MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

Think my hands will go in pain using that Cyborg thing. Not to mention, my hands lack AT LEAST 5 fingers to use if efficiently :D
Gaming mice are overrated IMO. I never had one until recently (Logitech MX518). Before I always used trackballs and loved them! Too bad my last one broke down earlier this year and a replacement was more expansive than the MX518 I have now... BTW, ppl in Lineage II still wonder how I could PvP so well with this trackball :D Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

That is simply a bit too much in my nerd scale. I will remain a medium nerd. |

Well tbh they should not ban hardware . But they should ban anyone using macro's in pvp . If you need macro's to pvp your either uselss lazy or a cheat and should lose your account for it . |

I'm using an Ergodex DX-1 and a Logitech G-13 for years for all kind of games and productivity software, so I couldn't care less, if other people use the same things. Seeing that SWTOR promotes the hardware from Razor tailored for SWTOR I don't think that Bioware has anything against these. |

I assume you already took into account that it does share GCD? |

I... i don't get it. |

That said, they should just make it a free autoattack. I don't like having to have my free attack taking up one of my number keys. |

Originally posted by timtrack From what I understood, the screen underneath the keys is a touch/gesture pad. You'd use it to perform your mouse functions. I'm with ya, though. A mouse will probably always feel better to me, and so, I'd have been more open to a Zboard-esque control addon with the button icons. Unfortunately, even that wouldn't do me much good as I'll be alt-ing constantly. Cool looking KB, though. |

I'd love to drive or fly something that looks like that.
On the gamepad subject: I keep meaning to get one as I have never been a big fan of the WASD keys and typically used the number pad for directional instead. Imagine PvPing with one hand on the number pad the other on the mouse and still having to hit the 1-0, ctrl/#, and alt/# keys to activate your attacks. After a full day in the old AV my shoulders would be hurting from all the contortions that my arms had gone though. |

Because in a month, you may be back whining about how EASY this game is, how you can do this in your sleep, and how terrible the combat mechanics are. Maybe not, but the possibility is there. - Al Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. |

Tbh, I can't imagine gaming without it now. As far as MMO's go, you can actually tell (at least in pvp) who uses something like this and who does not. Get one nao! |

Originally posted by AlBQuirky Except none of that is true, so probably not. Anyway, I figured it would take me some time to get used to the no-auto attack feature, but honestly, I had no issues with it. Did a bit too much action bar gawking in the beginning, but that was only due to me not being familiar with my abilities. After a few levels and some combat, you'll get used to your abilities so you'll have an internal timer going on in your head and intiuitively know when your cooldowns are up. As has been mentioned by a poster above, the auto attack is almost like a passive ability in other games---it just happens, and you have no control over it. It's nothing more than a gap filler during the global cooldown. You aren't pressing any buttons to activate it, just like you aren't pressing any buttons here during the GCD. The only difference in SWTOR is that that gap is being filled by the actual animation itself, as SWTOR animations are more in depth and longer than animations in other games. In WoW, if you press the "Sword Slash" ability (generic example), your toon takes a single swing at the target. In SWTOR, using the "Lightsaber Slash" (again, fictional example), your toon swings forward, then maybe spins around and does a backward thrust as well---all in the same ability, and all while the GCD ticks down. Technically, nothing changes from the WoW version, you aren't any less active during the GCD because the auto attack isn't actually something you have control of. You aren't losing DPS because you can't lose something that doesn't exist. That extra auto attack "dps" doesn't exist for anyone, therefore you aren't losing it by not having it. The only difference that I noticed is that, due to the animations, the combat looked a lot more fluid and well...like combat...in SWTOR. As noted, the basic attack feature resets the GCD on all attacks, so you'd never use that as a gap filler for that split second (if that) that you may need during the wind down of the GCD. Honestly, the only thing I used the basic attack for was when my other abilities were on regular cooldown, which becomes pretty rare by the time you get to the teens in level because SWTOR front loads your abilities earlier in the game to make your toon feel "epic" sooner. TL ; DR: I had reservations about the no auto attack feature at first, but after some hands on with the combat, it's much ado about nothing. |

I've been using (and singing the praises of) the Belkin Speedpad since I got one for WoW about 5 years ago. Now, one of the first things I do when I get a new game is set up the Speedpad. My left hand instinctively goes to it everytime I sit down at my desk, even if I'm not going to play a game. I have set up a few macros for it and they work pretty well. Because it also records time in between button presses, you could theoretically set it up to go through a whole skill rotation with the press of a single key. I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil |
