Actions, not words.
They have a LOT of work to do to even begin to repair relations with a large portion of the playerbase, even moreso for those no longer in the playerbase due to finally having enough of ccps ineptitude on the communications front. ----- |

Oops - looks like I'm an internet dog who somehow learned how to type. What has the world come to? |

And why would I think of checking this game out as a new player?
Looking forward to your answer. |

I just CAN'T let this go. Why would any one play a game in which the Devs gave complete access to the Devs private test Servers (not the public test server) to a select few? Caught a dev cheating and really did nothing to fix it. Allowed that select group to cheat in game with out consequences? Interfer in game politics? They fixed or rigged a special event for that select group to win and when they didn't they handed the prize to them any way and gave NOTHING to the legit group who did win with the promise to give them something later and never did. And in CCP's ARROGANCE they say Tough! this is OUR Sandbox...we will do as we see fit!!! CCP promised total ship customization (painting it. Putting your Corp logo on the side and later they said Alliance tags as well.) Something so trivial to them but a major thing to the player base. If I EVER met Hellmar I would punch him in the face and not feel one bit guilty about it after all the crap that I paid for. All they have done and are doing is pandering to a very select few. That player councel is a JOKE they do NOT represent the players. It's just another way for them to try and improve their image! DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! CRYPITC AND CCP should be bowling partners they can cheat and lie together to WIN! I will NEVER play either companies games again!

Too few corps control too much in EVE. I know its supposed to be an sandbox but as others have said unless you want to become a slave to those that play almost 23/7 and make EVE your second job, you are nothing. I played EVE from the start when it was fun. But no longer.

Originally posted by gimmesome You must have missed when all of CCP became delusional with their "Eve is Real" campagin. It's not a game. They admit that now. Any pretense of Eve being a source of entertainment has been dropped. It's now an alternate reality. I'll pass with insaine people. There is one reality and the last thing I want to do with my hour or two of free time is trade one reality for another. I prefer to play... well... GAMES. Back to Dominion and Catan I guess... |

Question from the uninformed: What is ship spinning? |
|
|
10/19/11 4:48:47 AM#73
Ship spinning was the original default screen you had when you docked at a station you were able to grab the ship with a mouse and spin it. That dissapeared with Captains quarters, and because of that became a symbol if you like of the direction of the game. But also with captains quarters you lost features, burned your graphics card and in the main was seen as a shop window for Nex store. Eve is now a dead game unless it does soemthing drastic it lost the trust of its player base and is now trying to get that trust back for many it simply wont happen. In truth eve should now take a new direction as the old one is not really viable anymore, even if it manages to reinvent itself can you still trust ccp not to do something stupid after investing years into a character again? i know i cant...
Currently Waiting for Guild Wars 2. |

Put in consentual PvP so you dont get ganked the second you leave hi-sec and I will come back to EVE. Until then gank yourselves silly. Not paying for a game where all a new player can do is be some established factions miner butt-monkey,, No Thanks

Thanks Eta. I was first assuming you can spin your ship in space (i.e. roll) for some non-functional flashy fake impression, that the combat is actually action packed and thrilling - lol. I was playing Eve since open beta, fom then for 1.5 years and with 2 returns up to last year where I was playing a few weeks and then spent a multiple of that active time on subbing without playing and only switching skill training. I have to say the offline training is a feature with a significant economic effect (for CCP). As long as I was thinking that I will return I felt the pressure of not cancelling my sub so i wont "lose" training time and "fall behind". Stupid me. This game has no leveling treadmill but a "waiting for skill x to get access to new content treadmill". I daresay that a portion of those accounts deemed active are not even played but they only keep the training queue filled. So the active playerbase is probably another bit smaller than what the statistics imply. I don't mind offline training but I would never again play a game with only offline training and no option to advance your skills while actually playing (and which is stronger than OLT). |

There are always going to be complaints about unfairness in any pvp game, you just cannot please everyone. We will just have to wait and see what they intend to do, fixing the capital ship problem is a start, let's hope it is not all. |

Originally posted by Alx_Starfire I'm just about as CareBear as it gets. I never left high sec in almost 6 years. I'm also still a member of SWA (never joined any player corp). At the point I walked away, I had around 45 million skill points, my own fleet of battleships (level 4-5 in all racials), barges and lord only knows how many other ships. All of that from mission running and a little mining. Its more than possible to solo well in EVE. One just needs patience and research. I finally left after Incursions. I did not like the way the game was going, and the attitude CCP had picked up. As for the ganking, yes it happens (even in high sec), but not NEARLY as much as it once did. The evolution of Concord is a fascinating look at CCP's efforts to protect its business model. ^^ But thats to be expected given the existence of groups like the Goonies. One of their mottos is; "We don't want to ruin the game, we want to ruin YOUR game". Groups like that get their jollies from ruining other players play experience. Thats going to happen, when non consentual PvP is part of the game. Thats why Perpetuum is a better game in that regard. Non flagged players can *not* be attacked on the Alpha islands. Imagine EVE with mechs on the ground, rather than ships in space. |

Any corp which won't let you structure your gaming time around your real life is not one you should associate with. And yet there are corps who do let you do this. You're making huge, sweeping generalisations which are as accurate as huge sweeping generalisations normally are. If you made the smallest amount of effort to do so, you could easily join a casual-friendly hi-sec corp. And when I say a "small" amount of effort, I mean less effort than you've put into complaining here. Give me liberty or give me lasers |
