Blizzcon 2011 has kicked off in a big way with the announcement of the new World of Warcraft expansion. Here's what we know:

• Name: Mists of Pandaria
• Race: New playable Pandaren race
• Class: Monk
• Pet battle system
• PvE scenarios
• New talent system
• New continent
• Level cap increase to 90
• Challenge mode dungeons

Did they just hire Jack Black or something?

I used to play with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was a kid. The characters were fantastic, e.g., Leonardo, Don, Mike, Raph, Shredder, Krang, Slash, Splinter, etc....

If I could figure out a good reason for them to do so, I would think Blizz is deliberately trying to kill this game.

Not really what I expected. Maybe they are animated in an appealing way but ... playable panda race? Black & white chubby bearlike humanoids? Really?

There's probably a big marketing tactic behind it: 12 year old Chinese girls as a new target group or something or perhaps Swtor's "serious-story-without-easter-eggs" take on a themepark mmorpg made them decide to stress WOW's cartoony aspect a little more in order to be different.

I love it lol and i would definitely return just for the panderan monk.

HOWEVER,

When they started to get cute with stupid characters like, "Pizza Throwing Raph" and "Rappin' Mike", I thought that was even too gay for a 12 year old.

Arrakoa = bird people
Centaur= horse people
Furblogs = bear people
Gnolls = hyena people
Kobolds = rat people
Magnataur = mammoth people
Murlocs = fish people
Naga = fish/snake people
Qiraji/Nerubian = bug people
Quillboar = boar people
Taunka = buffalo people
Tauren = cow people
Tol'vir = cat people
Tuskarr = walrus people
Wildkin/Moonkin = owl people
Wolvar = wolverine people
Worgen = wolf people

I don't see a problem.

There were some pandarens in Warcraf 3, so it was just a matter of time before they put them in WoW

Wow. Panda's? Really? I know people tend to link WoW with kids but this is a little extreme. Can't see it selling at all well over this side of the pond.

Panda's have been part of WoW lore since forever.    They are not new - but new to be able to play them and explore their lands.

Good to see the only issue's this community has (let's face it's anti-wow) is the race, no mension of the new class, PvP focus etc which tells me they secretly love it.  Find out in 20 minutes what the expac is all about though with the panel.
