Originally posted by Antarious Remember though, SW:TOR is not your typical "read a wall of text" MMO... you don't read the stories. You experience them via voice-over cinematics. I'm not sure if it's even possible to turn those off (not sure how that would be possible?)
As for philisophically dropping the NDA, obviously two sides to that coin... if you drop it, tons of people are going to "give things away" and that can be a good thing or bad thing... if the game is in great shape, it's a good thing and leads to viral marketing... if the game is in bad shape, people may never even give it a shot once it launches. I hope they DO drop the NDA soon, because it'll signal to me that the game is something they're proud of! |

I purposefully stopped playing the JK/JC world after like the first 3-4 quests. Didn't want to ruin the story! A specifc NDA lift that cover mechanics/game play but keeps the story under NDA would be win/win IMO. MMO History: |

We've seen companies hide behind their NDA on numerous occasions to hide crappy games. I don't think BW is doing this, I think they are working to protect their story line and their code from the parsing sites that are just itching to start posting item attributes and walkthroughs. I could be wrong though... |

As much as the NDA dropping would make it so I could come on here to cast aside some of the BS thats been spewed about the game, I don t really care anymore to. I m playing it, along with my wife and quite a few rl friends, so why waste my time with people I don t want to be playing with anyways. Their loss is my big gain. |

Its the first time I've seen moderators lock many of the positive threads just so they can see the critical feedback easier, and direct most of the comments to those areas instead of what people think doesn't need fixing. |

Yup great idea! p.s. Personally not playing the beta to prevent spoilers, play some Skyrim and have a minimum of free time left for real life oblimagashuns. |

lol yeah, sorry about that. The day after the weekend on the beta forums was pretty funny though. You'd think you accidentally wandered in to an AA forum or somethin. |

I agree with some of the posts here about the NDA protecting people from spoilers. In beta I've only played classes that I don't intend to play on initial release for that very reason. My guess is that the NDA will drop with or soon after the upcoming stress test, and as far as I'm concerned, that's soon enough. They've already dropped it for the professional review sites, which tells us that the NDA is not in place just to hide bad aspects of the game. |

If you could actually enforce that, it would work. I don't think you could stop the torrent of information once it started. Join the League For Gamers. |

In a way I think they are wise to keep the NDA in effect so many games are killed off in these forums before release . People will Troll any new game to protect Warcraft even without playing it. |

No, I won't be playing in the next beta, I find they generally ruin my overall playing experience as I find myself redoing content once the game goes live and I get bored too quickly. (would especially be true in a story driven MMO unless I chose a different path) I agree, bring the NDA down, I want to read about the game, will avoid reading too much about the story, and hope they see some reason in the near future. I played last weekend and indeed will play again. I wish I could say why I will play yet again, but due to NDA I am not at liberty to discuss with any of you any point of the game besides fact that I was in a weekend beta. Sucks :( |

We can pretend the NDA dropped, ya ne? {mod edit} Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Absolutely, without a doubt will be playing again next weekend if time allows. The only real obstacle is that I have just taken on a 2nd job and it will be taking more of my free time! Ugh. I started with being skeptical but willing to try to being 100% sold on this title. I'm not only going to be playing next weekend as much as I can, but have convinced my wife to sign up too, and am going to buy it asap! woot! |

I have a wandering mind, but that's ok, it brings back presents. |

Believe it or not, they really are testing the game. I know a lot of companies have done "beta tests" that were really just a pre-release marketing scam. You can identify those by the fact that nothing changes between the "beta" and "release" along with a non-existent or otherwise useless bug reporting mechanism. {mod edit}

I think I'd rather enjoy the game without spoilers than the flood of argument that's guaranteed to peak after the NDA comes down. |

I don't see the good overall benefit for Bioware to lift the NDA before launch. I don't see hundreds of thousands of sales being created by lifting the NDA. I do see the haters using the information to nitpick thinking their opinions matter. |

At this point I don't think they should be afraid of bad publicity from the test groups. In fact I feel it would be in their interest at this point to drop the NDA. A lot of people who have not tested are skeptical, that there are reasons that Bio-Ware is being so secretive. The only reason is if they are considering pushing back release, but I don't feel that is necessary at this point either. Its looking to be as smooth a release as there is in MMO-land |
