Space Marines with Imperial Guard Eldar alone Chaos SM with Chaos Cultists (I dont see Deamons as a playable faction) Space Orkz |

I think every race should be separate, with the ability to team up with other races if desired. So much of Warhammer is the politics. The Chaos wanting something, corrupting the Orks to help them out, Marines get pissed at Orks, they encroach on Eldar plans, then they get pissed off and join one side or the other. It could just go on an on, with all these factions warring against or allying with eachother when the time comes.
A 2 sided system is a terrible idea, enough said about that. 3 sided would be better, but still not really fit the IP very well. Races acting independently sounds better to me. This could be taken farther with it being guilds and alliances at war with eachother, not just "this race is fighting this race", look at games like EVE online for example, there is so much politics and stuff going on in that game, and it is ALL player run. I just don't want to see 1000 year old grudges between the High Elves and Dwarves thrown out the window "to make the game have 2 factions" like what happened with WAR.
Make it epic, make it realistic, leave the dynamics up to the players, and I think you will be heading in the right direction. I also really like the ideas of a skill based system than leveling. No clue what they are doing with that, but I can't wait to hear more :) |

i agreed with the most of the people. They have to make more "sides" than two... Actually 4 side is enought + 1 npc faction. playable: Chaos,Imperium,Eldar,Ork Npc: necron |

Yeah it's been scrapped. It's being changed into a Single Player FPS-RPG. So on the good side at least it can't be massively dissapointing. There's still hope they'll make something better down the line. |
