I love the dungeons in Skyrim there so much better then Oblivion.

Here are a couple of new screenshots - this games scenery is like looking into painting by Larry Elmore(go look at some of his Dragonlance art) that has come to life.  :) 

How I wish I could play the games at max settings (or at least high or med-high settings). My Skyrim looks like Oblivion right now. :(

Later on, I came across a very small bandit camp, around 3 of them or so, Obviously I attacked, 2 melee and 1 ranged, killed the 2 melee first then went to chase the ranged bandit into the woods, when I came back to camp I found these 2 bandits laying like this (so no it was not staged by me before I took the pic xD)

I tried higher settings, but it was quite a bit laggier. There are two versions of tweaks that are graphically "above" the version I use, for skyrimpref.ini and skyrim.ini. One version is for Geforce GTX 250 SLI cards...way above mine. The one below that, is to be honest not noticably different than the one I use. Some aspects are maybe better/worse, and I did take options from the second "best" and used them for the version I use. Whatever the second best version does, my PC can't really handle it. One thing I like about the version I use, is the shadows on trees are less black and a bit more blurry...which the other version that isn't the case. I personally don't tend to like really sharp shadows on trees. The version I use is great, and no apparent lag or freezes...and still looks very nice.

So, when I look at the screenshots...I personally like the darker tones that I've done with the FXAA mod. The first comparisons seem to bright for me. Maybe a bit too much color as well. However, the settings with the FXAA mod need more tweaking...seem a bit too black/white. But I'm aiming for a more realistic approach, and not a look that makes me think I'm playing a cartoon game that comes with most FXAA versions. I do like the look of vanilla Skyrim, but trying to get it more realistic. Or maybe just give a darker feel...whichever one.

So having said that...enjoy the scenery :)

All I did was lower gamma (very slightly) and greatly decreased the sharpen. I Iowered the brightness from half/default (the in-game brightness setting), down 4-5 notches as it was too bright otherwise.

And if anyone really wants to get serious about getting a good looking Skyrim (if your PC can handle it)

Should be able to get some amazing screenshots from those settings in that thread :) And people always discuss/talk about various settings throughout the pages.

I was on my way back to Whiterun, running through the snowy forest just north of it when I had an encounter with a snow bear.   It did not end well...

for me.   It came out from behind the rock, stood on it's hunches, grawled as it raised its huge paws...then proceeded to turn my character into shreded Breton.   :(  

This is the one thing that sets this game apart from so many others is the dynamic encounters.  Some happen so fast you don't have time to react - at all - a creature can be on you in a second.   Just like this bear encounter.  On top of that, when a fricking bear hits your character it can stun you so bad allowing for the bear to get a couple of more attacks in.   Reminds me of playing a pen and paper RPG.   Love this game!

This is an absolute master piece of a game for many reasons.

i'm probably the only one, but I never fast travel, and when I'm on foot I walk everywhere, only turning on run when I enter a battle.  Almost never sprint, except for those stupid archer types that like to flee when low on hp on hardest difficulty hehe.

This game is probably the best looking game ever.  I have all settings on maximum on my desktop, which has a new GTX 580 I got from a contest :D

I spend hours just walking around town, smithing, enchanting.  Really getting immersed in the world.  It's really all the little things this game does that makes it so great.  Things you really won't ever notice unless you slow down and just take a stroll.  NPCs have thier own lives, they go to work and home at certain times.  They go to the local inn to have a drink somedays.  Splashes from running through water (first game I've seen with such realistic water effects).  Weather so realistic, I get cold when walking around High Hrothgar, and I swear the humidity in my house goes to 100% when it rains (I guess in Texas it's 100% humidity most of the time anyways lol).  I can spend over an hour walking to the next town (well I used to, I bought my own horse), just staring at the distant mountainside, or watching wildlife run then a pack of wolves come and kill them, then turn to me!  Mercenaries traveling on the way to thier contracts.  Hunters setting up camp. The leaves move in the breeze.  Water current pushes you when you swim.  I could go on til the character limit for a post, but i'll stop now. 

The Legend of Zelda used to be my favorite game of all time, but once the "new" feeling wears off (it may never), Skyrim might take that place, easily in my top 10, probably top 5.  Time will tell.

If you don't have this game, it's a must have, I can tell you that!

I never use fast travel either. Ye the game is beautiful, and not because the graphics a great but because the scenery is really nice, they are a lot of mountains to watch the views, and most important it is as interesting as it is beautiful, which is pretty rare in our computer games today.

By the way, have you figured out how to take a screenshot from afar? I have read some things on the blog, but I haven't tried them yet (besides my Skyrim right now looks like Oblivion coz my PC aint that good):

As requested, I’m just going to run through a few of the console commands I’ve been using. ‘tfc‘: short for Toggle Free Camera, unlocks the camera from your player and works in first- and thirdperson. ‘tfc 1‘: toggles the free camera but also freezes the action. ‘fov [value]‘: adjusts the game’s field of view. ‘sgtm [value]‘: adjust the game’s global time modifier for slow-motion, etc. ‘help [search string] 0‘: finds console commands and item IDs matching the search criteria. ‘player.placeatme [item ID] [quantity]‘: spawns the specified object or NPC at your location. ‘tai‘: click on a creature or NPC and then use this to disable its AI, freezing its pose. ‘tcl‘: toggles the game’s clipping, letting you reach unreachable places.
