^  EXACTLY!!!  And like Mircrosoft products, I paid for this one.   I immediately asked for a refund due to the game being completely unplayable.  I rather have a stable solid game where they add features later, not the way this crap was sold.

Well it was a load of buggy crap with very poor performance at launch and to be honest I could not see anything new that it brought to the table but .... at least it was a stab in the right direction. If only Masthead had proper funding to programme the game properly and make it true FPS and not so buggy.

Better than the legion of EQ clones like WOW but still got a long way to go.

Did you seriously just try to compare the launch of WoW and EVE to Earthrise?

Earthrise was broken beyond all belief at launch, and remains that way to this day. The fixes that the dev team have come through with are mostly minor, and the fact that nearly every single veteran supporter of the game has nothing positive to say about it (which can be quite clearly seen with a glance at the official forums), even after all this time, speaks volumes about just how low quality the game has remained.

Technical issues out the wazoo.

Extremely low population.

Clunky combat system.

Lack of character customization.

And on and on and on....

Not sure why you are trying to defend this broken mess of a game, obviously you are a supporter, but attempting to push the game onto others here by using misinformation and being purposefully vague is just bad form.

Anyone interested can take a look at the official forums and get a very good idea of the state of the game, and the picture it paints is most definitely not a positive one.

Ehmm, there is a free trial out there, and everyone can have a FREE shot at it and make up their own mind. And your apperantly not reading what I´m writing. I said that there were bigger games out there that also has had rocky starts, like EVE and WoW. And WoW wasn´t exactly made by a independent small studio like Masthead are, or that CCP was. And to also answer your other reply about only one guild. As I said, new players and old returning players, that are coming back now, or try the game now, all have every chance in the world to create new guilds. It ain´t that hard, and there are people trying the game again and for the first time now. Are you seriously trying to say that no old or new players will EVER try the game!?!? Jeeeeez....

And then we have the combat. You can´t have gotten down with the combat system that much if you say it´s "praying and spraying". that´s so far from how the combat could be ingame. The variations on how to adept yourself to a fight is enormous in ER. You can fill your belt with 4 weapons and have one equiped. You can have more in your inv as well. But heading in to a fight you can change weapons from say "starting with a precision rifle from start for long distance, trying to perhaps stun them, then get closer in change to a assault rifle that has a wider cone attack and put on a stance that make them bleed, then maybe run in close up with melee and when you land a slow pick up your shotgun that if you have the right passive does extra damage on slow targets. And if you get damaged put out your nano to heal yourself. then you can have two devices equipped as well. Wich all of them have plaenty of different abilities. Like the first aid device that can take away slows from you, or combat medic device that puts a shield on you and close allies etc. If you say it´s pray and spray thern your just clueless to how the PVP in ER work...

The character customization is enormous if you talk how you can set yourself out for PVP. Also now there are some new armors out there that actually makes others see how you look. B4 every1 had helmets so you couldn´t see their heads, but all that fits in with the lore, cause you can´t breath the air in the world cause it´s toxic.

And all I´m saying is that the game is in it´s best state yet, and for new and old players it´s definetly worth a look. A free look even. So I still recomend any1 to try the state of ER as of now. Not as of launch...

ok, just made a trial, played for a bit.

Combat is horrid. Also feels laggy and slow. Not a nice game to play if you ask me.

I was excited about this game, got to try it before launch, and saw how much work was needed and didn't get it....BUT, if they actually get things working well, it has potential.  I liked the crafting system, atleast initially, not usre how they implimented it, but I liked the versatility and customization that you could tweak stuff potentially.....Seemed a little like SWGs crafting system from a glance.

Be nice if they ever get it to where it needs to be, could be a good game, eventually, I imagine it will take6-12 more months though, from the sounds of it.

Every single indy sandbox MMO that has been released in the last 5 years have been buggy sloppy releases, however I honestly can't name a single indy sandbox MMO that has failed (as in bankrupt and no longer hosting servers) in the past 5 years.

I think "Failed" and "Have not lived up to expectations" are independant.  Games dont fail (in the manner you described) unless they really are terrible.  I believe that MO is close to failing, but DFO seems like its going steady, but is no where near what it should be.  

But I agree with the rest of your post.  I was really looking forward to ER but from what I understand its still it terrible shape, which really dissappoints me.  

Where are all the good sandbox games!?

I bought this game and stuck around for the first month, only way I come back is if they give me a month free to test the game again. Did they ever fix the lag? World enviornment was beautiful thou I'll give them that much.
