http://www.lineage2.com/news/development.html Thats tha fact! Lineage2 free to play... for me It was a years ago dream, now I'm glad to become part of the new crowd that in less than a week will start together on the new servers (EU for me). Let's go every one to give it his last whit a great one. It would be the big endding for the Lineage2 or a great fail.... the only way to now seems to be playing in, so... then we judge.
See you in Talking Island.... |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

It will be f2p after the maintenance but without the new update and without new servers. I still suggest to wait till the 30th for the fresh servers and the huge update.

Ahh, scantily clad dark elves and jiggly bits.
About all I remember of this game. Too distracted by the jiggly bits to take it seriously. Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them. |

I was reading how it's 'truly free' with no restrictions, yadda, yadda...
But how are they going to make money? Also is Lineage II a sandbox MMO or a themepark mmo? Waiting on: Guild Wars 2 |

MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

Originally posted by Lashley Truly free is indeed 100% free, with cash shop for fluff items and things like XP boosters, potions and stuff like that. Lets hope those overpowered items (non-failing enchantscrolls for instance) won't be included at NCWest... Sandbox..? Yes and no... It's not a 100% themepark like WoW is. L2 is NOT quest driven (at the moment - GoD will make it more quest driven, but still not overly as most other theme-parks). What makes L2 a sandbox is the PvP system that's linked with the server/player politics, much like EVE uses at 0.5 and lower security sectors. The crown of L2 PvP are territory wars, sieges and clan wars. Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

The great thing about this F2P model is that L2 has had monthly fees AND has always been Pay2win. I left because you almost NEEDED to subscribe two accounts to play and I wasn't going to pay $30 a month just so I could buff myself anytime I wished. Now NCSoft will take a page of a book left from the private server community. This is going to be big since the private server community of Lineage 2 is huge and all have been waiting for this day. |

The most amazing features L2 had (or maybe still have) is the same reasons that make the game a paradise for bots and RMT. - there is no soulbond, and i love it. I can use a armor set, then send to other char, help a friend (real life one) or sell it to other players to make adenas and buy the next best armor. This create a amazing economy inside server but gives alot of importance to RMT. Some players just dont have the patiente to farm adenas or play with the economy, buy it on e-bay its easier... - The Pve of L2 is all about farming. Normal mobs, special mobs, boss's, etc. You need that for leveling, get mats for crafting, adenas, etc, etc. And i really love the farming system of this 7 years old game, solo, duo or group. And who is the king of farming? Bots, ofc. The job of devs are not easy here. Some devs make gear and weapons soulbound in there games to reduce the RMT, then make the leveling progress faster and make almost everthing easier to get reducing the existence of Bots. After been away during 4 years from L2 (left cause of bots ruined my gameplay) i back 1 month ago and dont see bots around, leveling progress is amazing fast and they say in GoD will be faster even. Read somewhere about soulbond itens??
Im worried about GoD... |
