The main difference is those are natural looking women with breaast proportionate to the rest of their bodies. I personally have no problem with breasts, I have a couple nice medium sized ones attached.. but it does get bothersome when it gets so far past reality. Yes, Dolly Parton is real, she also is well outside of average, and a lot of video games go way beyond her proportions. |

So what some people are saying, is that it would be more realistic for game developers to use artwork that reflected such female warriors as the "gorgeous" ladies above? I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again? Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20% |

Well, those girls like to show off themselves because they feel that they make quite nice display cases and they like the attention and the general goodwill it brings them. That reinforces their self-image and self-worth, for the same reason - the opinion of men is _important_. Plus they show their superiority to competing females, which also feels good - most males can understand THAT. I certainly can, being overall superior to the majority of males and enjoying it every minute.
There is also nothing strange in simultaneously desiring the attention and abhoring the fact that you are getting that attention because you are, basicly, a boobstand, a display case. Add to that, say, guilt trip from Christian or other sect indoctrination and poisonous whispers "slut!" from other females and you get a full-blown self-destructing psychosis with likely self-mutilation and stuff. Being a female is _fun_! |

The woman in the more demure Leah outfit is likely naturally built that way and needed an outfit that showed off her nice figure but allowed her to wear a good enough bra too support herself. It's a good look on her, I must say. (And I'm sure the outfit was custom made for her, you don't get off the shelf clothing to form- fit an unusual figure like that.) The lady in the skimy Leah outfit also looks nice, she has a natural figure that can wear clothing like that and not be at risk of falling out. The other one... bleh.. I'm not at all fond of the look of "enhanced". Give me a natural woman, small or large chested is of no consequence to me, prefferably with large hips and some meat on her bones, definately with more than 3/4 of a brain in her head. |

I would like to point out that A- THIS is what EE cup looks like: (no nudity) http://s11.lucyphotos.com/images/orig/2/0/208p1tgd2388dg3p.jpg B- The women shown do not ALL have EE-cup breasts (clearly) 1- more to the point, most do not have even close to EE cup breasts. C- The women shown do not all represent 110 lbs (unless they are all 4'11".
I will be the first to admit that I find "breast placement" ... amusing... in MMO's, but not a suprise. This kind of "sex sells" and "sex and violence sells even better" mentality has permiated every single aspect of our culture. If you are not buying an MMO based on if they have ANY mammary exposure then might I suggest you consider the radical possibility that you are actually choosing games based on their own shunning of tride-and-true efficient and expedient advertising strategies? This would be akin, IMHO, to looking for a Real Estate Agent that dressed casually, a Restraunt that did not have attractive waitstaff, or a Car Dealership that did not have baloons, free giveaways, ect.
Mind you, I am sure that you could find well establisted, respectable, and excellent service, products, ect that adhered to the above-mentioned philosophies.. but why in God's name would you exclude trying/testing/potentially enjoying products based solely on their willingness to maximize their... exposure... (pun intended)... by attracting as wide an audience as aggressively as they could within the boundaries of not overshooting and alienating or upsetting a noticeable portion of their majority target audience?
Especially when the average breast size/weight in the pics is C-D cup and 110-135 lbs? (Which, is the typical norm average of size/weight of what we consider to be averagely "attractive" women)? <<~~(all just my opinion, not fact)

Being a mostly herorosexual female I much prefer to look at balls.. but I don't want anyone to loose their wobbly bits either.. or worse, their lives. I believe breast cancer is quite a bit more common than testicular cancer, a lot of money goes into heart disease research which is the biggest killer of men as far as I know. Though guys can also get breast cancer and it's much more likely to not be noticed before it's deadly. Anyway.. /shrug I've played 1/2 the games with pictures in the first post, I could really care less. And I don't think Keith Parkinson's paintings for Everquest were overly busty. Busty, yes, but not crazy out of proportion. (RIP good man) |

I fought agains the oversexualization of computer games a long time. (And NO, male semi-nudity would NOT be better!) Why do we need this? Do Gandalf, Legolas or Galadriel get more interesting in a sexualized manner? I think not. Especially in a fantasy setting, I find this totally hilarious and absurd. It is just proof of a degenerate culture of the occident, and the weakness of gaming industry. If you game is good, you don't need such absurd, immature things. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

There is nothing wrong with the oversexualiztion of both men and women in MMOs. Some people are being delusional about the reason females are displayed in this manner. These ARE fantasy games and they allow for playing around with character models unlike movies. Just as with all other media, men are expected to look big and tough while women to be sexy and perfect. How often do we see action movies that don't have a beautiful female actress as one of the main characters? Most men obviously enjoy looking at these women and it has nothing to do with their personal lives. Saying that the sexualization of women in movies and games is immature is no different than saying the violence is immature, both are there because the majority of young men enjoy it. The argument that these women shouldn't look like this because they are warriors is also bs. Why should a woman have to look unattractive to be powerful? Realism has never been a big factor in fantasy MMOs, just as with any other game the main purpose is entertainment. Compared to many other genres MMOs are actually progressive in gender, since they mostly show women and men as equal in power rather than having women just be sideline cheerleaders for the main male characters. We really don't need more censorship in US than we already do... |
