Got an invite. Going to give it a fair shot with as much time as I can possbly give it (unfortunately for Star Wars, Dark Souls came out yesterday!!!!!). I will contribute as much as I possibly can as a tester, but I must admit that this still will give me a fair idea of what to expect from the game at launch. I'm not saying in terms of bugs or quirks, I mean in the overall gameplay. We shall see! |

Originally posted by Kost Well to be fair, the devs have said that just by playing the game they are getting metrics. So even if you never post a bug report or even an opinion. You are helping the devs get ready for launch.
I will be reporting and exploring. See if I can find places to get stuck look for visual errors and so forth. But just playing as a free trial would be fine if people want to. All the million plus should get in before early access if we go by what the devs said. So plenty of metrics as well as bug reports will be recorded I am sure. “How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?” |

Originally posted by artemisentr4 I am aware of that, but we both know what a closed beta test's intended purpose is, and a free trial isn't it. The only reason Bioware is even taking this approach is because they know users are going to abuse the closed beta invites for the above purpose, so they are trying to prevent the problem by pretending it doesn't exist. Where that logic fails, is when one considers length of time spent playing (or a lack thereof, rather). If someone gets a beta invite and spends ten minutes playing, then decides to quit, Bioware has received no useful info and has wasted an invite slot that could have gone to a legitimate tester.

Originally posted by Kost I agree about the length of time. There is only so much you can test and only so high you can level in a weekend. The testers that will be doing the most closed beta work are the every day testers in general testing. The weekend warriors IMHO are just getting a open beta weekend more than a closed beta look. They did say that all 1.5 million will get a chance before the game goes live if they wish. So that equals controlled open beta.
So regardless, this is more of a stress test than bug squashing event because of the limited time and only seeing a part of the game. Some will do what good testers do, but most will be playing with builds, testing classes and just playing as a free trial. You know it is the way of things regardless of what it should be. “How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?” |

Moments ago I was thinking of posting that I wouldn't join the beta even if I was offered, that I didn't want to spoil anything so that it would all be fresh and new from the start. And then I checked my email. "dammit...." /checks to make sure nobody is watching /clicks ACCEPT sheepishly |

Ive gotten a total of 3 beta invites, first one last month, my second one 3 days ago that has no definate set end time, and I got a beta weekend test on another server for this weekend. I feel fortunate to say the least. Been playing and giving feedback like crazy the last few days. System: AMD quad-core A6-3400M |

received invite for this weekend.
I prefer to test the game before i preorder it. For me its not important whether its survives 1 year 2 year. As long as i am enjoying it then ist worth the $15 monthly charge .i enjoyed Rift for 5 months, Aion for 4 months,STO for 5 months or so no regrets. 2 months into premium access to World of Tanks and enjoying it.
Just want to try the tropper in SWTOR hope it whast i imagine it to be playwise :) |

The long awaited invite has finally come... Couldn't have picked a better weekend too, since my unit is having a 4 day weekend in preparation for our 8 week stint in the field. Somebody loves me! |

I hate all of you who are playing this game because I am not.

Originally posted by Albytaps I got 0 emails last week but a fellow medic in my unit did get them and the apology from BioWare. When I told him today to check his email again, he got nothing new. Basically he said, I suck. So, beta invites are random, posting on official forums or bugging BioWare has nothing to do with the process. Just be patient and buy a rabbit foot or something. |

Personally, I don't care if I get a Beta Invite, after the huge debacle with SWG, I wasn't interested in another Force game, so far, I've stayed away from the regular Single Player variants. |
