Perhaps CCP might want to show me some real changes, not just more ships and new turret effects and whatever else they have planned to mask the fact that they have no idea how to improve the play experience.

How about instead of complaining that they have "No Idea where to go..." how about you give some constructive feedback on where you'd like to SEE them go. Oh, and just saying "Well, art isn't a way they should go!" isn't constructive.

 

I finally like the idea that "V3" will allow custom skins, insignias, etc that EVE has been so DESPERATELY needing for quite some time. I've hated looking EXACTLY like everyone else, and crying because I could never look as cool as some of the NPC rat ships with their cool art designs on their ships.

 

For me, I'd like to see them do away with gates, load times, and add in a more modular ship system. Instead of just giving us "modules" that are merely just "hardpoints" that go on a ship. I'd like to be able to design ENTIRE suites of modules that change the look, and actual use of that particular ship. Similar to Tech3 cruisers, but on a broader more complex scale for EVERY ship in the game. If you think that is too much work, you're quite silly :3!

 

Removing gates would allow users to select a star-system from a map, or within their ship's current  view, and JUMP to them after calculating the jump variables needed, and then going into sub-space warp to get there. Gates are just a nuisance, and allow kids to lockdown gates between systems far too easily. I want a dynamicly connected world!

Add importance to planets! Allow us to build massive networks around a particular planet to claim it. Something DIRECTLY connected to planets, and not just "Anchored" in some random non-existant point in space that gives us absolutely zero connection to the system we're in. Their "Planetary Control" system is a complete joke, and is nothing more than another isk time sink. They're worthless, and most people agree that i've talked to agree. Unless you're one of those crazy people who run 10accounts and have a 100mill/isk per day setup where you have to play for 8hrs just to produce everything that you need for that Planetary Production system. NOT WORTH IT. You can run missions for several times the isk per hour, or even Incursions that garnish HUNDREDS of times more isk per hour compared to their planetary system.

 

Seriously, they could easily go in hundreds of directions, but the one they should NOT be going in is doing away with HEAVY mega-corporation control of the "Outer Regions".

Yer I have to agree with you, they should realy be getting the art department to improve the gameplay... oh wait, they're a fucking art department. You're a moron.


There's plenty of things needed in Eve at the moment, and they're working on them, but while they work on them, there's a whole heap of other departments that will be stuck sitting on their hands, so they've got them working hard on other asthetic things that don't make you want to come back to a game but make it that little bit better when you do.


On that note, please keep your sub cancelled. We don't need more of your kind in Eve.

Check out some of the latest devblogs ( http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp ) because I think there's a few things there you might like.

Some of the upcoming changes to gameplay include rebalancing of cap ships, Tech 2 ammo, and hybrid weapons. Several other sub-caps will also see some improvements, too.  Along with the changes to improve the 'flying in space' experience, we also have work in place on improving the UI with a more readable font and scalable interface.

I completely understand your skepticism, though. Just wanted to reply to let you know there's some great changes on their way in the winter expansion.

filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community.

Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix?

filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding.

HUh?  That is EXACTLY what they need to do.  0.0 is extremely stagnant at the moment because there is no room for small corps unless they are slave corps.  Until they fix 0.0 I consider Eve to remain a broken game even though I still play it.

Nothing they have described changes the fundamental game mechanics. None of it. Rebalancing Caps doesn't change the mechanics of 0.0. Fixing Hybrids doesn't change the underlying mechanics of hi\lo\null\wh. They have done nothing about the basic gameplay mechanics to get people playing.


I don't really give a damn at this point about them making the existing playerbase happy. What are they doing to really grow Eve's population. It's lagging inflation based on enrollment numbers. At $1 margin per account they need at least 430 new accounts each month just to wash inflation (Which assumes they become permanent players). The number goes up the larger the margin obviously. So scraping $1 net profit per account per month = 430'ish accounts every month. Minimum. Otherwise Eve will simply evaporate. Every time they miss that mark, a little nibble is taken off the margin.


MY question isn't to CCP, but ourselves. What are we, as Eve players willing to give up to get more people playing. IT doesn't strike me that we need new features to lure new players. It may be we need to drop some things to make it more accessable. There is the real question.


Otherwise Eve will just fade and once WoD is out. How long till Eve ends up on the liability sheet just from inflation alone?

That, sir, is a damn good question.     I've mentioned this before on these forums, and the feedback was less than considerate.     But, I still hold to that line of thinking, and agree with you.    Something has to give, or else EVE Online WILL fade out and it won't be WoD that does it.

I'd love for them to let my come back to the game again for the $4.95 for the first month that they offered some players.  I asked them if they would give me that offer, but they said not everyone was eligible for all promotions.  

Sadly, that just made me not want to play again, since I felt like a second class customer.

The game is awesome!.....when it's mega alliances playing. There is no room for small corps in 0.0 or even Low Sec.
