All of them. Your competition is offering something you do not want to do and will try and steal players from your game with those features. No reason to handi-cap devs. |

Odd combination of questions...but I answered "I don't mind" which I assume means I'm indifferent. I think mounts are incredibly gimmicky in nearly all MMORPGs. They are normally nothing more than a speed buff that is dispelled by damage. So really, not having them is no great loss to me. Dungeon Finder on the other hand...it's a double edged sword. On one hand, I probably won't ever even do dungeons without it because it's too much of a hassle to find a group. But on the other hand, it can create this douchebag culture where players just want to race through dungeons over and over again and are incredibly rude if you do anything to impede them. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

I don't need Dungeon Finder as i am the sort of player that can figure out where the dungeons are :) "I’d rather work on something with great potential than on fulfilling a promise of mediocrity." The more you hype an upcoming game in your mind, the more it will fail to meet your expectations. |

Originally posted by BarCrow There seems to be two sub-sets of mounts, ground mounts, and flying mounts. Personally I voted ground mounts only, no dungeon finder, since I think that flying mounts and dungeon finders make game worlds feel tiny and marginalized... which I assume is the purpose of the poll. |

Originally posted by manolaren I went with only ground mounts. Being the wordy (and oft tedious person that I am), I'm going to elaborate on the rest and why I do not want certain things in MMORPGs. Dungeon Finder? I want to play a MMORPG. I do not want to play a Game Lobby Game. If I wanted to play a Game Lobby Game, there are plenty of such games out there that I could play. If it is a case that there are no decent "dungeon" Game Lobby Games out there - then should it not behoove developers to get on that? Apparently there are quite a few people that want Game Lobby Games...where instead of a RTS or FPS map - they have a "Dungeon" map with co-op gameplay. Non-ground mounts? Aerial mounts take you out of the game world. They place you above it. In essence, you've left the game. I'd prefer portals to aerial mounts - because you spend less time out of the game world. As an aside... in mentioning mounts, something I would like to see more of is mounted combat. I'd also like mounts not to be something we pull out of our ass. If we've got a fricken huge horse...and we go to do something where we can't take that horse, well - when we come back, we'd better hope the horse was still there. Along those lines, I suppose I'd also like the idea of pack horses to help carry items. In the end, mounts would be treated more like pets (without the pulling out of the ass garbage we see with pets of course)... ...but yeah, definitely no Dungeon Finder nor non-ground mounts - is what I'm looking for. And yes, I know that I'll likely end up being in the minority. MMORPGs are not what they were... I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again? These opptions are there for a resson no matter what we could never change. Players get more and more lazy every day . they want there game time to go further and further. i Bet you a dollar if a game came out that was fully animated all the player had to do was log in and hit a button every 3 or 4 mins , It would be a hit . Lazy wins the day.... |

This is just an extension of the general fruit-fly attention span problems that young people have, in general, these days. Most MMO players today have never experienced having to wait, for ANYTHING. They never played pen-and-paper RPG's where you got together with friends once a week. They never watched TV shows that had cliff-hangers that you couldn't spoil by looking it up on the internet. They never got to enjoy the experience of being LOST in an online game, with no radar-blip map, no web pages to tell you where to go, and only your own ability to recognize landmarks to help you. For that matter, I doubt many of them have ever been lost in real life, with their GPS-enabled smart-phones. What all these ADD kids don't realize is... they're PAYING for it. Taking shortcuts and trying to make everything easy-mode is the equivalent of skipping ahead to read the last chapter in the book. You paid for the whole book, shouldn't you try to enjoy it?

I'm good with whatever mounts make sense for the lore.
As for Dungeon Finder... as things stand, I think they're needed. But what I'd rather see is the removal of the need for grinding a dungeon over and over and over. If you only had to do a dungeon once or twice, either for exploring or for a specific task, then putting together the group wouldn't be such a tedious task. |

I think mounts are fine if you don't have teleporting.i prefer them over teleporting.
Dungeon finder is dislike, makes it way too easy and it makes the mmo feel lifeless |

Originally posted by Puremallace I would agree in terms of mounts. I think, at the very least, ground mounts are essential to a game. Any game that doesn't have mounts is, in my mind, trying to cover the fact that they have a small world size. I don't agree about Dungeon Finder, though. I don't like it, and never have. Even in games like WoW, where it makes the least sense. It takes away, not adds to, the social experience, especially if it's a cross-server LFG. The best way to ensure that it's easy enough to find a group for a dungeon in your game is to make sure you've provided enough content and a good enough game where people will WANT TO play it. HIgher population + balanced level content + high replayability = no need for dungeon finder. While I'm an unabashed themepark-style MMO player, I feel that themepark games have begun to get too dumbed down to the point of being nothing but lobby games. Battlegrounds, dungeons, raids, and now even quest chains can be queued up for? I don't like it. At some point mmorpgs stopped being about the social experience and decided simply to push people together through forced grouping to complete content. Not good. |

I think dungeon finders are terrible for building community on a server - one of the key aspects of a good MMO, so I'd have to say definitely No to that. I think mounts in most MMO's are pretty important and needed, but you should only be able to get them later on (maybe even at max level). Additionally flying mounts are an absolutely terrible idea unless the MMO has been designed from the ground up (no pun intended) to utilise them. Adding flying mounts in zones designed for walking is awful. I voted for ground mounts only in the poll. |

for everyone who says dungeon finder is for lazy people or anything similiar to that, i say what the fuck? there is only 3 ways to get people to do a dungeon with. 1. ask guild, 2. spam lfg(tho most spam trade/etc) channel 3. use dungeon finder tool lets assume everyone has a guild and they do in fact ask their guild mates, not everyone in guild is same lvl or even want/need to do so you only grab 1 of 5, need tank/healer(ALWAYS right?) so what does that leave you? spamming lfg like EVERYBODY ELSE or spamming trade/general like the other asshats do. yea that's all fun and helps the community doesnt it? i seriously dont get what you people have a problem with dungeon finder tool. there is no problem, just you making it into one cause your frustrations with the games other points overflow and you just find something to find fault with. stupid really.
secondly why WOULDNT you want mounts in the game? lets set aside separating for the moment. do you really WANT to walk EVERYWHERE? nothing, nowhere not irl, not in the medieval times, not during the ancient civilization periods did people just walk on foot everywhere. animals were used as transport for a great period of time. i see no reason to exclude mounts. if you want to talk about flying skateboards and stupid shit like that okay, but just mounts period? senseless. now on to the whole 'flying mounts breaks immersion' sure it does, in a badly made game. but look what blizz did with WoW, they made it so the places where you could fly(before cataclysm), you kinda had to fly to get around the zone, so the zone was MADE for flying mounts. thats all a game has to do really. make it so they restrict where you can even use flying mounts, it'd even make a bit of sense too, something like the species of the flying mount can only survive in those areas or w/e doesnt really matter.
