To Ms. Ford. I like that you got your feet wet. PVP isn't all bad and when it is done well it can be quite entertaining. Now try pvp in a AAA game. I like to describe the difference in PVP and regular play in a MMO like this to my friends. Regular old PVE in a mmo is great, it is like being a Smurf all living smurfy in smurf village all working together to get the smurf stuff done. PvP is like being Gargamel. You gotta be trying to turn them smurfs into gold or at the very least eat them. Its every evil old wizard for themselves! Yeah you have to work in a team to complete objectives, but all you are really thinking about is destroying the smurf village and how delicious these golden pan fried Smurfs are going to taste :) |

That game was a bomb, its a pitty it had so much balance problems. I definitly love the dark vs light angels aspect of it. I hope we will have more game like this, with better polish.
Glad you enjoyed pvp, sometime it really is fun, not always though :p |

It went from "ambitional second most popular game behind WoW" to "second most popular and second most successfull MMORPG in the world, East or West and majorly successfull gametitle even destroying and outdwarfing Wow in the two most important Asian countries Korea and Japan and still remaining a popular game within the MMORPG genre in the West". But to some insecure and delusional WoW fanboys it always has been and allways will remain a flop, just like every other game out there that isnt WoW or some other Blizzard junk, they keep desperately trashing. The "OMG ITS GOING TO KILL WOW" remarks where 19 out of 20 made by WoW fantards putting them into other gamers mouth or claim they'd make them, just to keep bringing up WoW. Just like for all of the last half decades game. Just like here once again. Its appearantly threatening and popular enough to keep drawing strong attention from countless fanboys of the oh so massively successfull and best game out there, sensing danger of competition making some good news. New patch sounds good. Problem is i have a lvl 53 Assasin. The Aion Sin must be the worst designed class ive ever played in MMOS. Why the **** would a mele class need magical accuracy. Also anyone going back is so far behind the current player base they wouldnt last 20 seconds in PVP against them.

I hope the author now feel guilty about all these years during which they have been saying:
Unbelievable, but these comments are things I have heard for real. It would be nice if the more extreme PvE players were giving a chance to PvP as the author did, and maybe consider PvP players as humans (not some sort of weird branch of the species closer to the monkey than the homo sapiens sapiens). Yes, PvP is fun and it has been around for years. It is a miracle actually since the PvP players have to deal with all sorts of PvE-extremists. As for Aion PvP, I enjoyed it for a while, but with all these new games coming out, I don't think I will ever have time to check it again... |

I can assure you, as a current player, that Aion is nothing more than a grinder. In fact it is one of the worst grinders in existance. Aion is so Asian, it even omits local chat until over level 50. |

Well for those who say its just a grinder, i've got to level 38 on my assassin with no grind at all, just doing the quests and not even the "daily" quests. So getting well over half way so far without sitting in a field and grinding with no purpose but to gain experience or loot, is pretty good. I'm now running the solo dungeon through a few times before I'm out of the cap to get blue loot, and also hopefully get my second orange weap, but dungeon grinding is part of all mmos and even more so in WoW. I know I could sit in a field and grind out my levels and in most mmos this is possible, but i believe that doing the quests gives you the bonus exp needed to not need to grind. |

As a current player, I disagree. If you're talking about leveling, it goes by too fast imo. If you're talking about AP gear, I call it "progression", not "grind". So no, at least for me, Aion is definitely not a "grinder" or "the worst grinder in existence". (The latter being hyperbole) They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. |

Originally posted by Requiem6 Well, first of all, Aion and Rift are very different games. And Aion is very popular in the east. It's not a flop. Of course, many of the wow players were highly dissapointed when they played it because they wanted wow 2.0 and didnt' get it. Secondly, though I dont' believe people were thinking of Rift as a WoW killer, Trion put themselves right in that bargain bin with their "you are not in Azeroth anymore" as well as a lot of talk that pretty much made it clear that they were going after some of WoW's playerabase. I dont' recall any of the developers for Aion making such claims. If they did then they were stupid. If some player says the words "WoW killer" on the internet then you ignore them. If some developer/producer says "wow killer" then you pat them on the head and tell them to look you up once they achieved it. |

Shure sound like the recent posthistory of your average "current player" of Aion, investing money and time on the game.

So Aion arenas aren't tiny boxes? And Open World PvP flourishes in Abyss? Well, something must have changed since I left 3 months ago... As for that one - If you want to play it for fun or train your arenaskills you can play arena all day, you just wont get more rewards You must be delusional if you think that in such a heavy gear dependant game as Aion players will massively waste their time on something that serves Fun ONLY. If A, B and C are fun, but A is limited, B is faction ownership dependant and C doesn't give you any profit, what's the point of C? To have any fun, you have to be at very least competitive. To be competitive, you need gear (especially in Aion). To have gear, you need to do what game mechanics requires you to do to get it. That's the nature of modern MMOs, hard to argue that. So of course I want to get any profit out of my actions, because that's what the whole game mechanics is build around. And yes, WoW BG's and arenas were actually fun and were working reasonably well. At very least I was able to play it whenever I wanted, without any nonsensical limitations. And If they were any smart, they could have made progression as slow as it is now. Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation |

Uh.... Nice quoting a guy who didn't even play it. Nah I played AION a bit a year ago or so with a friend. Even in beta I got to level 30 pretty quick... couple weeks maybe and now they have quests and dungeons so it should be smooth sailing to level. Getting gear is always the hardest part, though...and getting gear shouldn't be WoW easy all of the time. I just am tired of themeparks in general now because while they have different shells, they're all the same flavor (except AION'S pvp does something other than satiate your tastebuds for combat like most themeparks). |

I enjoyed aion alot myself.. it was the retarded skins they started adding in later on that killed it for me. The day I grouped with a duel lollipop wielding bozo the clown was the day I ended my account

OMG you'r so right. After all these years i syill don't undestand those negs opinions, even when the opinion maker didn't tried the game, it's so stupid. About AION, of course is the most beatifull and enjoyable games ever, and of course it never meant to kill wow, because who plays aion just dont play wow and "vice versa". But, those new shop items, that give 100% for manastones, it's pay 4 win. And i think a sub is enough. ![]() |

only problem I have regarding pvp in this game is losing the points if you're defeated, which I think shouldn't be as players should be rewarded for participation, that's why there's more eloys than asmo, players just join the more successful side who have a higher chance for rewards

Yes that is a polearm.
I was thinking hard about why I left this game before and then I remembered it was these bots that used to stay in an area and wipe out the mobs there and including the mobs you were fighting. It was beyond annoying. That was why I left. Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
