They should do a Asherons call server that starts from when they first released it. would be amazing to rune to eastham again and spend hours on the beach killing reedsharks. then exploring the wondeful world that is dereth...
new graphics would be amazing but this game doesnt need them.
making life mages to drain lugians and stuff..
basically just how i loved the game when it first came to be, until the exspansions that ruined the game for me at least, too many exp chains pop up because of super rediculous repeatable high exp reward quests.
id sign up to this asap if it happened, 2years to lvl 126 yess plz :P so much fun
love AC!! bring back, patrons woudl give u a 2-4fire katar and u would wet your pants. bring back, somehow managing to kill a broken shard and getting a fragment from it and thinking WOW im RICH!! bring back, the HUB and ppl trading alot, bring back, random guessing at your spell tapers bring back, pryearls with weight and only the biggest badass could cash and M note. bring back, running to Master Mage for Peas for grinding. bring back... |

Bring back the ingenuity those devs had and make a new game with it! Every MMO just seems to pale in comparison. Perhaps it's just rose colored glasses for the game that broke my MMO hymen. Well, at least a little of that, but still a game that's leaps and bounds better than the current generation of MMOs.
Seriously, why is random loot generation such a rare occurence. Want a way to alleviate the pain of grinding? That's one amazing way to do it. Also, why is everything so black and white in regards to pk looting in games. Lose everything or lose nothing. How about a little probability and randomness thrown in there. Best of both worlds!

I remember back when AC first came out, hunting on the beach of eastham, killing for hours in lugian citidel with hordes of other noobs all banding together in one hallway to kill the lugians as they spawned. Finding out what the subway was, running for an hour in one direction and not hitting any invisible walls.
A huge world to explore that wasn't simply divided up into leveling areas. Man what a ground breaking concept. HUNDREDS of weird little dungeons, with quests you'd stumble upon, mysteries to figure out. Lore scattered here and there everywhere.
hands down my fav game of all time, I played it until asheron's call 2 came out then after that huge dissappointment I couldn't go back to AC again and now it's just time for it to get a rebirth. |

Yeah I to wish they would reboot the AC games, AC2 was a huge flop as well as a disappointment, during the beta for it we knew it would fail and said as much on the forums, as they just took the AC world to far from the original game, it would have probably been more successful if they'd made that game into a new game world instead of calling it AC2. I have alot of fond memories of AC, in it's day it was a really good game, and I'm still in contact with the friends I made when I played. Time to dig out my Matty Robe, Imp Staff and Olthoi helm! AC1 circa 1999 - 2000 remains one of my all time favorite mmorpg experiences, due to the dev team, the game mechanics and world, the community both in and out of game, etc... It was the perfect blend of so much awesomeness. The first big patch, Sudden Season, was amazing. Logging in to find snow covering the ground, Frore, Hoary's, what a rush. I would set out exploring and not come up for air for 8 - 10 hours, and just be in awe of this amazing world. Back when games where made out of the love for gaming, and not just a quick buck. I would take original AC back in a heartbeat, over anything out there currently or coming in the next couple of years.

I might be nuts in thinking that going F2P would bring it new life but i do. |

I remember when you saw a umbral you just ran unless you where badass.
The good ole days where developers made games for the pure fun and not the money.

I don't know if I'd want to go back. I have such fond memories of AC that would likely be shattered if I played it again now (I suspect will have likely not aged well). Not sure it would be worth the risk to ruin such memories...
Still... best MMO experience I've ever had. Heck, one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Hope to see/feel that again some day... |

Amen brothers! those were the days. I remember showing my friends the game, it was our first MMO, they quickly purchased it and we formed a guild. I can remember muling on the ground in craigstone in a barn and trying to do it without getting my stuff stolen. Or the first time I got a mote off a golem, first time I seen an olthoi, when I helped stop the shadow invasion. Balz dropping people from super high up in the air and killing them. So many good meemories from AC, I have went back several times and it's really amazing how much they have done to the game. It's still one of the best MMO's out. If people would give it a try and look past the graphics and other small things missing from new age MMO's they would find a gem fo a game. I still have not found an MMO that had PVP as well done as AC. Early days they were server PVP battles, the active PVPer's on the server formed 2 teams and we fought it out for a week-end. That was a blast. I fear if they made an AC 3 it would just be a wow / LOTR clone....but if they would make a true AC 1.5 that would be amazing.

To this day i have yet to see an mmo match or even close to the Bael Zheron event in terms of....well everything from wow factor to pure adrenaline and excitement.
I remember my first hoary robe also, i was 2 scared to lose it so i nvr wore it lol.
I guess we have to come to grips with the fact that were a small minority and that AC1 was just a steping stone for turbine and nothing more. |

This was my first MMO also, so many great memories... I first started playing it in late 1999 when they were doing the last open beta test. I had a gimped mage toon on Darktide. DT was a rough place to live, but the constant fear and PK / Anti-PK wars were a lot of fun. Atlan weapons Teth (Fort Tethana) runs at 3am to look for uber loot that higher lvl chars sold to the merchant Learning spells for the first time in the Mayoi tower Running through the Direlands scared shitless I could go on forever!
Sigh. |

Ahhh the good ol' days, so many memories. I tryed to come back but with the max level at 275, I just couldn't bare to do all that grinding. Not to mention everyone uses third party programs that just level their characters while they go afk. It just ruins it for me. But next to original EQ, this game gave me some of the best gaming memories of my life. I just haven't been able to find the same experience since. I agree with the sentiment of many here that this game came from a time when the passion was for gaming and not all for money.
Long live AC. Being realistic though I can't see Turbine ever making another AC, someone else needs to pick up the sword and carry on the mission! We can dream :). |

yes definitely the best mmo experience I have ever had, and best gaming, period. This game did it right was just way ahead of it's time. |
