Originally posted by lizardbones Bioware has never made a sandbox style game, haha. Personally I'm sick of rollercoasters, but after this weekends beta I won't be purchasing SWTOR anyways. Originally posted by KanoRain Yes and skyrim is made by Bethesda not Bioware. Bioware isn't known for making sandbox RPGs they are known for making storyline centric RPGs. Hurr... you're argument makes no sense. |

Originally posted by KanoRain Nice job. You just compared a single player rpg to an mmorpg. If Bethesda made an mmorpg and made it about the story, guess what? It would no longer be a sandbox. So your point is invalid. |

Originally posted by k11keeper This has nothing to do with creator. Simply the fact that that you believe you can't have a storyline in a sandbox. Story line =/= scripted quest line like Bioware games. If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

Originally posted by Zenjinx No he is right. The voice is that we rather not have the sandbox most people are wanting. Lets face it, people crying sandbox tend to want a game where they can amass power and pretty much take everything over. They don't want a fair experience, they like a sandbox like eve were the few have strength over them any due to the length of time they spent, making the few have very little chance to actually 'compete' with them. |

Some people want more features, while people like yourself are ok with the status quo. That is good for you, but some of us find the same old same old, quite boring. |

Originally posted by KanoRain Sandbox content is created by the players. It's open-ended and the players are given the tools to create their own content. Quests + storyline, all of which Skyrim has, are themepark characteristics. It's not that difficult to understand. If you wanted Bethesda to make a game that was more open-ended like Skyrim, but still contained a questline and a central story, then it would no longer be a true sandbox due to the developer created content. It would be more of a hybrid. I'd be perfectly fine with that myself, as that would be a cool game, but I'd never want a complete sandbox title, because the majority of MMO players are....to put it bluntly, idiots, and I wouldn't want them responsible for my content. I'd rather leave that in the hands of an expert. |

Why would you have gone into the beta expecting anything other than a theme park? Seriously. There is nothing at all that would indicate SW:ToR is going to be anything other than a theme park. If you decided that they were making a sandbox without actually looking at the game, and then were disappointed, you really only have yourself to blame. This goes for all the people who said and did the exact same thing with Rift. Ditto for the people who are going to do the same thing with Guild Wars 2 and The Secret World. Originally posted by k11keeper The problem is that many of us have played Bioware games and aren't amazed by their stories...some good games, but nothing amazing about the narrative. What they do is give you the choice of letting your character be a saint or a complete d!ck. Having that choice in a somewhat satisfying story is not amazing. However, I'm in complete agreement that I would never look to Bioware to do anything outside of what they've been doing. It's like Blockbuster video rental stores--biggest chain of stores of that kind...why would they change the way they do business just because this internet thing exists?...oh wait. |
