yes i agree with all this i do not think the mmo worlld has went in the right direction since UO just become crap and filled with lots of crying about things that have little meaning i rember when daggerfall came out and i was going man why no coop damn be sweet with even coop now skyrim evolved and what if yuo could bring a friend to run around and dstroy the world be sweet money and time they dont want to put the big money into a mmo i think!

Why does everything have to be multiplayer? Why can't this game keep alive the age old tradition of long term CRPG's? Some dev's think everything that has the MMO label in front of an RPG will make it a great game. I have played numerous failed MMORPG's that would have been great if they started out as single player games. 1) Chronicles of Spellborn 2) Tabula Rasa 3) Vanguard If any of these games started out single player, got people interested in the lore and mechanics it gives studios a chance to try different things. It is also a heck of a lot cheaper to make a single player game. That is part of the formula that has made WoW and Final Fantasy so popular. Why is Skyrim so good at what it does? Because Bethesda has had 4 previous generations to learn from, make mistakes, change and add things that players have vocalized what they want. The main way they vocalized it is in the way of mods. If you added in this wondrous multiplayer facet, then you might have to do away with the creativity and the freedom of a SDKit. And I give that a BIG NO! The modding community is and will always will be the reason why The Elder Scrolls series has so much long term replayability. In short, keep you MMO'ness, gimme my mods and have a good time playing Skyrim for what it is, a great single-player game. |

Todd Howard is very smart to not want to do a ES MMO. I agree with whoever that said if it were 2 up to maybe 4 player coop and thats it, then it would be great (probably better than an MMO). Point is yes, MMOs should have such amazing features and experiances like you have in Skyrim. |

Yes and no. I think I would love those features in a MMO. BUT: Please for the sake of the Eight Divines I hope Elder Scrolls will ALWAYS remain to be a single player series! Leave me this one place when *I* alone am the hero, where I alone make the world history! I don't want to share Tamriel with 1000s of others. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

One of the biggest problems with MMOs period is the community. You do have some good players, but the bad ones really take away from the experience of the game. MMO players can be very impatient, very elitist, and/or just complain all the time about the smallest things. Add that to Skyrim and you've trashed the experience of the game. Good job Bethesda for not going the MMO route. I can get into the game and not have to deal with the baggage of little kiddies to include adults who act that way. |

Originally posted by Realbigdeal No and no. First off MO developers are clueless...no 3rd person view. Sorry, Kristi doesn't play that, they lost me right there. As for DF. To many arsehats playing that game and the leveling system is borked to hell. To many cheats...and it is full on FFA PVP. Dumbest thing ever. I love PvP, but not like it is dished out in gmes like that. So no I'll not waste a dime on a game like DF or MO and I seriously doubt the majority of players ever would. As long as games like that insist on FFA PVP they will never garner huge amounts of players. Oh and that is exactly why Skyrim nr TES should ever be an MMORPG. Co-op yes, MMORPG no. ![]() |

Amen. It has been slow torture to play the game on a PC with the crappy UI.

Originally posted by Realbigdeal NOPE and...NOPE. I played both games for about a month and while DFO has come a long way, MO is still a laggy bugfest that is a haven for griefers. Griefing in any capacity is not the type of game I like to play. FFA Loot brings out the worst in people and you can see it even in the forums. Not interested in going back to either. I'll just have to settle with this single player game called Skyrim. |

You could argue that you can still play whatever you want in Darkfall but that doesn't sound fun to me - chasing someone with my dual swords only while they throw all manner of spells and shoot arrows at me and heal their self while kiting me across the continent while I try to resist the urge to do the same to stay within my role as a dual wielding warrior... Can you even be a dual wielding warrior? heh |

I would think for the TES to be made into an MMO the world would have to be a lot bigger. I think new MMORPGs should really take a good look at the TES series of game as there is so much they could learn from them.. As for the interface issues.. its not the best but it works and you soon get used to it.. i dont even think about it now i just hit a series of keys and am im where i want to be..
As for the Darkfall and MO debate... I currently sub to Darkfall so you can guess what one i think is the best :).. but i would say MO is the closest to TES its just a bit slower a full of stupid bugs and missing features.. a big waste of the unreal engine.. |

Originally posted by Plasmicredx 2Plamsicredx: No, I played it for a few months on and off and didn't like it. I didn't like the fact that it was a heavy system hog that reminded me of morrowind level graphics. I didn't like the fact that most of the server was using scripts and bots to level up and also the lack of no central and safe way to trade, meaning to no auction market. If they were going to make a PvE ruleset server I would end up doing exactly what I was doing before, going to areas and grinding on mobs for skills. But back onto Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls series, it really is the lore that keeps the community interested. There was no real lore in darkfall. Correction: There is, but no where close to TES. |

Well, I started playing it so I have an opinion now. As an MMO, this would still suffer from the same "rinse and repeat" game play. The same zoned content problems. The same separation of players by "level gap". It would be far better as a Multiplayer game, and just forget the Massively. It does have a lot of very good things about it that MMOs should take note of. Mainly in the atmosphere department. It rocks. I mean, come on, seeing your skills and levels in the stars? Great stuff. The art and music only add to it. The backdrop story seems to be deep and worthy of an MMO Sandbox world. The ideas like having NPCs react to the player, conversations meaning something in this regard, that's good stuff too. As others have said, the UI is a bit clunky. I think it would be more so in an MMO. In particular, you can't stop game play in an MMO to change arms, etc. But it's still ok/good for a Single Player game. Once upon a time.... |

simple make it so everyone is happy like two worlds solo campaign and optional online with a few friends and as a seperate experience all together where your charactor starts from scratch and some options like owning a house or business is something you dick around with at the main menu to help you out with cash and crap the best part is its optional if you like solo or have no friends that play then dont play online, and its a campaign so no pvp just explore the world with friends and have fun |
