Originally posted by RefMinor Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 rocked. As evidenced by millions of dollars in profit followed by an entire WoW expansion based on them. Chinese culture is not childish. It's a "f'ing" video game - increasingly made for children. Feel free to continue to be a hardcore raider if you like. Obviously that conent is not for kids. Goblin and Kung Fu Panda avatars - clearly for kids. Step away from your keyboards, go outside and experience real life for a while. |

Originally posted by Laughing-man You are right the High elves are close to extinction, but then again the excuse of finding a colony in a unknown part of the world makes more sense then Panda's , both lore wise as well as game pressense wise. Orges, yes you are right, then again their previous affiliation with the horde and the ongoing shift in powers would make them a logic option as playeble race, infact... them joining the horde makes more sense then blood elves, but lets not beat on that horse again, he had enough. We have had a good amounth of friendly ogres even ones we where able to to gain reputation with. So one of the many tribes desiding to rejoin their previous faction does make sense. Im not too worried about people mass creating high elves, granted the blood elf population wasnt driven as far back as the high elves , but for them the drain was very near as well. A new part of the world gave a excuse to give them a noticeble pressense in the world, the location of that part of the world on the other hand.. makes me wonder how they where never discovered. A new continent or even a new corner of the excisting world(s) gives the same excuse, infact a new continent gives a better excuse for a noticeble population then a corner of the known world, a part that was even contested. I do agree the high elves reapperance would be somewhat questionable but then again.. compared to the panda's.. |

Your claim is false. |

As someone else commented, wow was designed based on western cultural influences and mythologies. By mixing it with overtly chinese elements is really watering it down making it a spew worthy concoction. I won't be buying the expansion and i've been playing wow since the beginning. |

Originally posted by nethrill What if the rest of the expansion is just plain great? What if the new instances are well thought out and enjoyable? What if the new BG's are more fun? What if this expansion actually melds that Asian theme and western cultural influences perfectly? You say you have been playing since the begining and yet you see Pandas and run away? The Noahs Ark of talking creatures that inhabit Azeroth never turned you away but now Pandas will? You are really going to give up on Blizzard with out even trying it..after 7 years of loyality? You have no idea if it is complete trash or not. You have no idea how the zones in the expansion are or how they are themed. Look at WoTLK expansion. Was every zone gloom and doom? Filled with snow and dead things? You and most other people are over reacting to the very small bit of info that they have released. |

Originally posted by OkhamsRazor It's trying to be all things to all people which never works, it only waters down and dullutes it. I think mixing pop asian elements into it, though appealing to kids and prehaps asians, I personally believe it's a big mistake which only cheapens the integrity of the game.

Chinese culture is certainly not a joke. Agreed and previously stated. I took courses on it while at university.
Kung Fu Panda was also a great movie - agreed and previously stated - as was KFP 2
and not "just for kids." - agreed.
If you don't think this KFP themed content is aimed at a younger audience you're simply ignoring the business side of things. Which is fine by me. RP whatever you like however you like. Just be prepared to PUG with anonymous children. I never found that worth paying for personally.

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

I know people who think gnomes are silly. I know people who think dranei are silly. I know people who wouldn't play a night elf if you paid them. I don't know of anyone who refuses to play a game because it contains races they object to. MMOs have a variety of races to pick from for a reason, not every race appeals to every player. Why don't you people who hate panda's just pick a different race? Are you really saying that the simple presence of a panda race will make this game unplayable? Why don't you just pick a race you do like, as you do in every other mmo and just get over it? I have never played a high elf in my life. I just don't like them. But I still play games that have them as a playable race. Are some of you quitting WoW because of this? Because - you aren't playing a Panda now, and you won't magically turn into a panda when the xpansion is released - so can't you just keep playing the race you like? Seems like you'd gain a lot of mileage hazing pandas if you kept playing. Remember gnome/dwarf punting? You know, if you refuse to participate in a community at all because you have a hatred of a race which is also a part of that community, you know what they call you? A racist. (fyi - this is a joke, playing with words and double meanings; no one get bent out of shape; I'm not really calling you racist) |

I quit because I refuse to pay to repeat dailies and randomly pug with teenagers and pre teens. Diablo 2 is still a blast and still free.

The panda's were in WC3 already, so this thread title is invalid. Kungfu panda stole the Pandarians.
