If you wanted to say 'Oh, the character customization lets you play as Bieber', then yes.  Yes, I would accept that as correct.  They do, in fact, seem to be perfectly happy to accomodate hardcore Bieber fans.

There's a difference between 'Everybody looks like Bieber' and 'one person out of a whole video that shows at least 8 other distinct looks'.  :)

I know you're trying to get Guild Wars 2 fans to angrily shake their fists at you, but it just makes it look like you have a Bieber fixation where all you could see in the video was one guy.  :(

I am actually a bit dissapointed because there is no fat bodytype...

My human character should have atleast a beerbelly and preferably look like friar tuck from the old Robin hood movies.

Definitely buying this game after watching 1:22 - 1:58 of the character creation video.

Nice. While ANET policy of "no uglies" is somewhat weird it seems like there at least will be plenty of ways to look a bit different from the rest.

Soon MMOs will look so good that we wont need the name glowing over the character, we can recognize our friends by look instead. :)

I can understand the sentiment of some posters. It's all so sit-commy picture-perfect. I guess that is the downside of hugely realistic face generation. It becomes very glossy if you don't add the little imperfections.

I saw a slightly older dude in there but I sure hope that isn't the end of the age slider.

When did ArenaNet say those were all the options we were gonna get? They didn't and they've said that they'll keep adding more. Those were the only options they were happy with (after the recent touch-ups), at the time of making the video and I wouldn't be surprised if they added some old decrepit facial options by the time the game is release. Heck, they're already those options for the other races.

The train I catch to work daily is full of people with seriously 'gritty imperfections' - like hell I want that in my home too!

That being said I agree with what you're saying, a bit of grit is good but tbh I wouldn't miss it if it was absent.

I wouldn't mind that myself, but it is just a game and most MMOs sadly don't allow old looking characters (which is odd since real wizards should have a beard and wizened look).

This is still one of the best character creation systems I seen, lets hope they add more options to it later.

I don't think anything beats EVE's character creation. But then again, all they have are humans. GW2 will have other races to utilize the character creation with. It seems a fairly nice compromise from what I've seen.

Well, the personal story does sort of require at least a youngish character.  It's a little silly to have your biggest regret be that you never knew your real parents but that now even though they've probably died of old age you should find out who they were.  The Charr also deal with who their father was and the Asura are asked who their mentor is.

I'm getting the sense that the personal story in general is a quest from beginning to dragon.  In the human noble and commoner cutscenes, it's at least implied that you're leaving the city for the first time ever.
